Like i said 800,000 for "that" looks like absolute shit and should be on ninentendos classic games collection on the wii at best LOL. Smed thinks hes bill gates or some shit i wouldnt give him 1 penny and "his" company is going to last 6 months at best especially with his name attached to it
And he didn't take away that people don't want a 2D permadeath game? That the problem was not enough game footage? I think he missed the point here. I'm a fan Smedley but the boat is gone.
Good he has a lot to prove to us gamers for all his mistakes in the past. I will be one of the first to give his game money but he has to show us he has changed and is going to make a great game.
I wonder is this the first "big" victim of the Pathfinder Online/Star Citizen Kickstarters. Soured "investors" + soured Smed's reputation = not even close to the goals. It would be shame, utter shame, if new MMO Kickstarters had to do things like offer great deals and release products and stuff :)
I wouldn't touch any of his games with a ten foot pole anyway.
He is one of the biggest crooks and liars in the game industry.
The moment he was talking all anti-micro transactions, I had to almost vomit!
This guy is basically responsible and introduced Microtransactions on a Pay 2 Play game ( EverQuest 2) ! /Facepalm!
While he assured his customers he would never do that and add micro transactions to his existing games back then at SOE.
This guy is such a sleezebag, that back then, he litterly stealth patched the cash shop into EQ2 with an expansion release without warning whatsoever! Because he knew he would face a huge backlash and that it would deeply hurt the expansion sales!
So why would he think that any sane gamer on this planet would fund this liar on Kickstarter is Beyond me! /shrug
Former SWG, EQ, Planetside player have long memory.
This is the fate that a bad behaviour deserve to someone who have tricked and destroyed great mmo's.

I'm not a developer and I could have told them that.
If one is going to ask people to bakc something you have to get them excited. It's not like Kickstarter is "new" and there isn't a track record of what works and what doesn't.
All they had to do was look at successful kickstarters and see what worked and what didn't. And still, if "I" was going to do a kickstarter I would give backers a lot of information, pretty much have multiple videos in place.
I really sometimes wonder about developers.
A lot of people were telling them that and they should have known better. Kickstarter takes months to years to prepare for. With their pitch, I knew they wouldn't even surpass 250k.
Clearly, Smed has gotten way of touch with what it's like to be indy game devs and what it takes to succeed from startup. He got overly comfortable with how easy he and the old SOE staff had it (massive funding, near impossible to loose your job, freedom without much consequence) that he thought his name would carry him anywhere. Welcome to how it really is, Smed.

You just can't trust him. Period!
Why did he think he could command $800 000 for some 8-bit looking game anyway.
I'm pretty sure you've never played an 8-bit game in your life or you're blind.
This is the fate that a bad behaviour deserve to someone who have tricked and destroyed great mmo's.
or maybe all this was just a marketing stunt to bring his new game to the public eye
Even then, not many seemed excited for a 2D permadeath game. I dont think any amount of game footage would have helped this kickstarter.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
This line perfectly describes why I don't fund kickstarters, pre-order games, or buy lifetime subscriptions.
