Really it could go either way. IF they release the new raids soon, it will live. If not, then it's to the chopping block just from people going on hiatus and quitting. As far as I know at least five of the top end guilds are either splitting or having roster issues.
Get your Avatus and hardmentors kills in now, may be your last chance.
For me, they made the game too hardcore at the start, which quickly made me leave. That and the requirements on attunement were friggin atrocious. Don't get me wrong, I like a challenge, but I also like to be able to que up for a dungeon and have a hope of getting it done. This game was so hardcore that you needed to be in Elitist Asshole guild to get a dungeon done, and that was the low level dungeons!
Once I quit, I never went back. Couldn't pay me to play Wildstar again. So many better games out there, and that's not even saying much right now.
The game is dying and will be dead by 2017. That's my prediction.
I like the art style a lot but the combat not at all I'm afraid. I left because of the combat. I wish it the very best because I think the creators of this game really do have their heart in it. You can see it in the way some of the environments are drawn or the dialogue and stories. I enjoyed reading all the journals and funny bits you collect along the way.
The only thing I liked about this title was the lore.
The art direction, the animations and the entire stable of game mechanics surrounding it were all trash.
It was a giant step backward in MMO gaming. When what we need to be looking at is more character control, this game went with a main dish of restrictions served up with a side of restrictions and seasoned heavily with roadblocks.
I am not a hardcore player, I simply don't have time to be, but I don't mind a challenge.
AND I FREAKING LOVE PLAYING WILDSTAR even when I spend half the time dead admiring skill of my dungeon teachers.
It keeps me on my toes and I have found there to be really good groups of people willing to help the less skilled/geared learn to do end game content even though they have been through it a zillion times themselves.
There are so many hidden nods to some of my favorite old (and not so old) Sci-Fi shows and I think its fun to stumble across one that I haven't noticed yet.
Sadly, there seems to be very little love coming from Carbine, even the support ticket responses often have a "Too bad nothing we can do" air about them.
The saddest part is the there are players who are more than happy to stay loyal even with the bugs and the lack of new content but they don't even know if they have been heard since they rarely get a response to anything other than "oops we didn't word that very well but we aren't going to fix it" which generally comes several days after the outcry. Lets face it, digital loot doesn't really cost them money and a random pet/costume/decor item sent to mailboxes for putting up with some of the recent "unfortunate wording" errors would have gone a long way.
The official forums are loaded with supporters who have really good ideas. Little things like... a toy box for inventory items to bigger things Like... the ability to group for dungeons with the opposing faction. (There is no reason to have Factions divided as tightly as they have, they really serve no purpose in WS other than to divide the player base especially at end game.)
I just wish we who still love running around Nexus had any hint that there was someone working on the game who actually still cared about it as much as we love playing it.
They changed model far too late and had initially problems with the change as well.
I am sorry for the fans but unless some really bizare miracle happens the game will close down soon (something like Justin Bieber saying he loves it and wants all his fans to play it, if he can make them listen to his "music" he can get them to do anything).
You can turn a game around by changing model or at least you could a few years back, TOR proves it pretty well. But I think if TOR had waited until now it would have failed as well. Carbine have lost too many devs to turn things around now and when they had problems with the F2P launched they burned their last bridge.
Tabula Rasa had far better numbers when it closed down, NC soft isn't SOE who could keep games running for years as long as the running costs and the income was the same. And the cost of hiring in enough new devs to start interesting new players would be rather large with no proof it would work, if NC soft West want more money it would be better to have Arenanet either do a new GW2 expansion or make a new MMO altogether, they have plenty of fans, a good engine and a huge team already.
The most fun I've ever had in an MMO, was probably Wildstar.
That being said, I think it's probably going to die. They missed the boat with a large number of their features and the game followed a far too strong themepark design, maybe if it was a sandbox design and had more player directed content, then the game could have chugged on longer, but that isn't the case today.
Hopefully another publisher will be able to pick up the rights to Wildstar for a song, I personally know if I had 2 million dollars to blow (I'm feeling generous), I'd be writing NCSoft a cheque for the IP, Art assets and source code. Maybe in this fictional world I'd mount it on my wall, or use it as the bones to create my own re-invisioning of Wildstar.
I would be absolutely shocked if they didn't take up my offer either.

I'm going to have to go with death.
- Combat feels lifeless... just a bunch of running around and flailing wildly at things with no feedback beyond a few floating numbers.
- Character customisation was (possible still is) needlessly complicated.
- Apparently this game was 'hardcore' and maybe in parts it is, but the general leveling experience from 1 to ~15 (i.e. first impressions) was coma inducing (i.e. so very very NOT hardcore).
- The humor / tone of the game was just off. Not to mention the incredibly annoying voices over that didn't match the text.
I could go on, but TL:DR is that the game has issues, and in a lot of cases the same issues it has had since beta, which have been complained about since beta, which is a shame as it felt like they almost had something but just couldn't quite capture it.
I don't think you truly got into the combat: the stuns, the disarms, the interrupts, the dodge rolling - it feels more active than any mmo on the market.
This game has provided me with hours of entertainment, but I must be honest and say after awhile it gets boring. I don't really know why, the quest chain just seems to be endless... I have identified one thing that just does not entertain me like other MMORPG's and that is the gathering and harvesting of materials. The crafting portion of Wildstar is sadly lacking in interest. Regardless of my disgust with the direction World of Warcraft has gone I have to point out their ability to make the grind of crafting, harvesting and etc. interesting. Archaeology was fantastic in WOW, especially with Mists of Panderia. Maybe Wildstar should think about more content geared to the PVE player who likes to explore and find stuff. Just a thought.

no it doesnt not by a mile lol.... Widlstar stuns is a 1 button click and build your toon to stun 2 interrupt armor etc there is zero strategy to that. You just see red and hit stun. Even the builds in wildstar suck, you have more freedom in wow in its current sad state
Rebirth - there's a lot of potential in this game it just needs investment.
The reason I'm not playing it: optimisation. I had to turn the sliders down to 'minecraft ugly' to get it to run smooth. That's the only reason it got uninstalled.
The downward trend for Blade & Soul is not contradictory at all. This game as well as Black Desert will disappear in six months because of a common trait all Korean games share, that is skin deep pretty but no content.
Death. Some games are evolutionary dead ends, and unfortunately, Wildstar is one of them, but at least for the future its possible that other developers will learn from the mistakes of Wildstar, i think thats the only positive thing to come of this honestly.
I agree with the person who said Wildstar had these wonderful nods to both sci fi shows and books. Every time I discovered one I would be gleeful that I recognized the obscure reference. Some were obvious of course. The dialogue had so many double meanings and I like the game and I absolutely loved the cartoon art. I loved the very socialist taxi driver too. Unfortunately the combat not so much so I sadly had to say goodbye to the game and I am sad to see it might shut down.

Gone back to Elder Scrolls Online and Elite Dangerous.
But it looks very nice though, like to play it from time to time.
