The Demon Hunter is World of Warcraft's new Hero Class coming with the Legion expansion sometime in the summer of 2016 (here's hoping sooner rather than later). At BlizzCon 2015, we got our hands on the new class and played through its introductory zone, Mardum - The Shattered Abyss. Read on for full details and impressions!

Summer of 2016? Thats about 18 months between WOD and the next expansion. Considering that the amount of content lasts no where NEAR 18 months I do not see myself playing this game anymore (played 9 straight years) as long as the developer cycle is set up this way. All I felt the last years is a feeling that I had fun 3-4 months after a release, and then I have to wait 15 more months to have fun again. Thats not a good business model...

Well on the other hand it give the people lagging behind a chance to catch up and the people who get back in/jump on now a chance to get in synch with the rest of the community. =) Also i am sure that Blizzard by now are confident enough in the nubers their product will pull that they do not fear the drop in subs as much. They are the old king now, no one will ever be able to touch their reign and they have other games lining their coffers. So i think they are going back to the old Blizzard idea of "it is done when it is done" Also Demonhunters are a big enough pull that it will get butts in the seats one the expansion drops.

This have been a good conversation

I'm not really impressed. Seen all this way too many times, all the constantly re-used skins, models and assets.I'm also not the biggest fan of this general "fel" theme and think it's way overused.

I wish they would have gone for a shadow/demon hunter class instead, ranged without a pet and brought ths xpack closer to the vanilla roots of the game.

Still have to manually insert my own html for a paragraph, which is beyond lame by now.

So what is all the crying about.  From what i see, approximately 2 years between expansions.  And they are sticking to that schedule.  Nope, not a WoW fanboi.....yes i have played it a lot but always just something to do between games.

It seems the playerbase wants more now.  Makes me wonder what has changed from today's attitude to that of the players in 2007.  Myself, i think they made the game to easy, hence finishing content quicker and running out of things to do.

concidering ALL addons have been released after 2 years now, this ain't a surprise tho, but notmal addon behaviour. you say you cleared the content? in HC?

I'm still trying to rationalize the art/model of the demon hunter....

They promised quicker expansion releases. The content of an expac is poor enough, but there is so little in between that they really cannot justify a sub now when other MMOs can give stuff for free. Blizzard doing its milking thing and will continue to do so all the while people pay them.

I can't be bothered to watch the trailer as I won't be buying it, as I have no desire to support the milking of the players for little reward.

What I do wonder though, is will they be taking things to a new depth by keeping the farmville game i.e. the garrisons, or will they get people out into the world actually doing stuff (providing they give you stuff to do) once the 1 month of content is used up?

The problem, by and large, is that the quality of the expansions has gotten worse. Let me explain what I mean:

BC had the Sunwell campaign, which was a very big deal at the time and quite a good timesink as well. Certainly no match for today's quality, but bear in mind how early in WoW's history this is.

Taking wrath as a good example, do you remember the Argent Tournament near the tail end of the expansion? That was a massive timesink, and also unbelievably satisfactory in a lot of ways including introducing new mechanics.

Cataclysm gave us molten front, but I believe it slipped up.

Mists of Pandaria featured a VERY high quality story just before it's SoO slog with Landfall, a campaign that saw you kept busy for quite some time and felt rewarding. Timeless Isle sealed that deal. And THEN Isle of Thunder. The slog was still unbearable due to no content, but at least we had good content in the patches before that.

What precisely has WoD given us beyond Tanaan? WoD's content patches have been dryer then ever. Previous expansions gave us a lot of content -after- the expansion had already been released, but WoD has not. Tanaan is decent, but in the end it's really nothing more then a zone of daily quests with one or two occasional quests lumped in.

Keeping in mind that it has had precisely ONE major patch before that, and only to add a raid, and maybe you can see the problem. Yes, the wait period is the same, but there is MUCH less to do in that period.

Much less! Just what are we supposed to do for 15 months, gather Apexis crystals? Most of us already have everything on that vendor by now.

And that, in a nutshell, is why people are more upset now then they where before.

The class model and weapons look absolutely goofy. I'm not expecting much traction out of this expansion.
