It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me. I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too. 09f911029d74e35bd84156c5635688c0
Depends on what you're looking for in a game - I bought GW, played it for a weekend and then gave it to a friend. I couldn't bear to play that game another minute.
DDO though - I find it to be both challenging and entertaining. It's not for 18 hour a day, full-steam ahead gamers though. DDO is like an aged bordeaux - its complexities are to be appreciated by thoughtful gamers, not downed like a six-pack of Busch Light.
Does ddo have a free month include in when you buy the game? i hope so. So the 50$ is to buy the best of the 2 games.
Has for the vast terrain to explore its cool i dont really spending 1 hour of my time trying to find the instance or the quest and i have no fun exploring mindless countries for nothing like swg has (yes nge killed it)

Why did you quit?
i didnt buy right away ddo because im affraid of is lack of questing and content and the fact level are cap at 10 and i played for 5 years on pen and paper edition and character were pretty much caped to level 20.
I really want to spent this 50$ on the game which is the more fun, i just cancel wow which was pretty much entertaining till lv 60.
Are you looking for pvp ? Cause if you are, DDO has none, while GW has the best around.
Do you want to be able to solo or do you like forced grouping ? You can solo in GW, althought with the help of computer controled henchmen. You can't solo in DDO.
Do you want a game that has been proven to be fun, that has received great reviews for over a year, or do you want a game that' been out for a week and has received a lukewarm welcome ?
I haven't installed my DDO yet to play, but I do know about Guild Wars. It's definately not the game for PvE or grouping. It's mostly just about the PvP game. And the PvP is fun, though still not my favorite (I'm not much of a PvPer to begin with). But if you like D&D, grouping, and no PvP, go with DDO if those are the only 2 choices you're going with. I really didn't care much for Guild Wars.
I tried GW over Xmas and in a word.......HATE, well thats a bit strong, I just didnt like it. PvP was entertaining for a bit but bleh.
DDO, I was deffinately NOT going anywhere near it, an old MMO friend tried to talk me into it, NO WAY I said but I made the mistake of taking note of all the nay-sayers and 'experts' on this forum. Then one day last week I bought it and so far am totaly enjoying it.
DDO is nothing like GW other than they both use instances. Do yourself a favour and look at each game and decide on one.
Both are somewhat similar in terms of graphics and gameplay
GW is arena type pvp not on the scale of WoW and to unlock any good skills your going to have to run the pve aspect of the game which is where I ultimately got bored and stopped. This game really requires u to be involved with a guild if u want to partake in pvp to its full glory, so this will take some socializing skills. When it comes to the PvE portion, u don't have to socialize at all and could solo ur way to lvl 20 this results in a somewhat lack luster community.
DDO is all centered around group pve, don't expect to be able to solo any dungeons on your own. It's meant to be a group focused game and its value is greatly increased when u can team with ppl u know in real life or have a strong bond with in the virtual world. The positives it has over WoW (the self proclaimed king of mmorpgs right now) You won't have to worry about friends being a level so far ahead or under that u simply won't be able to quest together. There's no 20-40 man raids in DDO, if ur a fan of having to round up 40 ppl to run a dungeon and roll against for loots all amounting to 8 hours taken out of ur day something is wrong with u. As a result your not going to run into those elite guilds run by greedy pompous officers that make the Third Reich look like some Disney World ride There's no big rush in DDO and as a result it may turn off some ppl who are motivated by being the most uber and showing off all there epic loot to the masses because as of now there's no way to inpect anyones items
The cons of both games, It can be hard to find pick up groups at times but this is true of most any mmorpg. Often times spamming in the general chat or having ur LFT up won't help much and you will have to take the innitiative of spamming ppl individualy to start a team. Once u find a guild that actually has a good group of ppl that share ur online hours it minimized this. Don't expect the world in either game to be as immersive as WoW.

There's no vast terrain to explore in either of those 2 games. So thats a moot point.
Do you have another 15$ a month or just $50?

If your really into PvP GW has the best value possible.
If your into PVE DDO is your game.
Don't expect to play either longer than a 1-3 months.
