I played quite a bit,not a bad game but just like MTG it fails in it's CS component.

Some cards are just way too ridiculously o/p compared to others. Some of the mechanics i don't like other example the Buried mechanic.
The main reason these card games are not as good as they can be is because they far too often contain game play where one guy just watches while the other guy otk hims.

The flip side is to allow another mistake like MTG did and that is to allow every play to be countered, you need a fine balance, the game needs to be well thought out and there lies problem #2.Your making money selling cards,so there needs to be a lure so you get more powerful cards. The original cards cannot be planned for future cards that are not even a thought process yet.So you slowly gets cards run out of play or you get nerfs or fixes.

I don't know the perfect answer to fixing the high rng factor or the $$ factor or the balance factor,we just need a LOT more planning before these games pop up.MTG for example started out atrocious, some ridiculous o/p cards, over time they did a better job of balancing the game but then started to resort right the other way again.

Long story short,i i see too many areas in Hex that make it tough to take it serious just as i don't take Hearthstone seriously, the development ideas behind all these card games are just not good enough. One thing i can say is that HEX and MTG got one aspect correct...the STACK you need that for a proper  pvp game.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I have the greatest respect for these guys b/c they give the players a lot of stuff for free like card backs and aa cards just for logging in during certain times. From the player side it's obvious they are putting forth every effort to make the game as good as it can be with what they have. I agree with Wizardry about the op card thing he mentioned though and that is actually why I stopped playing a while after the first expansion came out. Some decks are just no fun to play against. In other games like Hearthstone or Chronicle you might be able to win with a gimmicky deck if your rng lands just right but in this game not really. If they could have a mode where the op cards aren't allowed(might & magic did this) that offer pack rewards like tournaments I would be back playing this game in a heartbeat.
