Yes, I said character creation because that was one part of the distinctions. As to the story, we know even less about that so even discussing it at this point is making even bigger assumptions.
This is a ridiculous conversation.
Only to someone who doesn't care
When everyone looks like you its easy to dismiss the concerns of those who don't.
So if the percentage of the world population that is white is less than 20% are you suggesting the other 80% are dismissive of white concerns?
Not a fan of the new races personally. Also don't like the fact that they WoWized humans (all humans are the same culture!) compared to the original design where there was more than one human culture. (Cause you know, brown people don't deserve their own starting areas and separate cultures from the standard mmo norms, because obviously they don't play mmos )
Oh wait, the ravaging demon savage folk are brownskinned...
*rolls eyes*
Really Brad, from the majesty of the Erudites in EQ1 to this?
So I'm guessing Tony and the other brother (forget his name) aren't amongst the returnees are they?
In an effort to put this particular line of thinking to rest, here is what we have revealed about the holistic Human race in Pantheon thus far: main backstory + one concept image depicting a male Human.
There will be an authentic and celebrated diversity within the Human race itself, both NPCs and Player Characters, within the walls of Thronefast, just as there will be racially diverse splinter groups and factions of Humans throughout the world of Terminus. This also will apply to the other races to varying degrees.

But still no Dark Elves? How can u even leave out Dark Elves? Dark Myr's wont replace the Dark Elves, you have a greater chance of succeeding if you implemented Dark Elves, and some sort of Underdark, bend it og call R.A Salvatore, and tell him you are creating a mmorpg, that will give vibes from the Old EQ wich he so much loved playing, he might even help you on the storyline, as he must have shitloads of content when 38 studios failed hard. No but seriously, u gotta pull Dark Elves outta the hat man, they are the true Antagonist race of all time

I'll add my voice to Joppa's: we have released just one critical but condensed thread of Thronefast's (the Human capital city) multi-layered story. While what we've shown thus far is understandably the only picture anyone has, it is not the full picture. The Humans have a more standard monarchical form of rule on the surface, but the nobility is prominent, decisive and capable on its own. A bit more like the waxes of classic Roman dynamics between the senate, provinces and any given emperor.
I admit I would be torn about featuring multiple playable Human races, each with a different starting cities, even aside from us logistically not going that route at game start. Thronefast is the Human capital, not the capital of a shade of skin. It belongs to all of the citizens, and it would be unfortunate (to me) to separate them out based on other criteria. They have all undergone the same trials, defeats and victories. They are not symbolic, they are authentic (within the made-up fantasy world, of course). Maiquiame, I submit that it flows more naturally against your concern about diversity being an artificial feature from "character creation alone" to see the spread of human races represented in one home. But your thoughts are appreciated.
That's all I've got. Thanks all.

My thanks go out to you Istuulamae and to Joppa for making the effort to reach out to this forum, via this thread, and shedding some clarification on this matter. I think it reflects greatly on your team and should go a long way in conveying to posters in this forum that although your game website is currently only limited access to subscribers you are still taking the time to listen, and address, people's concerns on third party websites such as this one. Thanks.

LO -
Appreciate the discussions and perspectives brought out in this thread. We can't answer every question directly, but when we are free and able to do so we will. We don't assume to deserve a player's investment or interest, so responding to sincere questions that arise from interest in our gameworld is more of a joy than a burden. I modded a website for years, total third party deal, and know the people behind the accounts are real people (most of the time ), who have real life decisions to make with their time, interests and money.
Thanks all.

Thing is you say your not thinking about colour but in your portrayal of human you show a white man.
Now subconsciously you are not thinking of humans of different colour, why not show an Asian or Black human. You didn't because you are portraying humans as white. Why not show all shades of human then?

They never said they weren't thinking about color.
Two members of the Pantheon team just assured us that there will be diversity among not only humans, but all races. There's no longer a need to make assumptions on anyone subconscious thoughts.

Forgive me, but I'll be convinced when there are named NPCs of color that are important to the actual game story itself and I mean multiple, not just one token. By not including a seperate race of color as was in the original design often times aside from characters that are created you don't see them, or you have to rely on "tokens" and nowadays have to deal with cries of SJW's taking over the game! You also run the risk of whitewashing these npcs of color now. I think having a second human faction -right out the gate, on the main race page- would have been better than having the Skar. Brad's games were always different due to realizing that all humans don't come under the same European umbrella, its a shame that Pantheon will be the first that goes against this unspoken mantra of his past titles. Sorry but this approach is par for the mmo course now. To say this will happen is not saying this -has- happened and right now there is no evidence aside from what you say, forgive me for being a skeptic.
Taking out the other race was a mistake, sorry. They were a great addition and their magical outlook and basis was a great nod to the Erudites of EQ1. Its a terrible idea to not have them included on the page if they do exist and as I told Dullahan you can find my old posts right on the Human forums on the website, they are still there. I even wrote countless posts about what could be contributed to their design on the old forums, I'm sure Brad and Tony can tell you this themselves because Tony read the posts and we communicated about them through email. Forgive me but making them Roman does not address the issue here, that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. A brownskinned Roman is still a brownskinned Roman and is not as good of a choice as the original race in the original design. The original design should have been kept. To put it another way, the Erudites portrayal as they were was just as vital to what made Everquest 1 special for a person of color like me. It had great gameplay AND a very cool race of folk who resembled what I looked like. They weren't simply the brown version of the white version of human. They had their own culture, they were important to the story and they had cool characters and their own gods. By sweeping them under the rug of "humanity" you take away their uniqueness.
I'll wait and see what happens.
Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

That's no answer and yes there is a case, why not show a group of humans on the race page.
This thread has officially jumped the shark. Lets make another one if we want to compare pixel colors please.
I agree slapshot. I'm not sure if this is the most in-depth attempt to troll the positive release of good news, or some people just don't have better things to do than to commit this much time throwing a fit trying to fulfill their agenda before any real information is released.
Maquamie, we get it, you want all the humans to be dark skinned. Now please start another thread if you want to continue discussing this. The rest of us are here to discuss the exciting news about the progress of the game.

He is not saying that he wan't all humans to be dark skinned, that's you saying that. Point is it would of been better to show a selection of these multi culture humans who live in the city. I'm quite surprised really because Brad has always been ahead with this.
As for your comment, you actually sound like a bigget and it's quite revealing.
