Seems like Mark Hamill really likes working with Chris Roberts. And surprising that this gameplay trailer is an actual gameplay trailer unlike some games that say gameplay trailer and shows cut scene.

Sure looked more like a movie than actual game play. Watched it 4 times and it just doesn't look like a game but a movie. I been watching all the streamers every chance I get and not one of them had anything that looked like this! Why?

I like the trailer and have seen even more spectacular scenes in actual gameplay and watching streamers. Especially the scenes where people on foot fight starships. What the trailer does not show and what you as an Alpha tester have to expect for a while is the occasional crash and intermittent drop in framerate. But the team keeps fixing bugs and keeps the .backers updated.

Because its a trailer, not a pure gameplay video, seems like you take every chance to bash SC. Are you by any chance DS incognito?  Srsly dude, if you cant recognize gameplay footage you have the wrong hobby.

119 second video with about 100 seconds of actual video and maybe 50 seconds of gameplay and 50 seconds of cut scenes.

    Nice try though I guess.

People can watch the streams and see what its all about and from those right now it isnt about much of anything, but shaky cameras, crashes and bugs. Obviously to be expected from a 'early early' alpha stage but the smoke blowing is getting crazy.

Like I said a few weeks ago its all damage control. But at least they released SOMETHING, it isnt much but its better than what was around before.

I have watched the video again and do not see 85 seconds of cut scenes. I see a few seconds of getting into and out of chairs (but thats no cutscene, thats movement animation like in many games) or through air locks, buts thats maybe 10 seconds. Not a single cut scenes in the whole trailer, only gameplay scenes with switched off GUI so they look cooler or different camera angles, e.g. from the outside  (which every player can do in Alpha 2.0).

Can you please give time-stamps for what you consider cut-scenes ?

    @rodarin
So ... no time stamps ....just your statement below and unwilling to back it up with facts ....... i will consider it a personal opinion. I have a different opinion.

Something about the space station at the 14 second mark just looks off, like its just a picture and not actual footage. Maybe its just cause there is nothing else moving in the scene but it sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

Just a normal station look on approach vector - as you said, nothing else is moving which is a contrast to most of the rest of the video.

Try doing a high speed pass along the z axis through the station rings without crashing  .. its fun.

If you cant tell a cut scene from gameplay (where someone is controlling the object of the frame) then I cant help you. Anyone with a brain can tell the difference.

I have not seen a single ship going through space in any streams I have seen yet there are a few of them in this video.

Its just a bunch of 1-3 second clips hashed together to make it look exciting. Typical hype video.

In this day and age with everyone that owns anything streaming, these things fall flat. Its not just the games like this but every game trailer is a crock of shit. Theyre all meant to make the game look better than it is. Which like I said in this day and age isnt possible.

It is what it is, critics will see it for what it is and fanboys will make it out to be something it isnt. Just like every other game. I am sure it will be propped up as exhibit A in the 'see we all said they were making something' argument. But it looks to me thats its just another nice timing video in answer to people who were saying all their other videos were just rehashed old ones. At least this one does have new stuff in it.

    That's nice.

Still not paying them anything until a game in coherent form exists.

Really? you did not really see how oddly they were strafing and turning and how they were not moving like a video character would in least distance method? if it were movie they would have smooth strafing and turning and they would move in a very orderly manner. Camera movement would not be so obviously explicit to show the details.

Take your time, they have more than enough fund to complete and publish the game, there is no need for anyone to purchase ships on their site. buy the game when it comes out if you wish.

This is whats supposed blow our socks off? The graphics look nice, but that's pretty much the only thing its got going for it. I mean just look at the way the character models move... this is what we've been waiting for? It looks mediocre at best. "Star Citizen the game you were promised is not the game we're going to deliver." That should be their slogan. At least then they would be honest.

Looked laggy and jerky. And that's from what's probably the best footage available from their hottest test systems. Still, better than nothing.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

It does use in game footage but that footage was choreographed.  All those shots like seeing the ship from the outside and other things are all possible in 2.0

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Thats footage you can get yourself with a decent rig back home and  Alpha 2.0 access. Plenty of such scenes on Youtube in fan made videos.  That is not footage from internal high end CIG test systems.

W.r.t. to "laggy and jerky" ... yes, it can be laggy and jerky .... it varies a lot from fluid to laggy. Lots of optimization still to be done, i guess.

terrible trailer that seems to focus the viewer on jumping off things and free falling, like its anything new today. Get a group of people together and record some good game time and remove the obligatory fancy music overlay, I know he liked and wanted to make movies in his day ( probably still does ) but this is not a feature film.

Clarification from CIG w.r.t. the trailer (--> Alpha 2.0 is not yet on live server, still on PTU server with 110.000 testers)

Do you know for a fact that the footage is not from an internal high end test system?   And if it really isn't, someone should talk to the marketing head about their conceptual failure.  You put out your very best footage, note that it's from an internal test system, and say how it is what you are aiming for, for everyone.

Unless they really can't do better than what they put out so far...

Then you should say that to every game, film, tv trailer released. If you want gameplay go look for it, this is a trailer the whole point is it's meant to be fancy, not the most fancy I will admit, but hey it's a work in progress.

Come one guys are we really trying to find fault with how a alpha trailer looks? No one has comments about the current mechanics or what they have planned?

Overall looks alright, will be looking forward to see what comes next. Still not going to spend anything though
