Not really digging the new reqs. for Bis EX

Bane82Bane82 Member UncommonPosts: 1,242
While I completely understand that Square is trying to encourage a more social aspect to grouping with the new EX fights. I constantly feel disheartened because I can hardly ever find a party to do these. Which makes it feel like I'm missing out on further story line. Honestly they should've kept it the same as the other EX battles. Please don't tell me "start your own" because I've tried multiple times. It doesn't work anymore, because many players seem to have moved on to Alexander battles. Asking FC members doesn't always work either.

This is what I'm getting at. I feel like this pre-requisite, while well intentioned, it had the negative impact of leaving some of us behind and missing out.

Should elaborate or go to the official forums?

With esoteric i200 weapons available now there really is no point to even doing Bismark EX or Ravana EX for i170 / i180 weapons. This is an unfortunate consequence of the gear design by the dev team. No one is doing them because there are no rewards.

Well that's a disappointment then :( Honestly I was just doing them so I could see more story. But if what you're saying is true, that's a real shame. Haven't logged on for weeks now, and mainly only to see if a party is forming. I usually end up logging off after 30 mins of waiting. Shame because I really did enjoy the rest of the expansion. But now after finishing main quest line? I just don't know what to do :( there's only so many times you can do the same dungeon before saying... meh...

I said this way back in FFXI when they introduced it,the item level design is a horrible design and one of the main reasons i quit playing their games.
There is a reason we were playing FFXI and not WOW,we din't like anything Blizzard was doing,so what does Square do to reward their faithful, they start copying bad designs from other games.

The worst kind of content is instanced content, again a WOW design.Item level ,instancing avatar fights is all just lazy game development and i don't like it.

I have no problem with grouping or forced grouping,it was a staple of FFXI and many complained their as well. However i have been saying it for a long time,LINEAR game play is an awful way to design a game,it forces everyone in one direction and makes old content obsolete. That is also another area Square and all the rest have never got right. They make newer content further push people away to new zones.

The one idea i did like from FFXI was adding in npc's to fill out your group, sure it can encourage a ton of soloists but it is needed to match the poor game design. In the old days of FFXI we spent years leveling classes,it kept the entire game looking busy and kept players busy. Then because of greed they started to make leveling easier, too easy and classes less significant, less options. The way Square designs games now you might as well throw away disk 1/2/3/4/5 and just insert disk 6 because all that old content is no longer usable, might as well delete it.

They do a great job with textures.graphics, story telling, characters, mobs, crafting but that is about it,they need some new blood that knows how to bring a full game together not bits and pieces with much being mostly pieces of crap.

It sounds like i really hate the game, not at all,it is just not good enough for my standards.
I feel the game is close to a 6.5 or 7/10 with most other games a 5/10 or worse,so it is not that terrible but it is also not a complete well done game.

Unless they stray from linear progression in this game, the only result I can see is absurdly high item levels and character levels, continuing into the 100's. I would much rather have specialized my character and items staying at level 50 then rushing into level 60 and i200 gear. Even the secondary stats on the items have been given little to no thought other than accuracy.

Our group started late on Final Coil and we were so excited to have i130 gear in June, then suddenly when Heavensward comes out at the end of June, within a few hours of gameplay we are getting i140+ gear from dungeons. I can't see anyone going back to do any Coil, which is really unfortunate because I still think T9 and T13 are the most interesting fights in the game.

Nearly every real fan of FFXI will agree with you here. (Not saying 'the other side' aren't real fans, but people that hated building sets like haste sets, pdt sets, etc, generally didn't stick with this game.

The worst kind of content is instanced content, again a WOW design.Item level ,instancing avatar fights is all just lazy game development and i don't like it.

I would disagree here. Instanced content doesn't have to be bad, XI just did it bad (lockouts etc) and sloppily (famous case of one Einherjar getting two loot crates, while the other got two insane bosses).

But the alternative is HNM camping, and that was terrible and just created animosity between linkshells and between members when the NM was finally in your playtime window, but your MT had to work that day.

Agreeing again. Having two pieces that are so close to identical, that are equally easy/difficult to obtain, and for the same jobs just makes no sense. It literally seems like a waste of a database row. You imagine that they have a slot machine that picks a random data set, a random clipart for the icon, and random skin for the appearance.

@it is needed to match the poor game design. Eh, not really. Every MMO I've ever played has this problem. Once the population has no use for the content, getting a group for it becomes really difficult. WoW, XI, XIV 1 & 2. For instance, I prefer tanking or healing in MMOs. I just do, so getting groups while leveling one of these was usually pretty easy, but playing a DPS always sucked. Groups were never immediate.

Things like Level Sync, and the ability to recruit/train NPC help for obselete content makes perfect sense and is something most mmos should emulate.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

Had they just put an i190 ring on Bismarck Ex from the start it would have gotten a lot more traffic prior to the Esoteric gear coming out.  It essentially became a stepping stone for Ravana Ex who had a weapon 15 item levels higher and was immediately an obsolete piece of content for people that cleared it, which makes it difficult for everyone else who didn't get a clear in the first couple of weeks.
