State of the game?

KwazyKwazy Member Posts: 4

My bros and I played through beta then for about 6 months. We all got bored with the reptitive nerfings of each class every month. Plus when we all got over 100 it was just repetitive... run missions. I just wonder how the game is now? Is it still nerfing all the time till a character you built for a month is useless? Is it still repetitive missions at high lvls? Not to mention the extreme lag in most every city and the large hunting zones.... sometimes the only way to get out of it was to get in a mission. Did they ever fix that huge memory leak?

I just want to get a feel for the game in its state now and wanted to hear from current players.

Murder may be illegal but it doesn't mean I have to like you.

I was an original beta'er, played through about 2 months of release (oh the agony).  Recently signed up for the game again.

There's a good deal more to do now than there was back then.  Static dungeons and the Shadowlands playfields and quests will give you quite a bit more to do than just missioning.  Dynacamps also offer some slightly different experiences, but not much better than team missions.

For the most part, the leak is gone (still leaks a bit, just nothing as bad as back in the day...I had my chars logged in all weekend while I did stuff around the house and ran errands).  Can't comment too much about class nerfing, but in reviewing the guides and doing the research on all my newest chars I haven't seen much in the way of constant complaints.  Normal stuff for a game that is about 2 years old, really...bit of this and that, but nothing as overreaching as it was back in the first few months.

All in all it's pretty stable.  Personally, I love the missions...so that's what I came back for.  But the static dungeons and Shadowlands are a great retreat from the monotony of MFing...err, missioning.

    1. Drop rates have been fixed here and there, but there are still many items wich are hard to get and must be camped for long time (mainly due to other people camping for it aswell). But as for regular drops, SL enemys now drop loot, some of wich is VERY good. lvl 80 Hecklers drop half digested human parts wich can be changed into implants and sell for like 5-15k. Not to mention the ingots they drop, sell for 50-800k for the planetnium ones.

    2. In the shadowlands, no. I dunno why they took that out after the beta even.

    3. You can use these like, teleporter things, they are statues that you can go to the garden through, from there you can teleport to other statues around the shadowlands. Like, there is one when u leave jobe research, you use it, go to garden, from there yo use another tele that teles you to diff places, like the lvl 80 hecklers. Saves alot of time but to my knowledge fixer run buffs still wont work and u cant use a yalm in shadowlands.

    4. Shadowlands is still like that. I think it wasment to be that way, shadowlands wasnt ment to be a cake walk like Rubi-Ka...

    5. shadowland enemys give 3x more exp now. So pretty much anywhere will give good exp as long as spawns are ok. As for Rubi-ka, just the same old places, but i find most dungeons to be VERY good exp, special Temple of the Three Winds. got my first AO char to lvl 90 in less than 2 weeks so lvling is good.

    6. I dunno but i see tons of newbies running around. I think people come and go, dont really know what you mean, i dont know too many people in AO, i just know there are tons of people still playing since everywhere i go there are people.
