I know there was a post about this but there wasn't a definite answer. What is the population like in DDO? I thinking about buying the game but I want to make sure there are people to play with since it is so group-oriented. How likely is this game going to bomb? Please no false information antifanbois. Thanks

I've been playing so far on one of the lesser populated servers and it's populated enough to find groups easily enough (being a cleric like I am makes that easier as well I think).
Since it's the first month after release there are many people playing who won't be playing in a month's time, and who don't know much about what they are doing, so that can be a pain. Yesterday evening we got to the end of a multipart quest only to find that our party's rogue couldn't disable traps (?!?), resulting in a group wipe by one nasty fire trap. I've also been in groups where figfhters are stingy about spending money on armor, resulting in a waste of spell points by me, disorganized groups of people running off and aggroing everything under the sun, or splitting in 2 different directions, etc. So there are a fair number of morons out there playing atm. The good news is that every now and then I get into a good group of players who know what they are doing, and then the game is magic because you are really working well as a team, playing smart, and really reaching great goals.
I'm playing a wizard (yeah i know go figure - but i am Copeland for crying out loud) on sarlona (i think thats the name) and i've noticed quite a nice population. I haven't seen any childish noobs yet either. I haven't had much time to play lately but what i've seen so far is nice.
Make a difference!
I can't give you a number because I don't know. I can't speak for all servers either. I playon Thelanis which has been declared the unofficial RP server along with Sarlona. There are always plenty of people on to group with during the day during the week when I play mostly. I play EST. I play most evenings also and of course there are more people on at those times too. On weekends there are a lot of people playing and your taverns are packed full of people. On weekends and most weeknights you shouldn't have a problem getting an invite without any effort on your part (besides flagging yourself lfg). As for during the day, there are plenty of people looking for a group, but not many people looking to lead a group. This is where I have stepped up and started starting my own groups. If you are timid or meek and are afraid to start your own group, then you might have some trouble finding a group withing the first 15min of being flagged lfg during the daytime during the week.
Every server has their own stories to tell and could be different in a better or worse way than my server I play on. I just suggest that you join a "good" guild that suits your type of playstyle and playtimes and you won't have to worry about finding someone reliable to group with. This game excels at being a game for you and 5 other people to consistently play together in. It is good with pickup groups, but DDO excels at the small group of friends theme.
