This past week we got a solid look at Blade & Soul from NC Soft. The game launches on January 19th, 2016 here is North America and many of you may have been playing in the betas. Blade & Soul has had great success in Korea, China, and Japan over the last few years and continues to draw fans with its heavy action combat style of play. The team also has a very aggressive post launch schedule for 2016 which we will go into below.

I´m playing the headstart and having a blast so far.
Combat is really fun and it seems very polished! Glad they are adding more content this year :)

Reading a lot of questions from other sites,i get the feeling NCSOFT is holding back on content on release just to save content that SHOULD be released now so it can be sold later.

IDK what the actual level cap is right now but i am certain it is at least 50 but they are only going to release level 40 cap ....sad.

I have speculated on this very subject for several years now because i can just tell by lack of content that devs are being greedy. To support the notion of a half released game they only have three instances a 4/6 and 1 24 man raid "easiest",that sounds pretty weak for a content release.
I definitely would not support this kind of business practice, they are straight up trying to rip you off.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

First, the level cap is 45 and not 40. I don't see a problem with this. Also, this is the least greedy game i've played so far. The cash shop does not feel pay 2 win in the least. I can't even figure out what to spend the nCoin on from the ones I got from my Master's pack.

Second, I don't see a problem with them releasing things in phases just to make sure everything works. However, i'd be a little disappointed if it took them a year to release the warlock. I just don't understand your hate towards this game. I've seen another post from you that was just as negative. I guess you don't like the game, but you can't seem to move on. Either way, hope it works out for ya man. Just have fun!

It's a free MMORPG and the cap currently is 45, what are they ripping you off from? Your saying about content "sold later", but what is being sold? There is nothing you need to pay for in this game other then your time. I can understand why they hold off some contents from initial release.
    1) It gives them time to prospect what the community and playerbase like most, be it PvP or PvE contents. From there they can release updates in a specific manner.
    2) If they release all the contents all at once, then it's obviously going to be played til it's dry. People will leave sooner than wanting more.
    3) No point in lower level raids, because it would already be outdated or out leveled, proving no challenge to lower level raids.

Other then the queues to log in, my biggest complaint is the voice acting that exists on most characters. A few are well done but there are some that sound like NCSoft employees with a mic doing, in some cases, bad Yoda impressions. There are NPC conversations where there aren't voice overs in mid quest text which seem weird to me.

Troupes? I think you mean "tropes" instead.

    Best mmo out right now.

Them butchering the cash shop and removing more than 2/3 of outfits (probably so they can pull some bullshit staggered release nonsense) is aggravating.

That, and the two sentence (barely) chat limit is obnoxious and while a simple change (so long as they aren't parsing all user text or something ridiculous), it probably won't happen for a year.

Honestly if we get any tailored features, content, or fixes that the Korean version doesn't have I will be blown away.I remember NCsoft with L2 and Aion, I'm definitely not a fan of them and the way they handle their imports... But it could be worse in another reality:

We could be dealing with Trion instead :/

Been waiting for the game since the first Korean reveal trailer, and I'm enjoying it. I saved up over the course of a year for the master pack...but will I trust NCwest to be decent and responsive? Too many doubts.

The voice acting is really good and really bad in some cases. It reminds me of watching voiced over kung-fu movies, so I guess that's why it doesn't strike me as weird at all haha.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

The game is completely free so i don't know how you get greedy dev's. One of the problems with the MMO community today is that players expect to be just given shit. I had hopped kickstarter would usher back in the era where people were happy to support games and pay for them so that the devs could work more on the game. People seem to think these teams are greedy yet the majority of games coming out don't recover their production budgets. These games are incredibly expensive to make and we need to be more supportive to that or we are just going to keep getting shitty retreads that they know will make money.

I don't mind when games have shitty quest text or voice acting to be honest. The vast vast majority of players are going to hit the skip button on every quest anyways, I would rather they spent their time and money on features that will keep people playing the game. The story in most mmo's only really serves to make leveling slightly more interesting anyways which the combat takes care of in this game.

I have been having a gr8 time playing BnS. The setback I,ve run into is that you receive special training sessions, which btw are fun, and in training session #5 as a Destroyer I'm supposed to grab (f) and then powerslam (Z). For the grab you have to have finished Chap 17 of the main quests but I got it while in chap 12. Finished ch 17 got my grab skill, went back to the secret training site only to find that it is NOT part of my usable skill set. Other wise it's a gr8 game. Game on Gamers!

No you don't you need to pay attention to exaclty what it says to do. If i recall correctly that is the "dual" move attack you do with him. He'll cast a first blast and then you use your knockdown and then press F to grab. You can always finish out these missions with the skills you have on hand at the time so re-examine things.

The game is yet another shithole F2P model, filled with idiocy such as:

    - bidding for gear in dungeons, yes you heard it right, BID against others instead rolling
    - sealed gear that you need to unseal to use; one needs to know what not to unseal, or you will end up stopping your progress for a long while until you can craft/buy the items you need... unless you hit the cash shop
    - RNG bonanza - you need class-specific items and you have to farm, unseal/unlock stuff until you get your item. Which will be sealed too! So you go unseal that as well. Where do you get your item? From an RNG "spin wheel", that needs items from a stupid, easy miniboss. Spam-kill miniboss, spin wheel, return to killing boss cycle for maybe hours - unless you hit the cash shop for class specific key lol
    - costly fast-travel - be prepared to run a lot

PvE is ezy-mode, and stuff is hidden below RNG and a need to spam dungeons. Strategy is non-existent compared to a WoW/Wildstar raid.

Verdict: shit F2P anime game, with idiotic F2P mechanics that are alien to Western MMO players. I expect that if you're in for PvP, you might have a good time, since it's not gear-based. If you want challenging team-based PvE, you're in for a disappointment.

And that is a problem? In Blade n Soul?...... First off the game is f2p so you did not have to pay for any thing for the content so it's not like NCsoft took a set price for the core game and then held back content. So I'm not sure how you got ripped off. I got the master pack and I know that I did not have to buy it to play! I got it because I want to support the game, because at the end of the day they are a business that has to make a profit! So come on peeps stop thinking everything should be free!!!!

So far this game is really cheap game to play because nearly everything you need drops. They give you your main weapon that will take you from lvl 4 to 45 and all you do is up grade it with the drops you get. The same with the soul shield, and outfits so I just dont get what the peeps are pissed off about?

Been watching this game for some three years, so had a rough idea what it was going to be like.I got to play in CB, bought the master pack, and had a great time.
All the years I have played MMO,s, I have never played a perfect game, but this is very near to what I expected.

One thing I dont like is the bidding system.
It is different, but it is a pain in the butt when your fighting, and the a screen comes up saying an auction has started, now thats dumb, why could,nt they keep all those until the end of the dungeon then let players bid,?.

I know they have to make a profit, but some stuff in the market is expensive, there is also loads of items you cant sell too.
I was dissapointed to find a lot of the costumes I got to wear from the shop not there when the game released, so shame on you NC that was not on.

I could go on, and be picky about this, and that, but as I said there is no perfect game.
What I will say is this is a great, game with really fluid combat, and the story gets better, as you go along.
Having a blast playing a FM atm at lvl 42 it is a fun game with a lot of tongue in cheek along the way.
