Beginning October 7th, Rift players will have to pony up more cash in order to be a Patron subscriber or to purchase credit packs for use in the game. Locking in a subscription now, however, will allow players to retain the current, lower Patron price once the new structure goes live.

    Milking the cow before it dies. Another reason I left Rift and was not wrong in doing so... Wont touch anything by Trion anymore....

    Would have been a more informative post if you had listed the old prices so we could see how much they are going up. Hey, maybe even do some math and give us a percentage increase as well! Imagine a world with good reporting. Be the reporter you want to read.

    Good god Trion, I was one of the fools buying into Devilian Alpha, now they are increasing their pricesfor subbing? That 115 quid spent on said alpha, only got me the extra's ON ONE CHAR!! This studio that I have supported since it's inception, has gone mad with it's price hiking and general greedy attitude!

    I would agree, there is no problem per say.  If the one month sub price hasn't changed, then that's the only important one in my opinion.  It gets you back to square one before the F2P switch.  "Normal" XP gains.

    No one that plays F2P games should be surprised about the cost of things in a cash shop.  Its the model most people want, most not "all".

    For those that "want" it you cant complain about what you asked for.

    Price is only going that much up for those who use Euro as currency, euro has fallen really hard against USD in last 6 months, at this point the proper conversion rate is almost 1:1, thus the price change seems like way too much for Euro currency user. it is inevitable, saying that even after currency rate drop they are not earning more is not going to hold here, I am playing from bangladesh, here 1$=80 BDT(my country currency), average income per month in my country is about 10000 BDT(125$), when i am spending money in any game i am paying in $$ and at the price the publishers are asking, so i think Euro users really have no ground complaining about price.

    that percent price increase is only for euro currency users.

    Only one character? are you sure? i thought they said when game goes live you will be able to redeem the items on every character you create? if it is just one character then it is simply sad. this should be another lesson why people should not try to buy their way into alpha or beta test. we should be getting paid for testing incomplete games, not pay publishers/developers for doing their work.

    they did release solid expansion with Storm legion and nightmare tide and also gave away all content for free. With 3.4 they are bringing more to nightmare tide and 4.0 expansion is already in development. Anyone can play from 1-65 without paying a dime and complete all raid and dungeon too. Trion somehow has to make money to continue doing what they are doing.

    I used to consider Rift's f2p model as the best I've ever seen and they were one of my top developers. I've played Rift on and off since Beta a month at a time probably 6 times, the game was never amazing just mediocre with a cool class system. It's been clear the game has been dying for years now, servers are just empty. Yet, after ArcheAge I'll never give Trion another penny.

    If I was Trion I would introduce a Glyph monthly payment like Daybreak Gaming where you can play all the games under same sub. Say 20$/month your have sub all Glyph games. I would consider that option cause I hate the free to play restrictions but also won't sub to many games separate.

    I used to really rate RiFT and Trion very highly but these days I wouldn't touch any of their games. Rift still has a terrible engine, with broken SLI support (for over a year now) and they want to charge more money are they joking?

    Squeeze out more money so the bean counters won't fire upper management this month. Hmmn it could work, but with wild star and gw2 finally free not sure this will suffice. The only mystery in life is why the kamikaze pilots wore helmets.

    So the EU will be paying the same amount as NA?  I'm not sure what I'm seeing here that people are getting mad at.  It's not the fault of Trion that the Euro is falling in value.  Granted, I'm still in the belief that monthly fees should be $9.99-12.95 nowadays... But that's due to playing way back when games were $9.99 a month before the premium set in.  In addition to playing a fame right now that offers a $12.95 deal with FFXIV.

    The alleged Devillian scandel whereby you only have access to your $115 worth of items on one characters (of which some are saying it may be on every character once it's released) is pretty scammy, if true.

    In my opinion, I'd be more concerned with the fact you can buy raid-level gear in Rift.  Though that was just told to me by someone who raided.
    Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

    Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

    I am at a loss for how this is a good idea. Does this do anything other than make it less enticing for people to buy more RIFT at once? Is it a cash flow issue or, I wonder, do they see players drop off more if they buy multiple months at a time? Doesn't explain the credit increases though.

    This is really sad... I LOVE(D) Rift and still play it.. However this last expansion really turned me a bit sour over it. The first time they implemented paywalls (Unable to equip certain gear pieces due to not purchasing a pack_\) the 64-65 grind is TERRIBLE even with a xp potion and patron so it almost FORCES you to sub, and now this. If the new cheapest Primalist pack is anything more than 30 bucks I will be passing it up for sure. I mean, why would you jack up prices when you know so much competition is out and coming out. Wildstar is F2P which will steal a lot of players IMO, ESO is F2P, and even games like Tera and Neverwinter still beat it in population. And when people want to sub, they're gonna sub FFXIV or SWTOR. (Or WoW for all those crazy "Never leave WoW" folks lol) Good luck with that Trion.

    Yeah you can buy Teir 1 raid gears with $$. Currently the highest you can get by raiding is Teir2. T2 may or may not be available for $$ with 3.4 update when they add Tier 3 raids. But selling Tier gears in cash shop has a bad effect in PvP. They said they were going to change up PvP mechanics to reduce gear effect, but so far we got nothing and people who do PvE are wrecking PvP players with PvE gears...
