Which free MMORPG is the best?

I've tried several: Conquer Online, Kal Online, Gate to Heavens(WHICH DOESNT WORK), Knight Online, and Ran Online.  All of them are god-awful.  I think I became sort of spoiled after playing WoW, which in my mind is the undisputed king of MMORPGS.  I had to sit there and try to figure out the damn interface for Kal Online for like 5 min.  The best one among these titles here is Conquer Online!(well to me) Are there any other great free mmorpgs?

 

Also, are there any mmorpgs that have a real life setting?  You make a character and do real stuff.  Go around town get a job, talk to others, 3D, easy to learn and play, and free?

    There are plenty of MUDs out there, I will say that some of the MUDs out there are 10x better than any "free" MMORPG that you will play. Only problem is muds are text based.

    Second Life, There, and I think there is one more that has semi-"real" life settings. Most stay away from that though. The Sims might fill that niche for you though, if you really like doing dishes, and sleeping a lot.

    You can play Anarchy online for free as long as you don't want any of the expansions.

    You need to realize that theres a reason the developers for these games don't charge for you to play them. They realized long ago that their game sucked and nobody in their right mind would pay to play it... But rather than let it go to waste they set up a server and let people play it for free, hoping to spread their names around for their next big flop release image

    Anarchy Online is a great game. You should try that out. It's from Funcom.

    Dofus is not completly free, but it is great 2d mmorpg with pretty graphics and tactical compat. You have free area to play, you are not limited by trial period. You may like it.

    I have not seen a free MMORPG that is worth investing time in. The commercial MMOs like WoW, Everquest, and Guild Wars tend to spoil you, bringing to mind the saying "you get what you pay for". Note: I've not played the free version of Anarchy Online, which could be an exception.

    Well if you dont mind the community try Runescape (DONT LAUGH!)  you should get many many hours of enjoyment if you dont pay anything. Free trial lasts forever you just dont get any updates.

    For that other, well you might wanna try the sims, but i dont think its free.

    It's a really bad idea to ask, "Which MMORPG is the best?" Why? Because you have told us practically nothing about what you are looking for. Tell us what you like in an MMORPG, be specific, and then we can point you in the right direction. ::::02::

    There is no way to define "best" but besides Anarchy Online (which arguably doesn't count because only part of it is free), I'd say one great free MMO is "A Tale in the Desert"....

    ...if you don't mind a MMO that has no combat of any sort and is based 100% on crafting.  If you love crafting-themed MMOs, Tale in the Desert is probably the best, and free to boot.

    If you need Fighty McAction though, it's not the best.  But really, we don't know what you're looking for.
