Here's the email that a backer received after requested his refund:

"While a substantive part of the promised gameplay is now available, we acknowledge that delivery of some game elements has been delayed due to expansion of Star Citizen’s scope."
Fascinating. I can't even...

Then, it turns out its illegal to marry your favorite farm animal....well then...are you entitled to a refund? The company spent money on goods and personnel. Certainly not a full refund, no?
SC has been in production for 3 years now. They have set up studios, hired personnel, purchased a full source code license of CryEngine, etc, etc. They have been very open about their development progress and delivered interim prototypes and now a playable Alpha which contains the majority of the promised functionality.
When did this person purchase a package?

Carefully worded and basically told the money is no longer there.Yes of course when he started up those new offices he did so with no money, that would have been really good management of a crowd funded operation to spend what you don't have.
So i guess moving forward this game no longer has any money,it is all gone it is not sitting in a bank account. All those employees would have been laid off without your money.
That is also why he has out sourced ship making,so they are paying a studio or two or three to make ships that have not even been sold yet or..........
Or they have been selling you pictures and never really had the ship they were selling you until AFTER the fact, that again would be a very nice way to treat your customers who are giving you FREE handouts.
Either way his cheap ass lawyer doesn't make the law.The laws can vary depending where you live, some have no law per say example no refund unless defective and even then can offer a replacement or to fix the item in question. However if it was a misleading sale, that is illegal, they must represent their product fully and with full intention to deliver a for fit sale product.
