Due out later this fall on the PC, Underdark, is the newest Module for Neverwinter. Underdark is tied in neatly with the current Wizards of the Coast season Rage of Demons. Last week Rob talked to lead game designer Scott Shicoff to find out what all this module entailed. Read on to see what we learned besides the fact that Scott is a huge Electric Mayhem and the Muppets fan.

No new class or race. Seems like a really underwhelming module.

this game is just about dead anyways. They changed their bags to bind on equip with a bug emailing bags auto equip and refused to fix it to this day. Then they took all astral diamonds from leadership further pissing off the community but didnt even try to address the inflation of cash shop needed items on the auction house. I give this game a year tops before its shut down. Their business decisions might work well in asia but in the west people are not going to play a mediocre game that nickles and dimes you as bad as this one with many better options on the market.

The IP is fucking awesome, TO BAD WIZARD OF THE COAST, fails again and again, to trust the wrong developers, imagine a true mmorpg sandbox in the forgotten realms settings, the possibility is endless. Instead we get all these neo high fantasy mmos, cause the marketing directors at wizard.co have no clue about what ppl want in a gaming scenario, i dont argue against, neverwinter rpg or baldurs gate, but those arent a interresting module as a mmorpg, ive read all the forgotten realm novels, the stuff in there would make a cult mmorpg, if had it been made by a true visionary company and as a sandbox mmo.

Well, I just can't stand the instanced rooms. I feel like in a cage while playing this. Other than that it would be very enjoyable.

This may be the Module (expansion) that stops the deterioration of the game - or consigns it further into the what might have been category. Before this module arrives Cryptic need to stop.....then: ->Fix the major bugs - some of these have been with the game for months if not years. ->Sort the current classes out - there are broken feats in every class. In some cases entire feat trees. ->Get some kind of class balance into pvp - not asking for perfection, just anything would be better than the two class king of the hill situation at present. -> Rework the AD rewards - these need a real hard look. The removal of leadership AD was a ham-fisted action with no thought into any replacement mechanisms. -> Do another overhaul of the lvl 60-70 quest rewards. It is bad enough revisiting low level areas filled with higher mobs, but the repetitive quests are boring as hell. -> Rethink the character progression paths for newer players - currently there is no way that these players can get anywhere near the levels of longer term players. This goes back to the rework AD rewards point. -> Stop introducing new content that just increases the number of bugs in the game. I don't know how many times the player base has asked for this. -> Listen to the consensus player feedback from the preview shard. Currently there appears to be little or no point in giving constructive feedback on new content, as it is just not listened to. The Elemental Evil Module is a prime example of this. -> Re-hire some of the programming staff, or get some new people on board. The lead time to fix anything is either woeful or non-existent. -> Get GM's into the game now and again. Do not underestimate the positive impact this would have on the player base -> Take serious action against bots. The leadership AD removal was a rushed, ill-thought, knee jerk action that hasn't impacted on the bots at all. Now we are seeing over 2000 instances of the Ghost Stories instance open, purely due to the number of bots running it. -> Lower the cash shop prices - this again crosses over to the leadership AD removal, and also to the point on new players in the game. Summary: Cryptic, you have progressively deteriorated the quality, enjoyment and content of this game. Your recent action from Module 6 onward, has seen an alarming reduction in player numbers, which is still ongoing. If this upcoming Module follows the same path as your other recent actions, it will only result in a continuing decline in player numbers. No new races, no new classes - this just highlights the lack of development team resource which the player base has experienced for some time now. Your pattern of launching poorly checked content, making knee jerk decisions, producing re-skinned areas as new content, removal of existing dungeons, sky high prices, and the utter silence to player issues - is an ongoing path of game and player number deterioration.

judgeuk to be fair i think cryptic has about a 5% influence in anything at all to do with astral diamonds currency and cash shop prices. Most of that is typical perfect world breathing down their neck to increase revenue on a dwindling playerbase. The rest I'm sure has everything to do with cryptic but they have lost staff due to perfect world cutting corners which is your typical asian pay to win company out of china.

I despise perfect world but do not blame cryptic for everything, though they do deserve some of the blame for not standing up for their playerbase about costs and they could prioritize polish and bug fixes. But I also firmly believe that they have very little say in their own game because anyone who has played perfect world games know they 150% do not give a shit about their playerbases at all until forced to by dying games. Look at all their lineup to this day and how crappy their games really are. Also it doesnt help that they have mod nazi's on their official forums that ban or delete posts that are fair and well worded but critical of this pay to win company.

The have hands down THE WORST gaming forum on the internet. It's completely useless. The mods that oversee it seem to have no idea what a forum is supposed to be.
i actually got a temp ban here for cussing out one of their moronic mods that came here trying to PR a old fiasco on the perfect world forums for neverwinter. It honestly was worth it here to because I hardly get mad at internet people but those mods on the forums there deserve every little bit of hate they get and deserve to be cussed out everytime they post. They are the worst forum nazi fanbois I have ever in my life seen and to think their meaningless lives are so worthless they dont even get paid to moderate their forum yet they do it with a heavy ass hand.

Cryptic is the development company. The ongoing introduction of bugged content and broken feats/feat trees has got to be laid at their doorstep. However, I do understand the point about Perfect World and the influence they would have on some of the larger decisions. I am trying to think of the ways that this game could be turned around to how it used to be. The ways to do it are there, but I have to question the will.

Horrible game decisions everywhere. So glad I left. The combat had so much promise though and the PvP could have been the best in an MMO yet. Oh well.
