The much-anticipated TERA update called "Knockout" is heading into the game on December 8th. Knockout is anchored by the arrival of the new Brawler, a tank-DPS hybrid that packs a wicked punch. In addition, two new dungeons will arrive, Kalivan's Dreadnaught and Forsaken Island.

Wonder why they are pushing more and more towards gender-locked new classes...Guess its just easier to do.

Pretty much. Far less costs on animations when you don't need to deal with different genders/races.

And two simplistic, trivial "dungeons" as an excuse for more mindless farming. Pitty how much this game has sunken ...

Not to mention it was explained why. Race/Gender is being picked by popularity. I don't think it was ever stated how many new classes they have planned. But to my knowledge it is going to continue to be one gender/race at a time.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

My guess would be that it's more a factor of getting new classes into player hands more rapidly than anything else.

It's not a bad game but new classes is pretty much the only reason I would come back.

I'm not a fan of gender lock personally. I don't play females in games because it breaks my immersion personally. I don't typically like my options being picked for me. I am not saying it is bad to have a female only class, but it is definitely not a preference of mine. More power to you if it is for you, but kinda upsetting that Tera has gone the cheaper route due to financial issues.

Well partially, I guess. A lot of it has to do with the player base and their overwhelming propensity to play dress up with female avatars and buy costumes for them in the store. Another female only class means more sales in the cash shop. I mean, have you actually played TERA and seen what it's like in game? Most of the players you run across play a female character, with the Elin being the master race. It can get downright creepy in there. I sometimes feel like I need to take a shower after playing.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

I know for a fact if Tera released 3 male only classes in a row you would be one of the first to complain.

There should be a choice for both male and female.  Some of us prefer to play males because of immersion reasons.  For the same reason I wouldn't want male only classes for those that play female characters only.

I'm a female and I find it annoying that the classes that have been introduced post launch are all female only. YES it IS a bad thing because people who don't want to play a female but want to try the new classes are SOL. But more importantly it goes against the idea that everyone can be everything, which is something that made TERA standout in a sea of Korean MMOs with gender locked classes. If the are going to keep gender locking all the new classes then I really hope that the next class is Male only, preferably Popori and/or Baraka. (I hope all this makes sense, I am sick as a dog and taking quite a few meds to combat it.)

The problem is that tera came out mostly female char. And never went back added the male part of the other 2 class in the pass. Animation set it is hard work but should not be a problem for tera to add them overtime.

Female classes sell most cosmetics. Just saying.

i dont care about gender locks. For me its more about how fun the class is to play with. You guys have some complexes and are absolute in the minority with such problems- so noone cares. Most males pick female chars anyway if they can chose. Who wants to stare at a mens butt all time as man? I dont really care- i pick randomly in each mmo. If the class was race restriticted you guys would complain because you cant make a elin brawler. Always the same. Thats why i neve rliked GW2 because it promoted this disgusting barby dress world. It was all about how your char looks, everything ells was in background.

Because there would be mass shaming if it were a male only class twice in a row. Think of that? I for one have never played a female character in video games ever and while I'm not bothered with the concept of female only classes, it bothers me when there are no male only classes to even it out. Gender locked classes in general is a stupid thing imo. I like the class that is brawler but I'm not going to make a female character just to play it, I just don't want to and know I won't like running around and fighting battles in some tight woman's lingerie that Tera wants you to wear.

You have a point, anyway i don't play Tera anymore because they remove all the fun stuff (dungeons and expecially blast from the past). They introduces so much timesink and drag content that everytime i log in i feel bored in 5 minutes and i log out. Yes, GW2 and Tera are now just cosmetic wagons and it working pretty well in thsi departement. I have nothing against cosmetic items, i like them too, you can customize your avatar pretty well and be original, but when is the only content they add and the fun content is removed then is time to move on. Is because i like more sandbox open world games then themeparks.

I dont get the whole gender locked issue.... I pick a class by how much fun it is to play. I don't care if it has rabbet ears or a really nice butt but of course I like a nice butt with nice curves.... it's just a plus to go along with the game play....... Just sayin!!

It's fantasy, but my fantasy is not to be a female. Not everyone think the same but alot do, thats ends up keeping some playing for very long time.

...Because I personally REFUSE to play against my gender. I'm a male who prefers to play as a male character... Most everyone chooses female characters for the age-old excuse of sex apeal; "May as well have a butt to stare at the whole time"... which is stupid in itself. I dropped TERA awhile ago for this lame reason. Either go all-in, or go home. Don't half-ass it. EDIT: And judging from the comments, my point is pretty much proven.
