Shroud of the Avatar gets new content just in time for All Hallows Eve, so you can expect the 23rd release to contain all sorts of tricks and treats. Plus, this month has seen some needed focus on some of the… shadier… elements of role play. Red Thomas traveled to Austin and spoke with the team to learn more.

I keep trying to play this game, there were at first huge performance issues, they got them sorted out, kind of, then the last time I tried the game it was choking along in the smallest most barren areas, this is on a high end gaming rig, built for doing one thing, rendering games...fast.
I also have trouble getting any flow going, maybe because its so heavily instanced? Its a bunch of tiny zones with invisiwalls and forest like billboards penning you in.
And combat...... I'm not going to bash it but its not, I don't know how to explain it. It doesn't seem to be a core component of the game, maybe like 5% of development effort went into it.
I hope it gets better because I like the concept in general, so far just not the execution.
Maybe its built to be an interactive chat room or something and I just don't get it.
