Can anyone please explain how on earth...

Guild Wars 2 became the 2nd best MMORPG of all time? I mean, I haven't even downloaded it yet after turning into F2P, so someone please enlighten me...

It had 1 expansion come after 3 years and virtually no PvE. The PvP is as meaningless as in any other casual themepark, especially how it's 100% build/skill dependant. So, someone again please enlighten me how on earth Guild Wars 2 is the 2nd best MMORPG of all time by MMORPG.com?

    It is subjective.

mmorpg.com polled people with what MMOs were the best MMO of all time and it seems the staff they polled really liked GW2. So maybe stop freaking out and try it. It was a fun 2 years of game time for me and the PvP is really well done for what it is. Little zergy but still unlike you say, not meaningless as its PvP with Server pride at stake and lots of fun castles / keeps to take down.

Can anyone please link me that article again? I'm probably too blind or it already slipped too far back on the forums, but i can't find it right now.

I enjoyed it very much, until the day I'v hit max level! HUH!
Still its one of the best user friendly designed MMO's. When you go play Mortal Online/DF you simply have no idea what to do not just by its complication but because of lack of pro design - GW2 is the masterpiece of this (and sux at endgame).

It's my number one game so far.  IMO.  Short learning curve so it's easy to pickup again if you leave for awhile.  Great combat that flows well.  You're level drops to lower zones, so you never over level zones leaving more of the game always available.  Lots of choices, you can play the game and nothing is mandatory to reach max level, you can pick and choose. Not a buggy game.  Can sell to auction house from any location, makes it easy to manage inventory.  Most players are very helpful.  Most of all I agree with their philosophy of making leveling easy cause most players want to max out then do stuff.  I could go on.

It's not perfect but it matches my play style more then any MMO at the moment.

Honestly by the looks of your post you just want to crap all over it because you don't have enough sense to look at it objectively.  The game is loaded with pve.....  There are pve events all over the world of npc's walking all over the place unlike just about any other mmo on the market right now.  The pvp is ranked and the wvw is also ranked and they have wvw unlike almost any other mmo on the market.  The classes are balanced unlike any other mmo on the market.  You don't feel like a grind getting to max level at all,  unlike almost every mmo on the market.  Skilled players are vastly superior to noobs reguardless of builds or gear.  They have pve bosses all over the world.  They do have hard dungeons maybe a lot of players don't like this.  They have what is called a living world in which there are changes to areas for major events.  They do this all the time without charging a monthly fee.  Each server has their own public teamspeak paid for by the players  *nice community*.  Crafting is fun and actually usefull,  unlike most other mmo's.  They invented more ways to level then any mmo I have ever seen.

I believe GW2 is not the second best mmo.  It is clearly the best MMORPG ever created to date.

Are you onto something or just on something?

It's just a very high quality game (with no sub fee) and an above average community.

Also the only mmo with events instead of freaking quests (that I've played). Fuck quests. I also hate mounts , raids that drop better gear, and the tank / heal / dps trinity.

There aren't many mmos that have these traits so if you're looking for them GW2 will be the best thing for you out right now.

He does this to all themeparks.  He has projected themeparks like WoW, GW2, Ffxiv and Swtor will be dead by...well one week it was 2016 then two days later he changed it to 2017.  Who knows what he is projecting now...best to ignore any topic related to themeparks from him.

As for the OP it's  actually a rather simple explanation .  MMORPGS have past you by...it's just something you need to accept and move on.

I came back after 2 year break myself and the ui looked exactly the same it did when I left.  Maybe the minimap might be different.  This is one major gripe I do have against the game is the ui and how limited you are in customization.  But hey no game is perfect.

The skill system changed a few months back. Some people like it, others don't.

It is fun, and really solid made. When I play it, I do all kinds of solo/group content, from spvp and www to clearing maps, doing dungeons, events, and fractals and I like the freedom it gives me.
However I like a bit more of a challenge than the endgame gives me. So for me it's a game that I revisit a couple of times a year, have fun, and then move back to my current favorite, Wildstar.

Can anybody tell me why chess is one of the best strategy board games of all time? I mean it virtually has no strategy in it...
