Does the whole latency problem still exist?

DeathofsageDeathofsage Member UncommonPosts: 1,102
At launch, there were two latency-related problems that infuriated a lot of people.

- The polling rate was set long so it was quite a common occurrence for a person to be out of a bad-zone ("telegraphed" attack) and still get hit by it.

- Possibly latency related, the problem of abilities getting consumed (timer reset) without actually taking effect.

Are these still problems / the nature of the game, or did SE ever fix them?

If you're EU, ask again after the 20th of this month.

Of all things, I was looking at something else and found this (old) video demonstrating an ability being consumed.

She flashes twice, uses rampart, rampart doesn't take effect but the cd is triggered. She waits for the CD, flashes, uses rampart, and it does take effect.

They've increased the polling rate in some areas (I think all instances, but not open world areas), and are now opening EU data center which should help with the problem for those living in or close to Europe, so AoE avoiding has been improved.

It's still a problem, though. You can learn to live with it, but it's still a problem.
