Game changes for CB2

http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/7363-pm-diary-21-party-system-and-energy-changes/

As you may have read here, myself and a part of our team is currently in Seoul, South-Korea, to meet the developers (Pearl Abyss) in person to discuss your feedback and the next steps towards CBT2 and Launch, both to happen in Q1 2016.

So far the meetings have been very promising and it has been a pleasure to meet the guys from Pearl Abyss. As a little intermezzo until the next ‘event’ starts in January (not the CBT2 *tease*), we would like to present the updates that we can confirm so far for CBT2 and/or launch or the features that have been initiated to be deployed at some point in the future.

Let’s start with the most recent feature to be implemented.

Party Play Revamp

On the 8th January, the KR the Korean version will receive the revamped Party Play setting which is based on our feedback from CBT1. So far players had the feeling that they were penalized for playing together with friends, as the experience benefit was rather turning into a malus. As we are still preparing launch, the running services will be able to enjoy the new benefits sooner of course. We will see this in our CBT2.

The change as of today will be as follows:

Players in Party

Old EXP

Example*

New EXP

Example*

1

100%

100

100%

100

2

50%

4

25%

100

50%

200

5

20%

100

50%

*Example: A scenario where every player in the party kills a monster for 100EXP and considering all party members are in perfect range. If you move out of range EXP won’t be shared.

The benefit increases if you consider that you can work together to kill larger mobs of stronger monster types. But be careful, the more you move away from each other and the killed monster, the higher the chances to lose the bonus. But fear not, developers doubled the share-range for the party bonus and additionally the developers reacted very positively towards our suggestion to add an indicator that will allow you to monitor whether you are in range or not. The indicator will be probably implemented latest by launch and it will look similar to the Wifi Symbol (on your cell-phone) that will gradually indicate whether or not your party members are in range.

Experience gain will be determined based on the lowest party member’s level and the monster level.

Happy hunting!

Field Boss Drops

Those of you that were able to participate in our CBT1 event Shadows Looming might have come across our field bosses Red Nose, Hebetate Tree Spirit or Bheg at Serendia Temple or at the Altar of Agris. Those bosses seemed to be quite strong and required more than 40 people to kill. However, once your characters are fully developed, it will take between 10~30 people to kill them, depending on your equipment and level. That being said, as before only a handful of players acquired a guaranteed drop, this has been significantly increased to reward those contributing to kill the monster.

Energy System

Unlike the KR version, processing requires energy. Especially at a lower level this may slow you down more than you might enjoy. However, this feature is part of a controlling mechanism to prevent the marketplace to be overflowed with certain items, hence destroying the actual benefit from using that feature in the first place and to partially slow down the progress in benefit of the game’s longevity.

However, we have taken your feedback into consideration and the result should be in everyone’s interest. Energy Potions will not be sold in the Cash Shop. In addition, it is currently being discussed to add a system that allows players to consult an NPC that will magically transfer your unused energy into an Energy Potion which can be sold on the marketplace. Ultimately this will lead to a shift of energy and allow people to collect energy over time to utilize it when needed.

Additionally, processing at a higher profession level will receive a chance of not consuming any energy at random.

Please note, this is merely the first part of the PM Diary. The heavier topics such as PvP and Cash Shop will be dealt with in the next part, which we will share around mid/end next week.

Best regards

PM Belsazar & the BDO Team

I like what they doing for The EU/NA version But what really need to be CHANGED is   Mobs/elite/World boss Difficulty .. it's way to easy..
Anyone who's been following this game should know what i mean
From months of watching videos, playing the game and listening to widespread observation of the playerbase,They are calling them out as being too easy and in fact... Well.. Boring.

Boring, static bosses that pose little to NO difficulty at all.
world bosses should be extremely tough because you need to get people gathered around to challenge the creature and work as a team. Older MMOs were fairly good as making world bosses pretty darn terrifying

I have fought world boss and saw video of boss standing there swinging their fist in the air and not doing any massive damage on hit, 10 min of fighting a baby basically.

"boss" that cant even take down one player its simply lots of-hp normal mob You are not supposed to finish a world boss like you just killed a normal mobs,

Playing in the Korean and Ru server for Black Desert, and I haven't found one that can be considered a "world boss" yet

You can also aggro 20+ mobs by running next to them in some cave without been worry getting hit by them or get kill

All  know is this game will be B2P+P2W. They should either go B2P without P2W cash shop or F2P+P2W. They have to decide...or they simply don't care for old vets to the genre like me :)

The PVE in this game is clearly half-assed.
A solo snooze-fest that gets you lvl 50 within a week even with casual playing with no dungeons or raids.
It's not a PVE game, it's all about getting 50 fast so you can start PVPing and start your never-ending gear upgrade grind, haven't you heard?

But heyyy it looks great right?
Well, the only thing that looks great are the character models which is typical korean style, make an awesome character creation and detailed sexy character models and don't worry if everything else is average.
    No lore either.
There is absolutelly nothing PVE in this game, you can't even call it MMORPG.

Soulless shallow empty silly game is what I see in BDO.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

I think the changes to the energy system are very bad. It would have been preferable to have processing not require energy, as in the Korean version.

I have feeling the way there changing to energy system is to slow down the amount people getting to endgame and getting done to have noting to do at a faster time frame.

My bad feeling is selling cash shop items for in game gold can be a problem a big mass problem.

Sounds like the so-called "closed beta" (a.k.a. paid beta) is where they make the game as attractive as possible for the gullible western audience. When enough starter packs and B2P boxes have been sold, all these changes can be reverted back, due to "player demand".

Great, so "energy potions" can't be bought directly from the Cash Shop, only from other players. Is it still possible to buy Cash Shop items and sell them to other players ? Because if that is the case, those players that want loads of energy potions only need to open their wallets...

The group experience change was a good move, but the change to the energy system can hardly be called "making the game as attractive as possible  for the gullible western audience". Quite the opposite.

A big issue with the energy system change is that it makes energy much more like labor points in ArchAge, which was probably one of the most divisive systems in that game and a system that facilitated/encouraged p2w, "cheating", afkers, bots, etc.

Indeed, the fact that energy was not like labor in AA (ie needed to do almost anything except fighting mobs) was a selling point for the game.

Can't forget the game it self with limited housing in the world drove alot people away then the pvp with the zerg fighting then over time even if was not p2w people would get way to head of the gear then that be a problem. Game had problem like I see with BDO it have problem alot stuff need to change as it's a pvp game to keep people coming they need a way to keep people if there to many gear players or few guilds owning everything and staying ahead of the power level over new players.

Yeah there are some things that seem questionable, but I get annoyed when the localization team makes things even worse than in the original version.

Many aspects of the Korean version actually sounded quite good- no pvp till 50 but extremely fast leveling so that you can get quickly to the meat of the game, no need to use energy for processing, etc. I'll still play it, because it has so many amazing elements, and hopefully in practice the energy changes might not be as bad as they seem.

Whats it matter to you? You haven't spent a dime in 5 years on a game and you're not going to for this one either. No developer on this planet gives a shit what your opinion is on anything.

They say vote with your wallet. However, you vote with nothing and still think you have a voice.  Sorry to tell you life doesn't work that way.

I think the changes are great and can't wait for CBT2.

There some games one can vote with their wallet then dev or the company still do pretty shady things. But still true if everyone started to do that with every mmo even if the mmo need to shut down then dev or the company start backing off or there out of the job. But people will willing to drop money on games that don't give back what there money worth.

At least that's better than having to sub and the game having extreme pw2 elements like in AA.

The only concern I'd have is items taken out of the shop coming back in later. If it was F2P then you could reasonably expect to see this happen but you're not out of pocket. Seeing as they've decided to go with a B2P option in the West, I think it would be a pretty shitty trick to pull if they added stuff back later.

It's hard to vote with your wallet with B2P because they've already had the box price out of you. Hopefully they'll resist the urge to squeeze the last few drops of blood out of this particular stone. This is one I'll probably wait out for 6 months to see how the shop evolves before I make a decision about buying it.

I'm dropping $30 just get in and a pass for my friend if he likes it or not when it comes out. If they end up going south then $30 was not a big lost if I got more then 2 hours of enjoyment out of it pretty much like watching a movie and having food and drinks with it.

What's preventing you from saving your 30 bucks and playing something else for 3 months until this game settles down and devs show their real intentions?

Btw I know the answer so you dont have to answer the question I just wanted you to think about it.

Not much preventing me from saving $30. There are a few thing I don't like about the game like every mmo but I'm going see how it pans out. As right now I play little of abit of Rift didn't like how dev going with the game with each update and I am playing skyforge abit more lately is a nice game but no open world really gets me.

I have try GW2 there no good true open world just big open maps same with FF14 even if I can get pass the combat still there no open world there still. I'm not going back to wow seem nice after few major update but I waited on there boat to long befor they done anything 6 damn years to updated a class. I can go back to Asheron Call but thats not being supported much.

There Blade and Soul going give it a try but don't think they would hook me but will try it out.

But anyhow what drags me to BDO it just reminds me of Asheron Call abit is all not the point of waiting for a game and see how it pans out is that I want to play with a more open world and I know there Arche Age but can't get pass high amount of grind to see if I can enjoy the game with out paying high amount I'm not made of money.

I do play some Action RPG but that a side thing but can't get in them full time. Not much out there for me to spend my time out there to spend my time why waiting for a game to just pan out if they go south.
