IP banning areas that are usually part of NA or EU servers is not a trend I want to see develop.
Part of me hopes everyone who actually gets to play has a good time, but at the same time I find the decision to basically IP block the southern hemisphere incredibly bad form and I sincerely hope there is such a savage backlash against it that no other company is stupid enough to try that shit again.
Like what, not getting their money? I'm sure they've calculated how much of a loss it would be. Perhaps BDO is latency sensitive and maybe SA is getting BDO published for their region in the future. I remember being as miffed when I moved to europe and found that I could no longer play Nexon's DFO, but honestly, even if I could play there's no way I could pvp or group with anyone in NA at that time. Maybe this company doesn't want to see a bunch of warping laggers in pvp?
imo, the only way BDO will do better than BnS is if it offers a trials. Coming out a b2p games from someone that no one really knows next to nothing about will be a hard sell, especially when you already have other established b2p games like ESO and GW2's expansion. Only way people will know if its any good is if they do research which consumers rarely do in this day and age. Not to mention gender locking is very off-putting for a lot of people.
This poll just further proves how different and segregated the market is when it comes to tastes. Black Desert made few mistakes already. First, prefering Russia over North America...not a good way to build a fan base. Going B2P will also prevent a huge chunk of players being sucked into the game. By the time it goes F2P a lot more will come as its competition.
Blade & Soul is the prefered one since obviouslly will cost you nothing to enjoy it. Its cons is how its old, outdated been available to other markets. So, players have studied it and can easly do so to know exactly what to do from launch.
Both will obviouslly be P2W in one way or another as 99% of available MMO's out there. Players can always P2W they just have to google "buy x"

Idk, the only thing I want to do is PvP, and only one of those games has equalized pvp.
I choose Black haven't tested but have Blade it's has a standard mmo game play being a few years old which I've done to death. BDO has some features that are cutting edge which interests me more. I'll probably play both
BDO or B&S, can't say either one looks interesting enough that i'd be willing to buy into them, if i was at all tempted to try them, then i'd probably opt for Archeage instead, at least it has the option to play by sub even if the cash shop is still a significant part of the game, personally i don't think either game will do all that well in the west, B&S doesnt have varied enough classes to make it interesting, not to mention its a fairly old game anyway, GW2 has far more to offer in that sense, than either game. The more i see of either game, the more i question the reasoning behind trying to market them in the west anyway, there is a reason after all, why games like Lineage etc failed outside of their home markets, i think we are about to see a repeat performance.
Well, it's not even close to a good population sample for actual "real life" statistics, but it's funny to see that after just over 100 votes (102 when I write this), the BDO VS B&S poll is actually even (for simplicity's sake), 50/50! Talk about a hot debate
i am not sure if my 3y old Pc can handle BDO. my cpu is much older though (AMD)
Ditto.
I need to replace all my household computers. I can build a PC but I'm back to worrying how I will pay medical bills. My health keeps slipping every time I start a building project. I had a partner but he went back to the Ukraine to get caught up in real life war.
I'm going to play both when they come out, I have already tried out BNS in the TW server a bit and it was really fun the only issue is with a high ping the game could be extremely irritating, due to lag. Black Desert seems really neat, especially if it is B2P which will weed out the obnoxious kids who join game to game and have fun "trolling chat"
BNS is not pay to win. please play the game if you havent yet lol. it is similar to Guild wars 2 system where you can buy premium items/costumes with only playing the game.
its the only mmo i know that offers very well balanced 1 vs 1 arena ranked system. and its a very good heavy PVP game. you dont use tab to target enemies but use ur mouse so its like Tera. it even has Esports and tournaments and the game is getting into beta and its been great fun.
if BNS got released earlier to NA and EU will be massive hit lol.
BDO is also great but it lacks so much contents but im sure in few years time it will have dungeons and stuff. so we just got to wait and see
I played Blade and Soul for a couple hours in a recent beta test and that was enough for me to know I won't be playing it. The more I read and see of Black Desert the less interested in it I am. So, neither I guess.

I would suggest actually playing Black Desert too before you brush it off. At least give it the same chance.
There's a few people with agendas on this board doing what they can to bash the game. Don't let that sway you until you've had the chance to try it for yourself.
Both games have very litte interest in them from gamers outside of hardcore mmo players.
Here is the problem with that, NCsoft are known to be brutal to games that don't perfom well enough. First p2w and then closure, as such I'll be pushing more towards BD.
As a plus BD doesn't have a feminist in charge of it ruining the game to fit her ideals of what an mmo based at men should be.
Somehow I doubt B&S has an actual "feminist" in charge of running the game... otherwise I think the outfits would be a lot more modest for the female classes.

BnS is def P2W!
Buy customes sell it in the marketplace, buy keys to have the sword you want for the upgrade, buy pots.
You can say ohh but thats pay 2 convience but effecting gameplay even if its slight its p2w in my book. What for others can be weeks for the whale it will be a few hours

[edit] Only arena (1v1) isnt p2w
All mmorpgs are P2W when it comes to PVE. I don't see you point. even games like guild wars 2 you can spent up to 600$ which i did then get the best legendary weapon and now you kill mobs easy and is quite poweful on world vs world. but a free to play player can do the same with roughly few hundred hours or something
its called Pay to not grind. and open world pvp is all about levels and gear, where lv50 can 1 shot lv1. This almost happened to any mmos out there so your argument is invalid.
BTW. Costumes are character bound and the Premium costumes cannot be traded at all. not even your own characters. keys you can craft them once you obtain the key making profession and everything can be opened quite easily. All stronger weapons are untradeable including the weapons you upgraded
also there is 3 vs 3 Tag Team match and its not P2W either. its not only exclusive to 1 vs 1 which you are wrong

dis is some hiliarous shiet. Played for a hour or two and that's enough to decide. If i had this kind of testing mentality i'd never get into any mmorpg.

Tag is kinda 1v1 imo. And yeh ofc that isnt p2w. But forgot all about it cause I dont like, I dont wanna depend on others then my own skill

Long term/big open world pvp: BDO
some 1v1 fun: BNS
