Where do I start on this under polished, amateur project? Its so bad...i mean I pretty much dislike everything in it.

Combat? ANIMATION DELAY!!!!! Hit button..wait....wait.. OK there is the damage (instant cast melee spell)

Combat Rotation? Pugilist= 1...2...3 REPEAT. Archer= DoT, 1,2,2 DoT, 2,2,Proc 1, DoT

Map? Designed by Hitler himself. Tiny text, zone warps are difficult to find, zoom options are so extreme either you can only see your character or you can see his dot from outer space. Text liters the map but is pointless as it has no reason except lore. O hey lets put text all over the place in some fantasy language no Earthling can read. O and nowhere on the map is there something that tells you what ZONE YOU ARE IN.

World Map? Hitlers sister made this one.Well if you zoom in an area you lose the world map and are locked into that general area. Great. Seeing as all maps arent displayed at the same time, opening the world map and clicking an area instantly overwhelms you with weird names and lines all over that place that have no meaning to you.

Zones? Well they look pretty. All twenty inches of them. These zones are tiny, when you really take things into perspective it might take you a whole 2-5 minutes to walk across them which leads to insane monster density. And there arent that many zones.
Interface?

Dungeons? Well they are locked behind story quests. NO PEASANT you just can't walk into any ol dungeon you need permission. Yes they have a person outside the dungeon (surrounded by monsters) there specifically to tell you that you can't go in unless you do the quest.

FATE Events? Only person there? Well don't bother they are designed for groups of players. If no one comes, no point in being there.

TL;DR.  Sucks So many annoying things that should have been scrubbed clean in Beta. No excuses for them

    1. Okay, this one is valid. However, it doesn't take long to get used to. As long as you start moving right when the telegraph appears, you'll be fine.

    2. Top of the map says what zone you're in. I've never had a problem with any aspect of it. Weird names? Imagine that, some areas actually have names. Fantasy language? It's a fucking fantasy game. How about they just name everything after real world places, that wouldn't be asinine at all, would it? Also, complaining about lore in an MMORPG based on Final Fantasy is idiotic at best. Your complaint about the map has no merit whatsoever.

    3. Some zones are small, some are large, but they're comparable to those found in other modern MMOs. They all look good and have a nice feel to them. Heavensward zones are generally much larger. Though something tells me if they were huge you'd be complaining about how long it takes to traverse them.

    4. So what? It's a story based game. The story content is decent, and doesn't take long to do. Plus it serves as a breadcrumb trail to level-appropriate areas. It's not Square's fault you prefer to skip content.

    5. It's the same problem with every game featuring that sort of game play. Most FATEs are perfectly soloable without much effort, only the world-boss ones require a group. They scale depending on the number of players around.

Honestly, you sound like your'e looking for a soulless grinding game. Plenty of those around, plus at max level there's plenty of 'endgame' content to grind through. It's the best raid-centric PvE game on the market right now.

Don't know why I bothered responding. It's obvious you're attempting to troll, seeing as how most of your complaints are just nit-picks or completely nonsensical, to the point where I'm not even sure you played the game for more than five minutes, if at all.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

The zones definitely do not compare favorably to other modern or even old mmos, there are multiple loading screens just going through cities/towns. I also found it extremely hard to navigate from area to area partly because there are just so many zones, loading in and out every 100 meters or so becomes disorienting.

That said, the game does look pretty good and is far better than "terrible, terrible" (imo).

I see what you are saying that the map says what zone you are in.. BUT WAIT. The map itself doesnt have it.. no thats the fantasy goobly glop in a fancy little title screen. The actual readable part is on the left off the map... in tiny text. SO badly designed

Yet the game has a huge following with many players, all paying a monthly sub.

Some even call it one of the better MMORPGS out today, yet here such a huge disconnect.

I've never been a person to like something just because someone else does. I don't have a collectivist mindset so referencing large groups of peoples opinions is pretty moot to me.

I've already outlined the problems. The combat is dull. The interface is the worst i have EVER used; it is comparable to using Windows 3.1. The zones are too small. There are pointless barriers to gameplay.

Now if that doesn't set well with you then tough. How does it affect your loving of the game? Did I shine the light on your 1:59er and now you see all the faults?

    1. They tried to adopt a feeling from FF combat system (turn-based) into FFXIV. I don't like it personally because it's neither here or there but most FF fans liked this combat system.

2-3. I'm not sure how to respond to the Hitler comment since your reference doesn't make sense at all. But at first glance since the map system is slightly different from WoW I guess you got confused, it's fairly easy to use.

    4. Starting zones are smaller, there will be much bigger zones post lvl-20 and expansion zones are considerably more vast.

    5. If you are a min/maxer and want to skip content FFXIV is not a game for you at all. That's not a con in general, it's a choice and works for their target audience. It's like I say coffee is terrible because I don't like it personally.

    6. You are in starting zones in a game that most players are playing the expansion now, can't expect too many people around. Although about 2 months ago when I was playing starting zones again it was very crowded. If you reach higher levels especially the expansion you will find more people that you'd care for. Hence doing FATE events can actually become fun.

Final verdict kinda falls in the line of whatever I don't like (without proper investigation nor reasoning) should not exist in the world. It's better for you that world does not work that way.

Actually all social constructs created by humans fall under that exact way of thinking. Sex, Marriage, Religion, Law, Systems of Government. A better statement would be to find one that doesn't.

The map doesn't communicate information effectively. Thus it is not a good map.

I think this is kinda how the game comes off at first but if you give it a chance and play it for a bit like into the HW content for instance you will see that beyond it's flaws is  a really interesting story and better made zones in the expansion and honestly i think having to play through the story to get to dungeons and to progress into the later game is kinda the point of an RPG, maybe you just don't like RPGs?

...and then you find out you will be grinding the same dungeons week after week for generic tokens to get current armour and weapon but you are only allowed to get a certain amount of tokens per week.

After a couple of months grinding they introduce a completely new token and a new armour set that is marginally better than the one you did grind for, make the old tokens super easy to get and you start the grind all over again with the same old dungeons and a weekly limit on the new tokens.

Repeat indefinitely (This exact thing has been going on since release)

That is why it is called Token Fantasy 14

The game has a healthy player base and will continue to do well, with or without you.

At this point nobody really cares, if they like it they are playing it and if they don't they aren't.

It's now an old game among a sea of others, they have slowed new content right the way down and are concentrating on the cash shop.  There are fewer players now than ever which means they will never give subscriber numbers ever again.

Just play it, or don't.  I don't even care enough about this game anymore to of written anything longer than this reply.

Go try Blade and Soul OP.

I'm going to help you make a more convincing negative review:

    1)  Don't start off in such a massively negative light that also insults a title; this is what is typically done by trolls who are trying to rile people up (not claiming you to be one, but trying to help with credibility) and will at best make them think you to be incredibly bias.

    2)  Don't start off a personal negative opinion by yelling or acting silly; if you're trying to create emphasize, there is a more respectable way to do so.

    3)  Scrap talking about rotation as you have no clue what you're talking about at level 20.  You haven't even unlocked your advanced job or the abilities thereof (or most cross class skills in the game).

    4)  Same problem as with #2 and #3 -- you're going overboard involving one of history's most reviled people just to cause a seen, while also only having experience with a scant few zones.  Some of which are bigger than you let on, and many of which are vast with the expansion.  In addition, the complaints about the map system is from lack of experience and not getting used to something new rather than an annoyance.  It's a common thing in MMOs, if you play more than one.

    5) Get rid of the "Interface" at the end of the Zones section.  This makes you seem like you were writing in a rage -- or with an agenda -- and forgot to give it an honestly read through before pressing post comment.

    6)  Dungeons that have conditions for entry have been around for ever; having to travel to them or unlock them were hallmarks of many games, including Vanilla World of Warcraft.  If a game doesn't hand you everything on a plate, and actually makes you work for things, then it isn't bad.  This section will make someone judge you and think that you just started MMOs during WoW's Mists of Pandaria.

    7)  Most fates can be done solo, and you also have your Chocobo Battle companion.  Not to mention that there is usually quite a bit of people still at them during prime time, and the game compensates for when there is not by lowering monster power and quantity.  The exception to this are multi-tier FATES with bosses in them.  Though they are still brought down in power so that a small group can finish it.

    8)  Add something in about the inventory -- you wouldn't know, as you haven't played long enough -- but the inventory system is a problem for some people.  Especially the armory when you're a pack rat.  But don't pass that information off as if you know, but rather mention that in your research you heard it was bad.  This will get even veterans to say, "hey, okay, I agree with this part" so long as you aren't writing / doing #s 1-7 on this list meant to help you.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

It's a great game until end game where all you do is same grind content over and over and next patch makes that gear you put work in trash and you have to grind for new one only to become trash next patch and so on. Complaining before end game means you're trolling.

I have tried playing twice now , but tab targeting is no longer an option for me, if the combat is boring it brings down the rest of the game
