after you play for a week or two you will learn how easy it is to survive in ark. In fact out of all the survival games the AI and dinos are super easy even rex or raptors. Its very shallow for a survival game if you play it without playing on a pvp server, it actually gets boring fast with the very limited build options and basic needs. Good read though it was like that for a lot of us on day 1 and 2 learning the game without any tutorials which actually made it scary to play but that quickly wears off. The only thing you have to fear on a pve server is alphas and they rarely hit the beach or a gigo. If you want a real challenge though go near the borders of the snow zones along the beaches where its a endless war of mammoths rexes sabertooths argi's and wolves. Its funny to watch them constantly kill each other over and over 24 7

I think playing this game as PVE kind of defeats the purpose...and yes...PVE gets old fast as there isn't much challenge to it. PVP is another story. It can be hard to advance into a big base by yourself. You need to have at least 1 or 2 buddies to form a tribe or join a tribe if you want to survive long term on PVP. Of course you can solo PVP and it can still be fun, just a different way of playing. This game can be BRUTAL so be careful...PVP is not for carebears. I had a huge tribe and multiple large well supplied bases and it recently all went to shit because of an immature teenager who gained ownership of the tribe then ruined it. I admit it's hard to get back into the swing of things...many of us lost months of progress due to a childish asshat starting a war and ruined our great tribe that I helped start. We'll see what future ARK holds for me now...

You should play again the new dino balancing they've been doing has changed things alot. It used to be that you could take a level 15 dino's and they could kill level 60 wild dino's now they get destroyed. The biggest nerf was argy's which now do significantly less damage.

Over all I still think the game would be better with out rex, spino, giga and argy tames. Raptor's, Wolves, and other small predators could be tamable via birth only, this would be justifiable as how do you really tame a giant predator that would never recognize you as its alpha. This would force us into much more risky adventure and force players to cooperate to have any chance at building advanced things. I've never played around with the modding tools but I wonder if you could create a server that way.
