character creation is bad? (body customization)

To anyone who tried character creation in BD, do you like it?
Almost all videos i saw about BD mentioned how good BD character creation is, and was hyped for that alone.
But when I tried it in russians server (during open beta, before ip block), I hated it so much that i probably won't buy the game unless maybe gameplay (only played for a few hours at most).
Bur heard combat is to easy and boring , not sure on how west version will be.
Honestly BnS character customization seems better or even older games like aion.
Ironically i hated BnS because of characters, and liked BD for same reason.
Until I got in BnS closed beta and created my own character, and tried BD character creation to.
Hair style
- you only have available a few hair style which can be arranged however you like, But the result aren't that many "good" hairstyle. Games that offer 20 or more static hairstyle to choose from seems to be better and easier. More variety than slightly tilted hair that BD offers. It ain't bad tough, but ain't good either.
Face edit
- is actually good, but you can screw up more easily. Not really a problem tough. This part seems to be above other games, but not by that much.
Note: I actually was forced to change some options on my face, because on the options I liked, I could see space between textures on the face
Body
- this part sucks. I spend like 60 seconds here. You can't really edit it as much as i would like to. Body is tied with class, for example tamer have smaller breasts and archer have larger breast ( of course it's not only this). I hated my character, every tamer looked the same the only think that looked different was the hair but that is mostly because of color.
The faces look different, but who is looking at that when fighting or just passing by?
Vindictus which have like 5 sliders for body let you customize the body more(or at least that is the feeling I got)
I used to think BD is the best game with the best graphics and real looking characters. I was hoping i can make a character look like any other class I saw in the gameplay videos but you can't. You are stuck to your class limits.
It ain't bad per say, but why are people praising this? Am i missing something?

The amount of customization you can do is unparalleled in games we've seen so far, without being stupid (like giant heads in Aion).
Plus the interface is amazing.
This is a weird issue for me. If the gameplay is really good it becomes a non issue. If they game play is middle of the road or only somewhat good this will stop me from playing the game.
I can play a halfway decent game if I can play a character who represents what I want. But if this feature is gone I am gone.
Maybe the costumes are at fault? not sure but in 10 min I met 5 characters that looked almost identical to me.
I wanted to log in and try again, because i might have skipped some options, but then they banned ips lol.
To those who only saw videos about character creations and gameplay, maybe you noticed that almost all characters played by youtubers looked similar even between different classes but more noticeable on same classes.
If i create 100 characters in BnS or Aion, all of them will be different. Not sure I can do 10 in black desert.
More sliders doesn't equal more customization.
To me customization means that combining character customization + costume I won't meat people looking like me. BD kinda fails at that.
Then again I might be crazy.
That is why I made this topic, to determine if i'm crazy, pretentious or right.
Additionally, why did you come to the conclusion that the character creator was bad because you met other people who looked like you when you could have come to the conclusion that none of them did much with the character creator. Probably like you?
My guess is that people with patience and an artistic eye will do better with the tool and get the most out of it.

Did you just type I don't think Ill be playing a game because the thing you only do once at the beginning of the game and never really see again close up except at the login screen before you start playing didn't meet your expectations?
I don't think its an MMO that your looking for, maybe one of those dress up / make up games. In MMO's there is actually an entire game waiting for you after what is ultimately a non consequential character creation step that's then a tool used to experience the content.

2. some people do play mmorpg to dress up. I like when people say something about the way I look. It's not the main goal, but it is an personal achievement. Also heroes dress up. Imagine dc and marvel with civilian clothing all the time. Certainly not the same impact.

I complained that i will look the same as the other character next to me while playing. Exactly the opposite of what you said
All of the videos above show character creation screen, the face which I already said it was good. But what about the body and the build of the character?
Most other games offer different race for same class for variety.
If not races, you can change muscles mass, fat, height etc..
If you can't change that, you have preset body builds to choose from (like DC Universe)
I spent hours in APB reloaded character customization, on body customization alone.
What does black desert offer?
Put same class, side by side with same outfit and zoom out (gameplay zoom out). the Differences are minor even more so than other mmorpg.
Also even the face is debatable. From Default to end result, you can clearly see similarities. And i can't tell apart 2 pictures of the same girl with different make up in real life.
For example can you create a gandalf looking character for other classes like "giant" or "warrior"?
Why can't you be a giant and play as a mage? ( I get the lore, i used it just to point out that classes are not just gender locked)
In terms of variety BDO reminds me of dragon nest which barely has any options on customization.

BnS has clearly the best variety.

You need to zoom in really close to see the difference.
Well I'm not sure what i want really, It might have been a mistake to start this thread without the game being out and experimenting a little more myself to.
If i did that i wouldn't have wasted anyone time lol.
Character customization is good, but each class feels like having a template which you can't really get out of it. You are better off thinking this game like vindictus.
Each class is actually a person which you customize and you don't get to make one from scratch.
They are generic tough and cover a huge range of possibilities, but you might need to pick a class based on how you want to look.
I wonder if they will introduce a giant or fat woman?
That is the feeling I got but couldn't put my finger on it until now.
Is that gamebreaking? of course not ...but....kinda disappointed.
