During a recent preview event, we had the opportunity to both preview the new Brawler class coming with next month's TERA update, Knockout, and a chance to talk to Patrick Sun and the TERA team from En Masse about the update and what it means for the game.

So gender-locking is perfectly fine if it has lore connected to it? Okay....

"Animations have to be tailored for different genders and races that would take more time to deliver to an ever-increasingly hungry audience that wants new experiences, well, now." The obvious answer. They don't have the resources, so they threw together a half-assed gender-locked version of a class just so they had something new to add. While not inherently bad, it gives off a vibe that they really aren't looking to put in much effort to add content, just gonna try to cruise and hope their existing playerbase doesn't die from starvation as they toss out crumbs every now and then. But whatever, it is what it is.

Which is probably their same excuse for the previous 2 gender-locked classes they released. Lore my butt. Just lazy.

Thinking resource management equals finding new ways to maximize profits by finding more things to take out.

I find genderlocking incredible annoying, both gunner & brawler class looks extremely interesting to me - but... i cant see myself playing a female character.. Unfortunately ( for me ).

Well, they would have to come up with an alternative to the boob bounce animation at the end of combat if they tried to unlock the character. As far as heavy armor, I am thinking that the string bikini must be very heavy armor indeed.

You should try it- you might like it. Choice of gender in MMOs basically comes down to what kind of ass you feel like looking at for months on end.

What did I just watch? It was bad... really bad.

This game used to be decent few years ago. I do not see why anyone would still play this anymore unless you are 12-14 year old male and want to see female body parts...

TERA is my favorite "what if" game. It really could have been something special. The first "raid" Manya's Core was difficult, fun, and had great rewards. The game now has the option to "pay-to-gear" and hasn't (from what I hear) had a dungeon since launch that can compare to MC. The combat is the ONLY thing the game has going for it. The story is so laughable there isn't a single person who can actually explain what is really going on. All of the quests/dailies are just as generic as any random game. The gender locked classes are a joke. They choose the female version of races to give new classes to because that's where all of their money comes from (cash shop costumes).

I hate what you've become TERA.

Someone said it best, it's just lazy with the gender lock. It's not a new race if it was then be more work to add a male side part.
  • AeanderAeander Member LegendaryPosts: 8,062
Gender-locked? I'll keep my money, thank you. For all the flak Guild Wars 2 gets, at least it doesn't insult your intelligence with race & gender locked classes.
  • freegamesfreegames Member UncommonPosts: 240
It saves them more than half the time for a single class also im looking at the armor and thinking to myself what armor?

So it has boobs, it punches stuff, and makes knockouts, sound like Ronda Rousy.

I am not a fan of it myself but it fits this game, go watch their latest swim suit trailer featuring all male races.

I can't lie. This is one of the funniest comment I've read this month so far. Don't know why but the picture of mini-me makes it even funnier.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Not gonna act like I play this game alot, but I am completely turned off by Gender locking. I've wanted to play this game for so long, but every class I want to really play is gender locked. This is nothing more than a way to get weaboos to spend cash on whore costumes for their waifus... fucking lame.

So just deleted it from my pc. It is not even worth keeping. Honestly, if all you are wanting to do is create female characters for males to jerk off too, go ahead and just erase all the male characters. I'm sure that would help with production cost, or whatever other bullshit excuse you used to justify this shit.

P.S. Sure seems like you put in the money to make sure those boob mechanics are working just right.

Completely agree. I really wanted to love this game.
