Best decision I've made in the past 2 years was leaving this game

So glad I left this game a few months after launch. It's still fun to drop in these forums from time to time and see what the latest scam/screwup from Trion is, though.
When I think of all the time I saved slaving away at my virtual farm or doing trade runs just to try to compete with exploiters or people that paid hundreds or thousands of dollars on their toons, it's hard to believe I spent any time at all on this sham of a game.
I feel bad for anyone that's going into this game without realizing what they are getting into.

Get over it. Find for yourself something you can enjoy and stop carrying for these..mind you it had such an influence in your soul already that months after leaving you get back to it...and always get back to it..to check forums ..
I for one thank heaven for this game.
After 10 years of bad MMORPG games finaly a MMORPG thats worth it.

I got so many credits from ingame gold that i could eysily play more then a year from now on for free but i feel like "betray" or not support properly the creators of the game if i didn't pay at least something for these masterpiece thats the only reason i still pay a subscription for my patron.
I didn't spend any real money for anythiing else then Patron.
About "taste" we could easy start an endless discussion, dont you think.
The fact that reveals more then anything else on the matter is, people who believe this place is "bad" don#t stop to come back to here, to these "bad" spot.
Its enrtertaining somehow for someone who enjoy the best MMORPG on the market to watch these behaviour.
Yeah the game was actually quite fun and addictive for me .
But end game it became plainly obvious that it is pay 2 win game .
I wasted about $500 on this game before I realised that it was going to require $50,000 to buy the materials to get gear good enough to compete against the best players in pvp ( which is mostly gear based )
However when I found out how much hackers were exploiting the game it total ruined the game for me knowing people were getting "progression" for free while suckers like me paid
Looked fun though, if you had full gear=).

Cloth has 20/100 stats
Leather has 60/60 stats
Plate 100/0 stats
Which is the best? Cloth.
Stack a bunch of defence gems in them, pop some potions and some buffs/passives and you can reach 60-70% damage reduction easily on physical defence ontop of your already high magic defence.
Def / Mdef stat is a small piece on the big puzzle.
Cloth wearing mages have to not move when they want to cast spells for example and also have cast times on almost any spell.
Also there is no armor restriction, put on cloth and cloth pieces yourself.
I'm not talking about mages. I'm talking how a set (Cloth) that SHOULD be weak to physical defence, in archeage can reach absurd amount of damage reduction.
Last I played the game I had a cloth and plate set. My plate set (Was almost all Celestial but not gemmed yet) had on 60% physical reduction and around 10% magical reduction WHILE my crappy cloth set (Was mostly Greater Howling Abyss pieces) gave me almost 50% physical reduction and 30-40% magical reduction.
it's about fun, and you fun does not equal the fun does NOT equal the rest of the world's.
and somewhere in your "gaming carreer", you obviously lost that feeling.

Your post reminded of that, AA has some really nice ideas but they are not designed the way western audience will appreciate, at least the 90% of them will not.

While I agree that given the option with character customization being able to tank with cloth is nice, in archeage however plate is terrible compared to the other sets because it's the only set that has 20% less stats. (0 Magic Defence)
Once you reach around 60% damage reduction, the game starts giving diminishing returns if you attempt to go higher. I had a guildie with a full divine set and his physical reduction with plate was around 70%. We are talking about a set of equipment that gives ONLY physical defence.
Archeage damage reduction was not implemented well. Even leather without doing some heavy regrading can reach you around 50% damage reduction on both physical and magical defence. It's that easy to reach 50% reduction. Then there's also specific enchantments or Accessories that give % damage reduction for all damage ontop of your armor reducing the damage.
On the server I played there was A LOT of tanky players because the game let's you pump the % reduction far too easily.

I don't know if anyone seen his interview a year ago in reddit, he spent 10000$(dollar not korean won) to regrade+temper all of his gears to mythic and 150% extra defense+power. Now he can kill so many without dying but he has become a sad bitter person, just look at the video. Because of abysmal RNG in AA, only crazy morons who spend that much money can get to the point where they can just press a button and win. yes, by logical explanation this is pure pay2win but are you really interested in spending that much money to kill players in 2 hit and then bitch about it and finally stop playing?
