Gaaah! Battlefield 2!!!

I think I will get myself BF2... but there are many things I don't see are better than the old BF versions.

First I could say the weapons in BF2 are worse at hitting than BF1942, know the scenario in 1942? You empty your entire assault weapon magazine into your opponent, to swap for your gun and empty that magazine aswell, then it all ends up into a knife fight! Not like in Vietnam where everything was lethal. Id say if a team of BF1942 people, a team of Vietnam people and a team of BF2 people would engage in a battle the Vietnam people would win with ease! They have older weapons but more deadly? :S

In BF2 the weapons feels even more unaccurate and the damage modifier feels a bit off the scale, some bullets are like auto kills, sometimes you hardly do any damage at all :S

Also the planes ... are oh so much boring than 1942! It was much better with the "slower" planes which only had bombs and machineguns... now they suddenly need homing and fly at speeds which doesn't really seem reasonable for the map's scales...

What are your opinions when comparing BF2 to older BF versions? I also want you to think about Desert Combat, and Vietnam. What makes BF2 better than the previous ones? If you even think so that is.

BF1942>DC>BF2>BFV

Like I said in a previous thread, infantry combat has pretty much always been garbage in BF, luckily the vehicle combat is a lot of fun.

I don't exactly know much about any of the Battlefields...seeing as how BF2 was the first that I played. But I can say that you can empty a whole magazine on someone and they still live...which has pissed me off on numerous battles.

I think in my opinon that BF2 was utter garbage but that is just me. When it came out it was absolutly horribly buggy. The damage was and still is totally screwed up and like the first sniper rifle is horribly under powered. For instance this one time on Strike at Karkand, I was playin Support and shot at a guy no more then 10ft away in prone with iron sight and hit him about 4 or 5 times in the chest and then he ran behind a corner. I go after him and hit him 6 maybe 7 more times in the head neck and chest and he still doesnt die. He fires 3 times (I had full health) and kills me. Which was total and utter bullshit! Also when you are in a helicopter or plane that damn missle lock noise never shuts up and you could do 3 loops and dive stright into the ground and some how a missle or another plane will still follow. God knows how a missle could follow you through that but yet it does. Another thing, on like Sharkan Pennisula map, the MEC always camps at the US spawn with the helicopter and just flys around in little circles and never leave. Whats bad is none of the ground to air missle's look up to the top of the building so you cant shoot the heli down. Im guessing the wonderful people at EA wouldnt let you view the heli from a ground to air missle so you wouldnt spawn kill it. WELL! It's a little counter productive. The server search is very slow and takes forever to load all of about 600servers when you can load about 1500 on CS:S in the time it takes to load 600 on bf2. And not to mention the horrible loading time when joining a server even when you have like 2gigs of ram still takes min or more. Also if you have a lower end system frankly its not really worth upgrading to all the hefty requirements. And ive caught numerous people using Battle Hud which tells you where everybody is and how far away they are. So you get killed by the same person 5 or 6 times because he knows exactly where you will spawn and when. When I first bought the game it crashed the second after I made my account and likes to randomly crash every once in awhile even though my PC is cooled more then well and I surpass the reccomended requirements. EA also came out with a bunch of booster packs to whore up more money from you! So if you want a real game go out a buy F.E.A.R. plus it looks better too.

Mine used to take a horrendously long time to load, a couple minutes probably. Then I was looking through a PC gamer and they had this article about how to do crap in BF2, anyways if you go to your BF2 folder, go to mods/bf2/movies and delete all the movie files. This will get rid of the DICE and EA intros, as well as the BF2 intro, and the useless gameplay movie running behind the menu. For some reason this made the time it took for me to load a map go from 3-4 minutes [or 1-2 minutes if the maps been previously loaded (I have 1 gig of RAM)] to about 30 seconds - one minute.

Also, the missle lock noise doesnt come from the missle, it just tells you that another plane, an anti-tank player or a SAM is locked onto you.

DC>BF1942>BF2>BF Vietnam

BF1942 is the best game ever made. DC made it 5X better. Vietnam was terrible except for the music. As for BF2 I was disappointed. BF2 and Vietnam started letting Graphics ruin gameplay. BF2 isn't terrible but the planes and choppers suck and the infantry combat is too MoH,CoD,CS for me.

I agree, I also think DC is the best version yet by far. The weapons infantry had were good, they felt agile and accurate. The vehicles were also nice and felt balanced, nothing was too much of a threat really. The planes still as fun as 1942 since they were nicely balanced. Also no godlike "always hit" homing missiles.

In BF1942 id say the only thing I hated was the infantry since they were so bad.... as I described at first post. The planes were super good! The fact that they were so old and not so dangerous made em funnier IMO since you felt more like you were owning when you did something good with them.

In BFVietnam I totally loved just the infantry part since the weapons felt so good. They were letal enough and you could not blame them for missing your opponents. I also liked the functions infantry had, bouncing betty for instance.

The game fell under the vehicle part though ... tanks were ugly and bulky, planes were also bulky and round, also had strange homing missiles that made it a bit too simple... not to mention annoying. Then the game was also a bit too concentrated on the helicopters! They were everywhere! And hard to take down, even when you did get em they still respawned seconds after to make the hell continue.

In BF2 I don't really like anything much, the infantry feels as bad as 1942.. the tanks as bulky as in Vietnam ... and the planes even more flashy than vietham... but nothing beats the traumaticly annoying beeping sound that is heard when something blows up near you, not to mention the fuzz on the screen makes my eyes hurt after a while ...

Well, I only want BF2 because every BF player seems to go there anyway, DC is dead... I only found one server

The latest BF2 patch pretty much killed it for me. For some stupid reason they decided that C4 would no longer be able to be thrown while jumping, which is the only way you can really throw it a decent distance. Yet, for some reason you can still throw grenades and other packs. For one this doesnt even make sense, even for a game. WHY CANT I THROW C4? Is it magically glued to my hand when I jump?

Then they removed "dolphin diving', something ive been doing since BF1942, which they consider an 'exploit'. ITS NOT AN EXPLOIT IF ITS A SIMPLE BUTTON PRESS THAT ANYONE CAN DO.

Unless its a vehicle based map like Daqing Oilfields, BF2 is dead to me.

Orcc is being a bit dramatic. I have played all the BF1942's Vietnam and BF2, SF. Yes I agree with some things about the last patch, teh C4 throwing sucks but I am glad they got rid of Dolphin diving, that as just plain stupid and annoying. BE somewhat realistic here lol. Plus it does seem like some weapon re better than others but really it is all about where you hit them, you can kill with one shot with a pistol if you hit them in teh head. On accuracy, I think BF2 has the best, you just have to know how to fire the weapon and where to aim.

My opinion if you liked the other Battlefields you will like this one, especially because they finally nerfed Helicopters.

BF2 is a good game but recent changes has dumbed down my excitement somewhat.

For someone that starts the game now and loves FPS games, they will love it as they are not gonna know what changes have taken place in the past.

So if you do like your online shooters then I recommend it. But avoid special ops ::::06::
