Sandbox or mmorpg

I am looking for new games to fill the void we call sparetime..
But every game i look on today says its a MMoprg or sandbox...or both..and then it realy isent cuz it was only to lure me in and waste time.
Im sick of it...today even Tetris is a mmoprg sandbox game....were is the line that says STOP !

And all these "indie" games on steam..i hat ethat word indie...did indians come up with games or did they make the game ?
What can the cowboys then make for games ?  Sandbox Mmorpg ?

Now its out of my mind and printed in here..whats ur opinion on todays shitty games ?

    In my opinion today's games have reached "peak shit".

    I can't say I agree. There's new games coming out all the time and they carry on the tradition. So there's an equal reaction, so to speak.

    I still find games that I can get lost in for hours at a time.  I remember where I came from with dial-up modems and trips to the store to pick-up cd's.  Now I can review and D/L all sorts of games with cloud storage so I can pick-up playing on several devices.  As to enjoyment each person has to find that for themselves.

    It is also great with the download part and different play consoles..no hard feelings there...its just this"shit peak door" has to be closed again...we need to put all these bad game creators..aka the indians back in the pandora box were they came from !!

    ...they make a game..draw some 9 yo cartoonish pictures of characters and put silly sound in it and make the screen blink...no talent all..and look at steam..i cant breath anymore from shitty games that spawns there every day..i cant even find 1 decent game in there cuz if there was a decent game on steam then its drowned in "shit peak games"

    There is 2 games current in beta or dev. that i wanna play and its Lost ark and Black dessert...so in the meanwhile i wanna fill the void...but with that people ??..no wonder steam has a 14 H return policy for games they know is shit

    Don't buy games based on hype, do research.

    There are really good games out there, but most ppl jump on the hype train and buy coded mess.

    We continue to lower the bar of what is expected from a company to "launch" or heck, now we even pay hundreds (thousands) of dollars to games that do not exist.

    Criticize games and the diehards cry and point at the "troll" while loudly proclaiming that you cannot tell them how to spend their money.

    Well, they are right.  Folks can spend their money however they want, but this is what has brought us here...

    Well, they are right.  Folks can spend their money however they want, but this is what has brought us here...

    While I agree that there are plenty of gamers who pay for this "shit", that does not mean that all gamers are like that.
    Many gamers who pay do in fact enjoy what they are getting.

    The real issue is that there are a boatload of gamers who haven't paid and are looking for a better gaming experience. But they are not being satisfied. And as time passes and gamers who used to enjoy it turn around and aren't happy anymore, the situation grows worse. And still we are locked into what this body of gamers don't want (anymore in some cases).

    So we simple must STOP donating to these Indians..please all stop the crowdfunding donations..we need to raise the bar again. I cant stand to open steam anymore cuz i vomit the next time i see a Indiana game

    Again, it the consumer's fault for lowering the bar.  It's a shame that they have changed the market so dramatically over the past decade where they will accept shit on a plate AND thank the developer for the privilege of holding the plate.

    Look dude, indie = Independent, it has nothing to do with Indians, not at all.  

    Also, no, do not stop crowdfunding, stop crowdfunding crap, and as someone pointed out; DO research and only fund games that look like they may be worth something.

    I swear, people want to blame everyone else for their own ignorance, take some responsibility for your actions and figure stuff out for yourself.  Before you get started, I am not speaking to your English, not at all just your statements involving 'bad games' and 'Indians'.

    If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

    Part of me sees the younger generation gamers as bad consumers who don't verify that games are good enough for them to buy but are also getting much needed attention when their lazy purchase can be complained about endlessly on forums.

    Today games are great!

    I just found a good puzzler ... you guess it .. INDIE game .. called The Room 3 on the iOS. I am enjoying that very much.

    Diablo 3 PTR just came out with new stuff .. so more fun gaming.

    And FO4 is out. New CoD is out. New Tomb Raider is out. There are stuff to be checked out.

    Stop. "Indians" refers to people from India (or Native Americans, if you want to be politically incorrect). Indie means Independent. Saying, "they are indians who feeds on bad game creations" means absolutely nothing... unless you're being racist towards Indians.

    Secondly, people won't stop crowdfunding indie games because you said so. Innovation is born in the indie arena. Unfortunately, with it being a wide open market, that also comes with a lot of crap games. Lucky for you, there are things like Steam Greenlight to slow the entry and various search filters to find what you're looking for. Learn to use them.

    In short, the industry is not required to and will never make ONLY the games that you like. That's a good thing. Grow up.

    Sorry, but all of us need to come to the realization of numbers. We are simply out numbered. There are hundred thousands of us against millions of them. And their numbers grow every time they are old enough to get a credit card. Our numbers are static and are even dropping as we getting into our 40s+.

    Game companies only care about the millions that leave their games within 2 weeks. Not those of us that stay. Which is stupid because 98% of MMORPG companies would kill to have a few hundred thousand dedicated player subscriptions.

    These big companies have to consider the "mass market" because they intend to sell them more and more games. They simply aren't interested in the longevity of an individual game.

    Consider this. Microsoft bought Minecraft for $2.5 billion. Why? Are the programmers at MS incapable of creating their own Minecraft? Would they not be able to bury Minecraft with marketing hype for their own title?

    They didn't buy the game. They didn't even buy the name. They bought the audience. Once they own the audience, they can sell them more of their own crap, which is infinitely more valuable than $2.5 billion.

    I'm not justifying the mindset, just saying that they are looking for massive profit spikes rather than community and long term sustainability of a single title.

    Personally, if my game secures a community of 100k longterm fans, and they're spending enough to keep the lights on, I'll be thrilled for the rest of my days. But I'm technically indie. The game is my passion, not the profit.

    I wish someone would come along and steer us back into the right direction or at least build us a home.

    Archeage started has a sandbox but was transformed into just another WoWish clone over the course of its development. Add to that poor design decisions and lack of foresight about what would happen at release when players would flood the servers, and you got a recipe for disaster.
    So...the last "acceptable" sandbox published was EVE?

    Twelve years?

    Getting a game today is like buying a used car, You really have to do the research otherwise if you just go for the price then you will get something that doesn't last very long. Like someone said, there are really good games out there but you have to do the research and all games that are good still isn't for everyone.

    I Think Guild wars 2 is a great game but alot of people hate it, Take mmorpg.com list of all games and start looking through them and I am sure you will find some game you like.

    A sandbox tip for all you guys out there is 7 days to die. I have more then 1000hours in this game and I really enjoy it but it's not a mmo. Find some friends to play it with start your own server or join an excisting one your choice. you can check the game out on (it's in swedish)

    ArcheAge was never meant to be a sandbox(ie. like EVE or UO), people just filled the blanks with their wishful thinking.

    The point is, there is not much reason to make a sandbox game.

    Sandbox concept is strange to people and it lacks commonly appealing features - progression, story, gear dependency, etc. Complexity is great for intelectual amusement but that isn't what our consumption based society craves after for entertainment - ie. look at movies.

    Even EVE isn't expanding its sandbox base of the game and just adds trinkets and shinies for past 5 years.

    There is no such thing as sandpark.

    It was invented to differentiate products people like from products of the same group they would otherwise treat with negative connotation.

    Same goes for P2W - you have 2 f2p games, this is one f2p I do not mind to play, but THAT ONE is P2W!
