Can somone tell me, will this game support the necromancer class? I get it, they dont want Dark elves, but excluding the necromancer class is a high fantasy suicide, will it be a path in the summoners skill tree or isnt it playable?
I am not fan if they will make a very general summoner who can summon more or less to wide range of creatures and somewhat acts like a mix of different classes from EQ like mages, necros or whatever. I rather prefer more focused classes like a true necromancer class and hope it will come in one of their "mini" expansion instead together with the bard class. Maybe one of the devs can enlight us or someone who knows more. If they do a necro class with a skel pet like in EQ preluclin I will definitely play one.
- The Elf picture kind of looks like a Darkelf, not like a typical High or Wood Elf
- There are two types of Elf - Ashen and Ember. Possibly the Ember is the Darkelf
- There are also the Dark Myr, which kindof sortof look like Darkelves, at least when they arent in the water and get their fishtail. So maybe they are the Darkelves of PRotF, just like the Skar are the Pantheon Trolls.
- Darkelf is one of the most popular fantasy races, one way or another they are probably still "in"
- No Necromancer in the current list of 12 classes
- No subclasses announced yet. In fact only 12 class names and a sentence or two per class so far.
- I also dont expect Necromancer to be introduced as a subclass
- Nevertheless I would expect subclasses, at least for the Cleric, at least in an expansion
- Bards are announced as a 13th, expansion class in the official forum.
- Theres also "The Secret Class", a 14th and second expansion class. Theres hope thats the Necromancer. Then again many other great classes could be possible - Blood Mage, Inquisitor, Berserker, Disciple. Or something from other games, like the Mesmer from Guild Wars. Or some completely new class concept.
- When Bards and Necromancer are introduced, I would hope/assume they will be less overpowered than in Vanguard.

If the Vanguard Necromancer was something NOT, then focused.
DoTs, pet class, debuffs, buffs, Fake Death, later Raise Dead, etc etc etc. Necro had all kinds of tools.
A summoner class, now that would actually be focused.
