Although I don't play the game as much anymore & haven't enjoyed the direction STO has taken logistically the last couple of years STO is still a good game & that was a good trailer. Here's to hoping season 11 is better & keeps improving STO instead of a continuation of a treadmill reiteration.

How is it that this game has not closed yet? The IP license must have been dirt cheap...

Pretty simple: because it is making money. Whether you personally like the game or not is completely irrelevant to its profitability.

Well....there is a lot of depth to STO. There is also quite a bit of game play variety. The content generally tells a good story. Lots of updates and new features. Complex build system that requires players to actually think. Finall y it's star trek, no elves allowed. Just my two cents, your milage may vary.

It isn't on the list of "the 25 best mmo's of all time". Must be a misprint.

Do you have any proof of that or is it just the fact the servers are still running? I could site you several examples of games losing money that are still running if that is the case. I ask this because the last PWI financial statement blamed losses on their North American operations which means Cryptic. I also remember that Cryptic never had a profitable quarter when under Atari. I'm not trying to hate, just asking if you have access to some new information.

Because people have no regard for quality anymore and they'll continue to spend money on trash.

Been wondering that myself so I'd love to hear about it especially since I myself and my whale lifer friends left the moment they took explorations out and made them into a facebook game.

Why is it that whenever there is a story about Star Trek Online people like you appear and say the same boring unfounded crap? What is it about STO that you dislike so much? Is it because there are no dragons, or big titted babes running around? Is it because in order to be good at pvp you actually have to study long and hard to learn the build mechanics? Is it because it's too geeky? Is it because you don't like Star Trek? FYI Cryptic are going from strength to strength and STO is doing very well indeed thank you very much. In our fleet armada (that's like a big guild) there are over 1500 players with 170 online daily. New content is regularly released and new gear and ships continually updated. Sure the game has had it's problems, particularly this time last year, but top management has changed and most players would agree it's moving in the right direction now. It really pisses me off when people like you feel they have to slag something off they know nothing about just to fit in with the crowd, try doing some research before writing your crap on here, try being an individual with a real opinion rather than just another sheep.

i hope they turn it down a notch or two in this one, the last one was way over the limit

if youre going with the doomsday theme, at least make it PLAUSIBLE

the last one had so many dimensions/ time travels, etc. ,that we simply stopped caring about the

    story

Even if you were serious such a list couldn't be taken seriously. You get a different list each time by putting different criteria on top.

The sheep were the ones that bought lifetime subs when the game released AFTER the terrible beta reviews came out. But that is neither here nor there.

This is just another Cryptic game, and just as shallow, as their others. You like it? Fine, there is no accounting for taste. But "hating" on people because they might not worship your Precious? Typical for fans of "bad" games.

The question hinged on the fact that most well known, outside IPs (like Star Wars, Stargate, whatever) usually have some pretty hefty fees associated with their use.  STO is "F2P", has been out a long while, and still has to pay that fee. And many, many fewer people play this game as opposed to the numbers in years past.

How is asking that question slagging anyone or anything?
