I'll be honest, I did enjoy the Star Trek series, but I am not a Trekkie. That's fine though, you don't have to be one to love the game. Spaceships shooting beam weapons, nuff said.

It's Star Trek where you get to be the star of your own story. What more could you want?

Space. That's nuff said. Everything else is icing.

I love STO because of the sheer variety of things to do, the beautifully crafted ships, and because I'm an astronomy buff who likes MMOs whose setting is the universe!

Space combat in STO is the most fun combat i've had in any MMO (fire the Pew Pew fazers and disruptors wait was that a torp?) plus of course the stories.

That's easy, I like Cryptic since CoH and I like Trek since TOS (ok, I'm not that old  more precisely since the movies and TNG, but I'm in the "Kirk over Picard" camp). So playing STO is obvious. Especially after you've first heard Nimoy after the tutorial... Great game.

What I love the most, maybe the freeform-esque character building (BOff and ship), the DOff system, the logical gear matrix (at least at start), the fun events, the Seasons / Episodes mission line layout. Writing is cool too, and the ties to the lore (but I still prefer the original Trek).

What not so much, lately it became way too grind-heavy for my taste. I gave up the fleet grind a couple updates ago, and nowadays the endgame grind too... Luckily it's not really needed for the story (khm... Neverwinter  ).

    ------
A bit off-topic: it's not a "giveaway" by the letter, but in CO they've added with the latest update a free action-figure and a pack of event-currency for everyone, as an apology for the totally bugged winter event  just log in and claim it from the store.

It has been my go to game for a long time. I keep checking out others, but always come back.

STO is great! I love the mixture of ship combat, then being able to move around your ship, deck by deck and interact with the crew and then go on a real Away Mission just like in the shows! Sorry Riker!! This Captain does go on Away Missions!!

Honestly because it reminds me of ST: Birth of the Federation.

Fond memories of my father and I playing that together when I would come over. Was also in the hayday of Microprose greatness.

Fun game built around one of my all time favorite sci-fi tv series. One of the few if not only MMO's to offer, space & ground combat.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

I really love this game, playing it since the beta and still i'm happy with it. 5 years since release and still they develope new content (seasons) and keep the Star Trek Spirit alive. That's why i love this game.

I love star trek onlie because it allows me to play with space ships and aliens from other planets whithout having to spend massive amounts of hours building them only to have it destroyed permanently in mere seconds its also a great way for me to live out a fantasy of being a meber of my favorite show star trek voyager .its a place that allows me be something I can never be and do thing I can never do .all from the the comfort of my desk or in most cases for me from my bed as I have a rather difficult time getting out of it due to illnesses . I love that It has different events for some of the holidays like the summer event and qs winter wonderland . these are just a few of the many reasons I love startrek online .

i am the immortal who will find perfect utopia at all cost .

Growing up, I watched Star Trek with my mother. I loved the series right away. While the reboot is fun, the lack of the old trek that I loved was a bit of a void in my life. But with Star Trek Online, you really feel like you are continuing the saga that was started with The Original Series and continued through Voyager. You get to see your old favorites, get to visit the worlds and settings and plots that made Trek what it is. And you ge tto fly giant space ships and shoot lasers!

Why do I love Star Trek Online? Besides that it's free to play?

Well, because of the plethora of choices given to you at chargen coupled with an ever-evolving epic story spanning all the Quadrants of the Milky Way Galaxy! With the Iconian storyline having ended, the possibilities of Starfleet going back to being explorers whilst the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Republic expand is pretty high, and that means new planets to explore, new civilizations to engage in diplomacy with, and to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Plus, flying iconic Star Trek ships decked in the best gear and locking phasers on those who seek to disrupt peace is a pretty awesome feeling.

The character customization is fantastic, and you can be the captain of your own ship.

Star Trek Online is a game of mixed blessings--a game that provides an interesting space to play, the ability to play a captain in the Star Trek universe where not only can I work to produce a "look" that appeals to me, but also gives me the chance to find a space ship that I can do the same with. It has a community that is constantly trying to discover the limits of the game, while also reaching out to one another to make the game more fun to play. Certainly, Cryptic Studios works hard to produce a great game, and flaws emerge, but often those same flaws (and their fixes) have become part of the mystique of playing the game.

Cheers to the Winter Event, Q's Winter Wonderland and the upcoming Breen dreadnought. I'm looking forward to skating my way to a new ship this year.
