advice for a new laptop

  I bought my wife an ASUS Chromebook a couple yrs ago for just general use. She's still using it and having no issues. She does no heavy gaming of any kind, just really Facebook and some streaming of music and movies.

  Asus and Lenova are good basic laptops.  I just bought my mom a Lenova over labor day weekend (in the USA) and got it for 50% off.  It's very nice, slim and very light weight.  My mom loves it.  It was a great birthday present.  Figured I'd share.

  I would go with asus or dell pref asus but I would personally go with an inspiron 17 5000 http://www.dell.com/us/p/laptops?~ck=mn#!facets=280848~0~18078820&p=1
  or for something cheaper http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-5558-laptop/pd?oc=fncwv2358h&model_id=inspiron-15-5558-laptop or a chrome book but I dont know how long they will really last and there kinda flimsy by design.

  Do you actually need a laptop, or would something like a chromecast work?

  she still needs a computer for basic computer use and i wanted to get her a wireless keyboard and mouse so she can use our flatscreen as a monitor.
