You're either thinking of coming back or not. Since you have posted here, it makes me think that you miss FFXI and want to come back?
I also left FFXI, took a couple years off, played some SWG, EQ2, and lastly WoW....and came back. I like both WoW and FFXI, and will prolly take turns playing them. They offer such different gameplay, both with their pros and cons.
I too left FFXI because of the need for grouping, but now that I'm playing again...I find it's something that makes me love the game. There's nothing better when you get a good, efficient group and get some major exp. The downside of course is if you get in a bad group. But it's part of the game. You get to meet some really wonderful people that you may not have met were you playing solo. I also find the folks on FFXI a ton more friendly and helpful than WoW. I have to say though, my WoW guild sucks...so maybe I'd think differently if my guild there was better.
Anywho, if you're thinking of coming back....you don't need anyone to give you good reasons and otherwise 'convince' you that FFXI is THE game to play. Since you've played it in the past, you know what it has to offer...and what other games have to offer. It's your decision, and no matter what I nor anyone else tells you...you've probably already made your mind up.
You could always do what I'm doing, play a month (or 2) FFXI and then play a month WoW. If I could afford to pay for 2 subscriptions for both games (my husband and I both play) then we prolly would play them both. That's my 2 cents anyways
Originally posted by destro3979 i played awile ago and then went to WoWthe main reason was because i didnt like how u had to party after 10(maby other lvl) to get good expso i would like some good reasons to play agin
Well, with the increase of XP for Easy Prey mobs and the new partner NPCs, it's easier to solo than it used to be.
However, if you don't like having to party, FFXI is probably not for you. Not every game is for every player.

well my friends(60BLM and 68RDM) know how to solo and lvl really fast to 30 so the lvlin isnt a problem now
I wouldn't suggest RNG. Unless of course they UNERFED it while I've been away, which is highly unlikely. As a former 75 RNG, I always respected the hitting power of SAM's, but that's just me. Pulling isn't that big of a deal really, unless that's what gets your rocks off, lol.
On a sidenote, I played FFXI for a few years. I miss my friends there but I certainly don't miss forced grouping and begging for help with quests. Just think of all the reasons you left, the pros and cons of the game and then make a sound decision.
well the nerf on rng was a good one i think. Rngs were a hugely overpowered damage dealing class before it. And now even with the nerf rngs are still arguably the best dd class in the game. It just forces rngs to rely on there bow instead of wacking it and using there bow every once and a while.
I really only said this becaues i dont like thfs lol. I hate pting with them and to be honest ive only pted with a few that were good. SATA is what they have for damage and most only use it 1-2 times a fight and could easily use it more if they wanted to. I pted with the same thf in every one of my pts from 40-48. That was the last good thf i pted with. He would sata almost 4 times a fight and did sick damage with his xbow.
RNG don't hit for nearly what they used to hit for. I had all HQ gear and still got outdamaged often. Who wants to pay the massive cost to level a RNG and only do average damage endgame? I can understand the nerf but they over did it a bit. I can see making a RNG absolutely HAVE to rely on his ranged weapon, but don't reduce his rng acc and overall damage.
If you think about it, they nerfed it in 2 ways, they TP slower because they can't melee and also reduced WS damage vastly.
