Japan's population is dropping by about 300,000 a year.

Fastest aging population in the world.

Reason:

low birth rate
almost no immigration, they let in 7 people last year...you read that right...7

    That won't last long. There is a problem if you don't have a sufficient workforce for dealing with an economiy. What they will find is a lack of healthcare workers spurring on imigration. Costs of living would rise too rapidly if they didn't. Also with the lack of human resources, most workers would be allocated to necessities like agriculture and energy production through the price system. These particular fields make it easier to perform that particular task of generating babies. Since workers tend to live close to family and work less hours. With a shift in production needs, it will also allow people who failed in other careers to live a successful life. Once again spurring on baby generation.
