As the final day of Blizzcon 2015 gets underway, we're here to provide the most up-to-the-minute details from the World of Warcraft panels. Today's include a look at Legion's game systems and an open developer Q&A to round out the annual convention. Read it all here as it happens!

And here we go!

Artifacts

At an example, the team is showing the Deadwind Harvester, an artifact for Affliction Warlocks. Players are sent on a quest beneath Karazhan.

In Broken Isles, to gain Artifact Powers to unlock abilities

  • quest bosses

  • rare spawns

  • rare drops

  • dungeon bosses

  • raid bosses

  • battlegrounds

With power, the artifact tree unlocks, the first of which is an ability to be placed on your skill bar. Some skills can be "leveled" up to three times, others only once that may be a passive, for instance. Modifiers are also included that can enhance traits.

There is progression long past player level 110. This is end game progression, months into the expansion to fully unlock the weapon tree.

Players will also pick up Relics, special items to socket into the artifact to increase power of the artifact. These give bonus ranks in traits. It's a form of specialization for the type of gameplay that's most interesting. Artifacts will get a major upgrade at max level that unlocks a new model. Each weapon can get several different looks and many colors to further customize.

Class Halls

Locations should represent the class. A group that can welcome in the greatest variety of members of that class. A cause dedicated to defeating the Legion.

Druids' home - The Dreamgrove - where the veil between the Emerald Dream & Azeroth is at its thinnest.

Class Hall features

  • empower artifacts

  • class champions - will unfold their back stories

  • interacting with table quests where you choose what zone you want to explore

  • class content - major artifact lines, intermittent flavorful things for specific classes

  • class features and bonuses

Demon Hunters

  • choose horns, blindfold, tattoos, skin textures

  • Havoc - DPS melee spec with an emphasis on mobility. "Fight fire with more fire". Fury is its custom resource. Metamorphosis - Leap into the air and land with explosive force. Player transforms to demon form in mid-air. Landing with 100% life leech.

  • Vengeance - a Demon Inquisitor - protective spells, inflicts pain. A strong defensive cooldown for metamorphosis -- like making it an immovable object.

Items

  • Rare items that can drop from anywhere

  • Power is relevant throughout the expansion because they're rare

  • Unique effects

  • These items are "Legion-dary" -- not just one for the entire expansion

Every item that drops in the game can scale up to the best items in the game.

Transmogrification

  • help clean up bank and inventory

  • expand customization options

  • collections

Wardrobe Collection

  • Item appearances are automatically added to the wardrobe

  • You can toss the item once unlocked

  • ACCOUNT WIDE

image

Outfits: save and share outfits to save as a "shopping list"

All item appearances in your bank, void storage and inventory are automatically unlocked. Also items awarded from every quest you've ever completed will be added including items you may not have chosen! Save different looks per class specialization. When you change specs, it'll keep up with you. You can hide slots INCLUDING SHOULDERS!

Three new transmoggable slots: Shirts, tabards and weapon effects

Professions

We want to give you more stuff to do, more content. Recipe acquisition is content-specific. It's important that players get out into the world, meeting epic characters, learning the backstory of the characters you meet.

Mining and herbalism nodes will be shared.

Recipes can 'level up' - rank them up from one star, two stars, three stars.

Trade skill UI has been expanded and overhauled. Reorder the recipes based on the ones you want to see. Learned & unlearned tabs.

image

Crafted gear should be special. Crafted jewelry comes with a guaranteed socket that can be class-specific. It should not be a carbon copy of raid gear.

Major glyphs have been removed from the game for Inscription. Minor glyphs will be applied to spells directly in the spellbook rather than an overall. Other runes are time-limited, say one week.

BACON is coming to LEGION!

Classes

Class fantasy is central to Legion. Take a hard look at classes and make them deliver on the fantasy.

  • Immersive

  • Distinct

  • Empowering

image

How we made the more empowering: No more staring at the UI to use the skills you want to use when you want to use them.

Major Talent Revisions - fewer theme rows; more choices that matter; more spec-specific talents; hundreds of new talents.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Even if two specs hold up to the "lore" of demon hunters, it still feels lazy.

Best mmorpg ever , all time greatest, the proof has been submitted and is now on display even more than ever, hail to the king, hail to World of Warcraft

To be fair the new Transmog system did get me... Sooo Like. Also them making Bear tanks tanky again... Druid tanking should be this visceral experience.

This have been a good conversation

I find it funny that Blizzard keeps coming up with ways to free up bag space and then turns right around and adds a ton of fodder in game designed to do nothing but fill up your bags.  I think I have 27 items that are rare that have dropped in WoD that would be nice to keep but theres no damn place to put it other than in your own bags/bank.

For God's sake... stop it.  It's like reading "You saved x amount on your car insurance premium" all the while your overall rate has gone up.  You didn't save a damn thing.  And we're not getting more storage space, they're taking away from it AS USUAL.

Keep players happy enough but slightly miserable. That formula is used in every one of their games. Style saver feature should've been in the game 5 years ago.

In what way? From a story telling perspective or mechanics or both? I don't think it's lazy. It looks awesome.

How about some word as to when flying will be introduced in the new expansion.
  • GreteldaGretelda Member UncommonPosts: 359
sounds great and it seems like an step toward the right direction. sadly too late though for me. this should have came out years ago. it is only coming out now because the game has lower subscription rate than what they have in mind. also i assume there is gonna be not many big updates until summer 2016 except for some events leading up to this expansion, that is if it already hasn't happened.

    my top MMOs: UO,DAOC,WoW,GW2

most of my posts are just my opinions they are not facts,it is the same for you too.

All faith is lost - most games have the transmog anyways, artifacts and rares seem dumb in players hands, and are people still getting raid gear from their farmville? The way they treated WoD - this seems like just a sad attempt to get some last minute subs before the game is completely stale.

    Another talent revision?
    Yawn....

The lack of discussion concerning Legion pretty much says it all. This is easily the least hyped WoW expansion ever. How they don't lose half their subscriptions by September is beyond me.

    Uh, no, not at all.

    Where did you see that?

"Major Talent Revisions - fewer theme rows; more choices that matter; more spec-specific talents; hundreds of new talents." Hundreds? Are talent trees coming back? If so I would go back to wow in a heartbeat. I left because I am unable to play games were every character is exactly alike, or pretty much exactly alike, minus gear. The skill tree modification of cataclysm was really bad, and then the removal of the talent system was the nail in the coffin for me.

This is the first expansion where I've seen them (sorta)admit that classes don't "deliver on the fantasy" anymore. Between artifact weapons and new talents perhaps there is hope.
  • XingbairongXingbairong Member RarePosts: 927

It seems that people have adopted this negative feeling towards WoW, but from what I've seen so fast this expansion should be 10 times better than WoD/MoP/Cataclysm. There are a lot of great changes being done + bringing some neat new stuff in as well.

I'm quite happy with what I'm seeing so far, but I'm still worried about the gap till the expansion hits.

A lot of people(myself included) will probably play Blade & Soul and Black Desert Online, so what I'm worried is that the game ends up not having enough subscribers when the time comes, because let's face it - if Blizzard have been putting this much effort in the previous expansions where they had 7-10 mil subscribers I can't imagine what would happen if they start averaging less than 5 mil subscribers, especially with the success of all the other Blizzard games. It just feels like they might divert a lot of their work force towards the other games since they will end up being more profitable.

No, there is not a "talent revision" in that they are changing the system again.

Most talents will now have a different version for all 3 specs of the class, which is where the "hundreds of new talents" comes from.

Talent trees are not coming back.

The artifact system sound like something that will become the worst grind this game has ever seen. No thanks.

Looking forward to these additions/changes. Too bad it's gonna take until June or whenever in summer to finally get in though. Ah well, it's not like I've completed everything there is to do in WoD yet.
  • MpfiveMpfive Member UncommonPosts: 308
And how much of this will make live when released?. After all the lies and content they cut from WOD

They will and they know it. It's why they stopped reporting sub counts every quarter

    June?

    No.

On or before September 21st, it's in the new trailer.

Of course, but you know as well as I do that there's no way in hell it will get released 3 months earlier.
