My first mmo was Runescape. Then I played WoW. I got into healing in WoW, and that became my favorite thing to do in an mmo. After WoW changed too much for my tastes, and I wasn't willing to pay for the expansions anymore, I played quite a few different mmo's and stuck with Tera for a decent amount of time, but not long enough to get to max level. Then I just stopped playing mmo's altogether for a while. I liked Tera, and I was even ok with the quirky healing style, but the problem I had with it was that there wasn't enough group content. There was like a 10 level span with absolutely no dungeons I could queue up for. That killed it for me.
But I'm starting to miss healing, and want to find a new mmo. The problem is that most reviews seem to be geared toward people who play as dps, so it's difficult to figure out which mmo's are fun to play as a healer.
Just one caveat, if you will indulge me- I want to be able to level up pretty much exclusively by running dungeons, so that has to be something that is common in the game. Unless, of course, the quests are actually fun and entertaining, rather than kill 10 rats type quests.
Old games are fine, but if you suggest an old game, you can't just say "it's a classic, you whipper snapper!" you have to actually tell me about the healing in the game.

Dungeons are easy to queue for as well if you want to level through those (the first one starts at level 10 and from there on you can easily keep doing them until 65).

Too bad you jumped on the Wow bandwagon,FFXI was 100% full on healing at all times.Full grouping game,no xp for questing,no hand holding of any kind.It actually made it fun and enjoyable to learn things because they were not gift wrapped for you,as you had to discover everything.
I think or hopefully Pantheon or perhaps Elyria might be grouping games, possibly 1 or 2 more will come about in the next 1-2 years. The genre seriously needs it,we definitely do not need anymore Wow/EQ2 clones.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

If Tera was your favourite because of the gamestyle, maybe you could check Neverwinter. Cleric is fun, and you can level up exclusively by running dungeons.
So my Pally only made it until the mid-twenties or so before I decided there was very little point in continuing.
Edit: In the spirit of fairness, they're supposed to have resolved that mess by now, and the game can be pretty fun as a whole.

Edit: just read the Wikipedia page... interesting stuff. I might have to check that one out.

Neverwinter is an action-y, mouse-target game with only a few skills available at once (in mind of controllers and console people). Because of that action-y gamestyle, it doesn't have a "full" healer - if someone is dumb and/or careless about dodging, you won't be able to save him It's more about AoE healing, buff/debuff, and some damage.

FF14 also has some good healer mechanics, just not as good as ff11 imo. In ff11 positioning is important, controlling your hate generating from casting and keeping up casts in a system that does not rely on global cooldown timers for easy mode.
