How on earth is this rpg ?! Just because you cast a "spell" looking thing, doesnt mean its rpg.
Well its got classes/advanced classes, party based gameplay where party members actually do things for each other physically in the world, different kind of stats, crafting/gathering, dungeons, buffs/debuffs, throw items, bosses, open world exploration, environments cause status effects, story of course.
You are going to have to do alot better than that if you want us to buy something. There is reason game companies spend so much money and time exploring what games offer before they are released. Perhaps you should take a queue from them.

More...Stamina, Encumbrance, weighted items. You can physically interact with NPCs and Enemies. You can climb up giant enemies and you must many times to hit weak points. Enemies have high and low resistances to different elements. Area of Effect skills. I probably missed a lot.

Im pretty confident this game will blow up on steam, not really worried to be honest. I just made this thread for fun.

Some enemies like the hydra can literally swallow you and you can see the lump in its neck. Other enemies will try to fall on its back if your trying to climb up its back or try to shake you off. The cyclops would grab you and bite you then slam you on to the ground. Flying monsters will drag you through the air and if you fall, you get fall massive fall damage. There are plenty of creatures.

Everything you do effects your stamina like grabbing and holding on to something. Weight effects your stamina, it depletes faster the more weight you have when you sprint. weight also slows your movement speed the more weight you gain from items. If your stamina depletes you will stop and breath for a few seconds. You also have to get enemies to lose their stamina, especially bosses.
I won't be buying it on steam . . . cause I already bought it on PS3! But I will vouch that it's an awesome RPG and do wish Dragon's Dogma online was coming to US.
Misleading title as it has been stated that the sales of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will affect the teams decision to make a Dragon's Dogma 2 and have no bearing on localizing the online version. (http://gamerant.com/dragons-dogma-sequel/)
No actual information on a Dragon's Dogma Online release for the west.
That said, after playing the Japanese version, if Dragon's Dogma Online comes west, I'll be at the opening bell. FluffyQuack did a youtube video with battle scenes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v-j85Ty4pk (he has quite a few videos on the game). I don't know if it should be called a full blown MMO though, as it's more like a co-op.

So even if the PC version sells really well, you really think that won't increase the chances of us getting the online version here? Because localizing the online version would sure as heck take less time than creating an entirely new game.
But then again, it wouldn't be the first time Capcom has screwed up massively while handling an IP. If they would bring the online version over here, then create a sequel (maybe a hybrid of online / offline) which addresses the shortcomings of the original game (Dark Arisen does address some already), and I'm fairly certain they'd make a ton of cash.
Sadly, I won't be buying the game for a while. One, it comes out a few weeks before Rise of the Tomb Raider, and as a huge fan of the first installment (and the original trilogy), the sequel is a must-buy. Two, I don't trust the port, and want to make sure it doesn't suck like those of some recent games (Fallout 4, Dragon Quest Heroes, and to some extent Witcher 3). I'm done paying top dollar for shit ports. Only reason I'm buying RotTR day 1 is because the same people are behind it as the first one, and it was well done on PC.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

You dont have to "trust the port" if you buy it on steam as if you dont like it you can get a refund as long you havnt spent more than 2 hours playing the game and less than 2 weeks since purchase. And what "port" are you refering to with the Witcher 3? So the console port was bad? As The Witcher games were only pc til they started porting to the console.
I've looked at it despite being a 3 1/2 yr old PS3 port. But I've seen comments similar to this a few times:
"The grueling final third of the new dungeon lacks any sense of balance or fun"
True or false?
"Social media gives legions of idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar after a glass of wine, without harming the community ... but now they have the same right to speak as a Nobel Prize winner. It's the invasion of the idiots”

Have you guys actually played it or are you saying it's amazing because of the features?
I've played it and it's one of my top RPGs of that generation. Excited to play it again on PC this week. I never pre-order games, and I pre-ordered this one. Good story line, good character development/paths, huge open world, great combat.

Thats the expansion zone, its meant to be brutal and optional. The rest of the main game gets hard after level 25 ish but not as much as the expansion. Best boss fights in an rpg imo, it makes you feel like you accomplished something epic when you take down the bosses. If you like games like dark souls, you probably will like this, only the fights last longer and you have party members.

False it was a blast the whole way through. Its an epic rpg, I would definitely recommend getting it especially if you haven't played it before.
The last dungeon is pretty hard, but it was originally sold as an expansion and it is again amazing- atmospheric, dark, dangerous. An mmo gamer or someone who likes Darksouls games would have no problem with it (I don't think its as hard as DarkSouls games by any stretch).
What I liked about it:
There is a real sense of danger. You and your party (although you can play solo if you want) adventure around and you need to actually prepare for the adventure. If you get caught out at night it is dark and scary. You will need a torch or some magic to see and dangerous monsters will come and get you.
The environment matters. If you are in a dark cave fighting just by the light of your torch and you fall in a underground river/pond/lake or go through a waterfall your torch will go out you will become drenched and the subterranean beasts will eat you. If you throw a flask of oil on something then shoot fire on it ... boom. Falling too far hurts, but picking up an enemy and hurling it over a cliff never gets old.
Combat is epic. The animations, the abilities, the way everything fits together, its my favorite combat system. Magic users cast devastating spells, summoning tornadoes and huge spikes of ice, calling down fiery meteors- but it takes time to cast such powerful spells. You can climb monsters and stab them in weak spots or cut off their armor, you can focus fire a certain part of a monster- like an ogre's leg so that it stumbles, or the wings of a griffin so it can't fly away. Archery is awesome- not has hard as something like Mount and Blade, but perhaps more satisfying.
Monster AI. The mobs can be pretty smart. You will get ambushed, stomped on, poisoned, put on fire, chased, run away from.
Amazing and strategic battles. On top of the awesome combat system and solid AI, some of the bigger battles are deeply strategic, and offer a host of possibilities of how to go about achieving victory. The scale of some are also great, from massive bosses to waves of mobs (and massive bosses).
Open ended. The first time I played through I just went around exploring, I didn't progress through the main quest much at all. Just walking around you'll find caves, encounter hideous beasts, bandits, castles, adventure. Its not as open ended as Skyrim and the world is much smaller; I would love to see what they could do with today's tech.
Story. The story is actually pretty interesting, it seems to take a back seat most of the time but is good enough once you get into it.
It might be just nostalgia, but I remember it as one of the best and most enjoyable rpgs I have ever played. Looking forward to getting into it again on the 16th.

I am another person who will not be buying it because I own a console version. However I played through this game multiple times and loved it. This is a great rpg and if you haven't played it give it try on steam, it's worth it!
