Over the past few years, 4K (ultra HD, 3840 x 2160 pixels) TVs have become more and more common in the average home. As the new technology becomes more and more affordable, it too becomes widespread. People have thus become more used to higher quality, clear sound, and a better overall viewing experience. The leap forward in TV technology makes older technology (such as CRT television) seem archaic.

Looking at a 4k lcd versus a 4k oled there is not that much difference.  I think the article is a bit biased.

Unless you have a 60+ inch monitor you probably won't even notice the difference between a 1080p and a 4k one and you have to be close to the screen to notice it.

The only huge difference is between the old analog tube TV's and the 1080p ones, the differences between all the other forms of tv are all minor.

I just got rid of my modern version of the plasma TV and I had burn in issues with it right around the one year mark. Technical previewers are already commenting on not only burn in issues with OLED, but the limited lifespan of the blue light phosphors of the individual pixels being in the 10,000 hour range. I'm not going back to that, no matter how black it is.

My next TV will be Samsung's SUHD with nano crystal technology.  It seems to be the best compromise in black levels, color gamut, contrast, sharpness, cost and no picture burn in issues.

I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't like the new HD TV's. I was in best buy and they had some huge TV that was high defnition and the movie looked like video tape.

Must have been the movie they were showing on it. To me they are a step up, but ok for current prices not for what they were at the start. Only problem I have is cable. Right now basic with the internet. Though I am annoyed at trying to figure out who's to blame for the sometime shitty picture I get with these cable-only channels, cable company or the original content maker. Also they need to get the OLED lifetimes up to respectable level. Like to keep a set for atleast 5 - 10 years before having to have to get a new one.

Since the backlight was considered maybe the most expensive part of the TV,does that mean these will be a lot cheaper? :P

It is all aimed at a the truest black, just get a real black screen "picture off to see it" and turn off the lights lmao.I am guessing these new OLED TV's are going to be way over priced or sold on technology alone but the overall quality of the TV is low.

Yes Sovrath sometimes they can look real bad, that is what separates quality from crap.Stores like Best buy simply work on profit, the better deal they get,the better you get. What's worse about Best Buy is i always find a better price than theirs and from smaller places that have less buying power,so it really tells you how cheap they get products and how over priced they are.

Some have two back lights, some have anti glare anti blue light etc etc, faster refresh, blacker screens and even scaling.Scaling could actually be a gimmick to make a HD tv look way better and encourage you to buy it.Then you have peripherals like HDMI connections and iforgot ...distance to which you are looking at the screen, sometimes getting closer will really show a difference in quality.

Ok i looked and yeah these are way over priced and this new CURVED TV phenomena is a joke/gimmick.
These businesses are looking for new ways to break into a new market,to separate themselves from competition,so they are trying to convince people in their minds these Curved TVS are good/better.

I imagine that it is easy to pull of the scam since 4K is so new compared to Plasma and LCD that they can simply show you a curved 4K and says it is much better than a LCD but in reality the CURVE has nothing to do with it.IMO curved is worse and also imo EASILY worse.

I've never seen any LCD screen bleed as much light as the one showing the black screen with the white line across it. Absolute fucking bollocks, doctored image.

I can see the difference between 1080p and 2K easy. However the difference between 2K and 4K is beyond me.

Oled technologys advantage is in energy consumption and that you can see easier if the sun shines on it. The background lightning can also be made better (but there is a different between "can be" and "is").

If Oled and Led cost the same the Oled is better, but not enough to warrant paying extra on a desktop. On a laptop the lower energy consumption is an advantage worth some bucks though.

4K really only get worth it on huge screens, like 40" and more. Most of us stay with 27" or at least 30" and then 2K is good enough.

And thank you for telling us this is sponsored content. :)

Wow this site is going the route of SPONSORED articles...IE Paid SHILL advertisements where reporters sell their self respect and integrity to peddle for advertising dollars. Time to move on from this site I think. I wasn't one who used ad blockers on this site because I didn't want you to lose revenue even if they were annoying. However this? Now your entire site's integrity comes into question for me. Oh well its been fun.

I get the feeling that some of you have never experienced an OLED TV and are slating it from having read wiki or some review somewhere. The tech has some kinks to work out before it's really worth buying but saying things like not being able to see a difference between an LED and OLED picture is just daft, they're like night and day.

Consumers believe whatever they are told. Heck i know someone who 'upgraded' from a Panasonic ZT60 plasma to a samsung LED 4k TV and is convinced the picture looks better on his new 4K just because it's the new thing when the reality is the ZT60 blows it out of the water.

Dolby Vision HDR is the future and my Samsung UN65JS9500 is equipped with it. This TV is the best, IMO. I've done my thorough research before pulling the trigger and I enjoy it every day and night for shows, movies, NBA games, and Xbox One, everything looks like delicious candy. As long as you aren't extremely off angle (who would be?) the blacks and colors are like OLED, and the image processing and other features are superior to current OLED TV's. The TV comes with a demo for HDR and it is simply maximum beauty that a TV can ever put out, IMO.

I would love to watch that on one of those new LG OLED TV's....

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

Swear to god,i have looked at hundreds of TVs and i can barely ever see the difference between 720 and 1080,and at times i don't look at the stats i just look at the tv and find some 720's are better.
Of course a lot depends on how the TV is setup ,again a store can set up crap TVs to make high end look way better to make the sales.
Also the picture shown on a tv matters a lot,i often see tons of ghosting when sports games are on the tvs, that is why you might want to check a TV quality with a high speed image.

Well a LOT matters on what type of image you like to see, what might be technically better does NOT make it better to look at.Perfect example is people argued for months over Plasma and LCD,each type had their preference,Plasma looked sort of pastel while LCD looked more like a tv lol.
Proof in point ,i see hundreds of threads saying how great a game looks, then i take and look and am like wtf, looks like crap like some noob artist /developer worked on it.

When 1080 first became popular,i had no bones at all in buying only a 720.I looked at several tv's and never once looked at the stats, then i made my decision on best 3 and i was surprised to see i picked 2/3 were 720 not the 1080.

The left TV has it's gamma and bright near max with Dynamic enabled.
You'll also notice the flash is heavily angled towards the left tv.

    Use photoshop plebs.

Now then nice title to your advertising. You've just alienated 80% of consumer electronic purchasers.

As seen in previous comments. Nobody and I mean nobody likes that saying it implies stereotyping.

    Aside from hiphop douchetards.

That is likely the faster speed.  For movies and TV I prefer watching at 60Hrz or whatever it is.  120 makes Lord of the Rings look like a documentary.  I turn off all of that stuff on any new TV.  For sports it is awesome!

I think on LG tvs its called true motion or something.   Garbage for film IMO.

How the hell is this site as popular as it is, given that it's just a cheap newsreel designed to make as much money as possible with as little investment as you can get away with in the media space?
