The latest 'roadmap' for Lord of the Rings Online that gives players a brief look ahead at what 2016 will bring to the game. Among other things, players can look forward to quality of life improvements, more Fellowship Challenges including, devs wrote, a 12-player raid, a level cap increase to 105 and new collections with an improved UI specifically for that purpose.

The addition of a raid is quite big news - players have been complaining about that for a long time, and Turbine had seemingly abandoned the idea of them. It looks like the new producer (who has headed up lots of player requested features) is much more in tune with the community.

Isn't Turbine shutting this down? I swear I read an article about that a month or so ago.... If not my apologies. I used to have a lot of fun with this game but I left just after Moria, really changed the game for the worse imo.

@Daakkon The Russian LOTRO service shut down earlier this year. Not sure if that's what you're thinking about?

Perhaps I'm just cynical .  I read post as another troll attempt. LOTRO is doing well for an older game.  Yes, there were server mergers but remaining servers are active and still many long term guilds around.

Can't believe some of you are still putting money into this game. It's like you have absolutely zero standards as long as it has the LoTR name. Wake up

why the hate? for its sub-genre (theme park mmo) it's exceptional, especially in terms of little details that help immerse the player in middle earth. it has classes that dont exist in other games it has music, and i still hold Landroval up as the pinnacle of an mmo community.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Actually they pay most people now. I have been getting paid since they went F2P. Even though the game didnt deliver anywhere near the Middle Earth most people expected those of us who bought lifetime passes have been more than compensated. So the only question is getting paid to play a mediocre (at best) version of Middle Earth better than paying for a better version?

Unfortunate news about the data centers. The game runs horribly on my system, especially compared to modern MMO's. Makes mounted combat unplayable in the new areas.

I hope this will be an expansion that can be paid with TP. I have over 12K (and still growing) that I'm not using. Also seriously hope that LotRo will be around for a bit longer and new classes will be created. Game is very good on lore, yet decent because it's a themepark MMO...

I believe they said they are not doing paid expansions anymore; however, I could be wrong or they may change their mind. I also don't see new classes in the future at this point.

To be fair, that standard of LoTRO is way better than any other MMO franchise from movies so far (it is definitely better than SWTOR and AoC by several miles).

Problem with LoTRO wasn't that it was a bad mmo but it is not as true to the spirit of LoTR as it should be.

Agree, except the end, the pinnacle? I think it's more like the Mountains over Moria, with -at least- 3 peaks, Laurelin, Landy, and... TSW  or by staying with LotRO maybe Belegaer for third (I'm not there often enough for a firm opinion, it surely has nice bands - even if my favourite german one, die Meisterbarden are on Gwaihir I think)

It is a shame they ran out of money during development and didn't have time to finish the monsters side of the faction to make them playable, they had all the models and different skins, which is why they came up with the pvp zone. Shame one of the expansions was not used to complete this. The pvp was fun and I enjoyed playing the Spider.
