How much did WoW copy from EQ?

in Everquest II

The games look very similar by a fast look, I've always compared stuff with how much they copy WoW but now it seems the right thing to do is compare to EQ serie.

Of course some stuff is copied from WoW too but that's not my point here.

How is it really? If you have had good experience with both of them, your analazys is warmly welcome.

    The original EQ sort of set the standard for all PvE MMOs, in my opinion, so of course WoW did in that respect.

    I know somone will bring up the quest markers....but EQ online adventures for PS2  had thos first!

    how much did EQ copy from UO, MUD's and DnD tabletop games? WoW copied absolutely nothing that was original in EQ as nothing was truly original.

    I think most EQ1 and UO vets will disagree with you there.The 2 games are/were totally different in nearly all aspects of play.

    WoW had a very specific intent on copying EVERYTHING from EQ. After that, they just cut off the parts that didn't wok or weren't fun, and fine tuned the formula to as close to perfection as they deemed fit. Make no mistake, even the early dev interviews state that the intent of WoW's basic gameplay was to be "EQ done right."

    That said, EQ2 != EQ

    The original developers of EQ, up to the Velious expansion, had absolutley NOTHING to do with EQ2. Hell, they didn't even have anything to do with EQ after Luclin. EQ2 is an entirely unique vision of SOE, for better or worse. I'm really not sure why this belongs in the EQ2 forums.

    Can you shut up for a moment please? I want to know what they took FROM EQ to WOW!

    I did not ask for the evolutionary development line of MMORPG's, I don't want to go back to whatever someone stole from Jesus while he was wearing his dipers :) I knew someone like you would show up hehehe, on to subject!
