Webzen has posted a notice on the ASTA site to let players and fans know that the open beta for the game is delayed indefinitely. While citing exceptional reception from the community, the post indicates that more effort needs to be expended in both voice-over recording and translations as well as several technical issues that need attention.

In other words, they're having serious doubts about whether it's worth the expense to "westernize" a version of the game.

Perhaps they're waiting to see how well BnS and BDO do before making a final decision, but I get the feeling that ASTA may be a little "too asian" for general western audiences.

Yeah, because everyone is just lining up to sink their teeth into yet another Asian cash shop p2w grind fest since there aren't enough of them already.

First I've ever heard of the game.

Eh, I for one am glad they're at least putting in some effort. Its probably not gonna get big, but poorly done Korean style MMO's are a dime a dozen. At least having -some- manner of quality control at least shows they have at least some decency.

Must be because of the horrendous translation they did during closed beta.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

I liked the game a lot, more than I liked B&S and BDO. I thought the game was in good shape before, other than the lack of chat translation. But they sent out a very extensive survey to get details. I filled mine out, it took about 15 minutes, and it seems a LOT of others did so as well! Based on these surveys, they probably are changing a few basic mechanics of the game to make it more appealing to the west. The beta was heavily populated, and there was a lot more excitement for the game in chat than there was in BDO and B&S. Sure, the graphics were a little dated, but that didn't take away from how much fun I had!

Of all three of these games releasing soon, BDO B&S and ASTA, I really think that the true winner will be ASTA. I think the devs are thinking the same way, which is why they are taking the time to get the game right BEFORE they release it.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

Jolly good game to. I sincerely hope it lands on our western laps.

Haven't really seen Webzen do well to bring anything quality to the MMO-verse. That being said, it's actually nice to see a game want to do a good job with the localization and not have it half-assed. But if they have a typical P2W cash shop as so many Asian MMO's have done, I won't even bother trying it.

I just found this game last week, I didn't think i would find a new themepark MMORPG so quickly that has tab target and a healer class, Looking forward to trying this game when it releases.

Could this be a sign that companies will actually look at a game before bringing it over? It is really annoying seeing all the crap that is localized. Companies spend money to release something that they surely know will close in a few months. I do not get it. Then again maybe the leaders of these companies are just clueless.

I played this game extensively. I loved it. I am bummed it has been put off but am still hopeful that they can bring it to our market. It is not a typical Asian mmo. (Being Asian myself I am getting a bit tired of that saying) The east at least is trying to still create new MMOs which can not really be said of the west. Unless it is by Indi developers. I liked that each race had their own starting area, quest lines and look. Big fan of the combat and loved the mounts. The music is great and the visuals while not ground breaking were more than up to the task. Hope it comes back. I was waiting to play this month. It was going to be one of my games to play this year.
This post makes me want to go back and play World Of Warcraft.

Played the beta about 2 months back for a week got an archer to lvl 45 and had a blast with it. Despite what you may think this game was pretty dam good. The pvp was top and it was a blast everytime you got in a scenerio. There was just little pvp content (2 maps at the time) The only thing that could be considered pay to win about it was the lame casino style stat power up system. Hopefully they wisen up and change the game for the better.

From what I saw of it it was a decent game. I can respect a company that know they need to put more work in. If only more companies would do that.
