Usually when someone who works for a company, writes about how great that companies products are and then has it published on the front page of a industry (MMO) website. It is called an advertisement. It would be like a Corvette engineer singing the praises of the new 2016 car and having it published in Car and Driver as an opinion piece. Come on man!! Come on!!
TERA is a great game with amazing combat. I played the hell out of it for awhile. I think it's definitely worth a try if you're looking for an MMO and something different than the usual tab-target games.
Not a bad game. I come back to it from time to time.

I like the action combat. Certainly much better than the tab-target. What I don't like about the game is the community. It's like Wow trade chat only 100x worse. I think the avg age of a Tera player is probably 13. To difficult to enjoy the game when you have a community like that.

Hey All,
I’m Patrick Sun, producer on TERA (you can find me in the game as treesharkeme). I wrote this simply as an opinion piece and mmorpg.com was kind enough to publish it. To clarify, these are opinions shared by us at En Masse Entertainment, and more over we thought this was a fun way to express them. Our “Top Ten” wasn’t implying that TERA was the first or only MMO to combat any of these myths, but rather us sharing how we do it and our thoughts. We are as passionate about MMO’s as anyone here and always welcome a lively discussion about the MMO genre and TERA!
Thanks,
Patrick
not really a opnion is more a PR thing trying to misslead people, just read waht I posted, everything you asked is not true and other games did better, tera was more comparated to aion in the days and it really did happen like I said it took a year for you guys start to push the f2p for lack of people
Nice ad, En Masse PR Team,

I got to cap in TERA on a Warrior. SUPER fun combat class. It's just a shame the rest of the game is TERAble.

Someone who played both Aion and TERA, I was kinda skeptical about Bluhole founder and developers being jailed for stealing from NCSoft but after playing TERA all of my skepticism went away, there was no doubt in my mind that they did steal. Exactly the same UI as Aion, opening the quest interface was even a bigger slap in the face and then i found out just like Aion every few level we get main story quest automatically, they appear on the screen as notification exactly the same way as Aion. Then came crafting interface and crafting professions along with their schematics, completely copy pasted from Aion. Then the main capital Velike and it's transport system, copy pasted from Aion. And there were also a lot more, apparently other than graphics and action combat, the game was directly copy pasted from Aion, it was a horrible experience for me. I don't know how the game is now but there is no way i am going to play that game ever again.

When they release a new male class I'll play again, it drives me nuts that $hits gender race class locked... he sure didn't address that Asian elephant in the room in the TERA add.
TERAs combat is far from being real action combat, and when you are rooted half the time, it's hard to avoid attacks, too. Try Vindictus or Blade and Soul for action combat.
Vindictus is also the one MMO with (IMHO) the most freedom regarding your outfit. You can run around in speedos as both guys and gals, but you can also cover yourself in 10 inch steel from head to toe - again, both genders. And you can do so almost right away, the first few armors are quite different. And thats without any costumes.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but TERA hardly busts any of those. It wasn't the first, it's not the best, it's not the one who busts *most* of those myths..and it certainly wasn't "built" to bust them. Best evidence? It's been released for 3 years until it's producer comes up with a list of myths it busts, instead of it being advertised as such all along.

.
Bro, Vindictus has animation locks as well, they're just shorter. Animation locks are a big part of action combat systems in games like Devil May Cry or God of War, and in fighting games like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear. They create an opportunity cost for all things, forcing players to decide which ability/combo is best suited for a situation. Stronger abilities leave you more open to being attacked while weaker abilities allow for more mobility - with some being specifically designed to make you mobile.
You seem to misunderstand how action combat works.

Wow these forums have become hate parties. No real discussion, no constructive criticism just bile. How very sad.
The funny thing is if you go to the FF14, GW2, ESO, TOR, or other game forums and spout the same drivel you can see their nerd rage meter pop.
Now if they printed some drivel like this about EQ1 or UO or one of their "spiritual successors" still in development you can bet people here would line up to heap praise on the author.
is this author serious? is this is a paid advertisement masquerading as an "article". anyone who has played TERA.. oh nvm this site is rapidly becoming useless
