Proving that ArenaNet does read players' posts on various sites and social media platforms, Colin Johanson has taken to a Reddit thread bemoaning legendary effects for Guild Wars 2 Engineers and announced that this was something the team would like to address in the future but that the focus right now is on "our major WvW overhaul", something that has apparently been in the works…

Could care less about PVE.
Just bring castle sieges back into GW2 and make it fun again.
I love standing on the walls with my ranger and spam arrows against 40+ enemies or jump into them alone on my necro or thief and take as many with me before I die.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
It's about they sake things up. Hopefully they can find a way to add meaning to the entire thing. The last time I played it was circle Zerging undefended keeps while avoiding fights, pvedoor to the extreme.
2. Original gw2 pvp strategy relied on their graphic system not working. They system couldn't render all the players fast enough so they employed portal bombs. You'd be on a keep door when suddenly a portal appeared at your feet, followed by death & minute or two later all the enemies render. They've fixed this one to a certain extent using a suggestion I provided.
3. The main strategy of pvp exploits the 5 person limit for AOE damage. STACK STACK STACK. Thats the strategy. Spam AOE ! Will only hit 5 people at a time.
4. Why can people on the ground AOE the entire top of the wall beyond what they can see with their targetting yet as a defender I'm forced to stand in the open on the wall edge to fire down & get insta deaded in the process.
5. Most of the hardcore pvp guilds have left the game for something else. Thats about it. With little to no incentive & improvements since release its a huge turnoff.
6. It gets really fucking boring fighting the same servers all the time. The tiers don't change much unless one hardcore guild decides to transfer to a lower tier. That lower tier then rises up & the stagnation continues again. Its boring. I really preferred it when they changed all the time instead of keeping them the same.
7. WVW is a karma train. Why do people play ? Some would say fun but the majority of people play games to benefit themselves & their character. They want their character to get stronger. You benefit by karma training around the map & not actually pvp'n. I was in tier 1 on jade quarry would routinely log in and get yelled at for flipping a camp or keep because it messed up the current karma train rotation the guilds worked out on different servers.
8. I suggested this awhile back on the offical forums. Make the WVW maps similar to that of original alterac valley in WOW. You have a time limit & objective. Upon map completion everyone gets rewarded, the winners obviously more. Make it that supplies are limited they don't replenish. Capturing a keep is way harder then current situations. Have a time limit. Remove organization by server & make it like heart of the mists, but allow join as a group for organized guilds.
Unfortunately it also led to everything that ruined WvW. If you can't beat the best commanders, and all of them are on one server (almost all of them, the greatest commander of all time moved from EU servers to JQ to compete against the blackgate commanders), it gets frustrating. Players started hacking, I remember my first time catching an entire 40+ guild group waiting for a mesmer to go under the walls of a keep and let them in. That guild became well known for it by the second WvW Tourney. Other players started spying, you would constantly see low level alts in spawn that did not move. My guild started assigning players to watch for the hackers at every keep, and ran untagged to avoid the server spies. The next step came, unfortunately, which was win trading. Each week they would alternate, one server giving the other all their keeps and then jointly defending them. That was enough for me, I didn't stick around to see what other awful things that terrible community would come up with rather than trying to get better at the game.
I don't think ANet has it in them to fix WvW. They saw all this happening, I saw ANet tags both on opposing servers and on my own. They witnessed the hacking, spying, and win trading first hand. What did they do? Nothing. Much later they did actually publicly ban one hacker and made a huge huge deal out of it, but it was just one ban. I don't think ANet has the man power to moderate what became of WvW. How do you deal with players having multiple accounts to cheat? Entire guilds trying to cheat? Entire servers? It is too much, and it is too bad, as WvW could have been really special. The awful community turned it from the most competitive large scale PvP option into the joke it is now.
That said, I am hopeful. If they had the talent to make something with so much potential, maybe they have the ability to fix the problems that have arisen with it. I do not know how you fix a community that is determined to undermine any chance at competitive play, though.
Edit: Also want to agree with the person above that WvW before the culling fix was in fact terrible and ridiculous, but at least they fixed that.
GW2 should instead try to focus more on it's own group dynamics, more combos, make positioning matter even more, make terrain matter (like higher ground, tricking enemies to get into mud to slow them down and similar).
The WvW update is really needed, WvW can be a lot better. The expansion were more important though, I needed those masteries to get some new focus.
But GW2 certainly needs to get further away from Wow, not closer. No game can compete with Wow when it is playing Wows game. And honestly had GW 3.1 million active players (or so was said here a week ago and it looked official), trying to compete with Wow of the same players have been done before, like SWGs NGE and it would be the same resault here if they tried implement trinity and Wow styled raiding.
The lack of trinity hurts this game so so much in my eyes.
Cashshop rng lockboxes for some the best skins, Sad thing is the sheep think this is perfectly acceptable.
No thank you I'll play another mmo that isn't 90% focused on the cash shop.
I'd go back to GW2 and wouldn't leave again for at least 5 years if they just added dedicated healers.

Druid is basically a dedicated healer now.

Druid class Elite says "hello"
I seriously doubt they will add a hard trinity and hope they never do. But I would love to see a much larger WvW world and not the Desert Borderlands we just got.
Yeah is better to keep the actual mindless all zerker build to do run by skiping mobs trough the dungeons and then DPS race on the boss, very funny gameplay.

they have dedicated healers now, druid and revanant are amazing healers with the right spec
The map designs of GW2 caters to the zerg, bottlenecks and not enough room to escape it. When you do want to fight them you are hindered by target caps.
DAoC's RvR did it best!

When I was following my favorite commander, it was common to go all night without wiping. Another good commander I followed, even when JQ and TC were win trading, was able to fight off the combined zergs of both servers working together with about 40 players (the rest of the players in the map were spies and people that had given up dealing with the cheating). With odds of roughly 160 to 40 and only the enemy having siege weaponry, he held the keep and didn't wipe once, fully wiping the other servers zergs multiple times in the process.
Found a video of that commander doing it again during the win trading, not the time I was referencing but still shows him beating two full servers at once with a half server team.

Actually I hear myself in that video, don't see my character in the chaos, though.
The thinking that the smaller zerg can't win is what led JQ and TC to cheating. Every time they got wiped, they told themselves that BG just had more players. Refusing to try and improve led to them deciding to ruin WvW. It led them to hacking and going under walls, to filling up BG queues with server spies, to them DDoSing the server TeamSpeak, and to forming an alliance to win trade all because they were unwilling to admit that their commanders were not up to snuff. You would think they would have realized it after getting their asses destroyed while doing a dedicated 2v1, but they were able to win by one server giving the other all of their keeps and towers. Holding your own keep does not win you matches by itself, even if you win every combat engagement. These hundreds of players decided to cheat rather than get better commanders. In doing so, they ruined WvW. What point is there in a commander improving, if they know there are entire servers of players willing to cheat to beat them?
