Don't get so upset, it's an unusual closing in this setting. It would make sense in a religious or similar forum, but here not so much. I hope you can forgive my curiosity.

It has a double, maybe even a triple meaning because SC is also a religion/cult to some, so faith (spiritual) come int play, the game is also liight years from release so one has ot have (temporal) faith it even gets completed, and third the one you mentioned the most obvious white knight of any game (other than maybe DM Kano for anything Trion) getting mimicked.
How do you come to the conclusion i am butt hurt when i am reminding you about a post you made? I am not the one that can't let this go.
How can i admit something that is a fiction in your head.
I already told you what it means, it is a closing.
Let's assume i would use: "Best wishes", will you then roast me about which wishes i mean? Will you ask me if i am a Genie and if you can rub my lamp?
Have faith!

Again, i am not upset. Nothing in my post suggests i am upset. How you come to this conclusion is about as incomprehensible as your conclusion that a "Have faith!" closing needs to be religious. I suggest looking up the word faith.
Have faith!
PS: I am still not upset, just helping you understand. I enjoy helping people understand things like this. I have faith that people can learn and grow beyond their current mental abilities.

Yep, that guy took a risk playing in this virtual market and got burned. While I think CIG is legally correct here, I still think they are biting the hand that feeds.
This is largely how I'm seeing it too.
Technically, there are 2 paths, and they seem to be following them: 1. They ban/deal with the account/goods. 2. The guy pays to keep them.
The truth, however, is that even approaching the guy and asking him to pay is tasteless and low class, at best, since it's not his fault.
If they have any quality and care about their future community, they will simply create an option 3 and cut the guy a break.
I agree and disagree. It is the guys fault. Not sure what it is about SC, but I've never seen a mass of people act so ridiculously foolish with their own money. People are playing with a lot of money in a non existent pool of nothing.
That said, I do agree in that it think it's a "dick move" on CIG's part to approach him for many, even if they "find it within themselves to let him off the hook"
Oh come on @DirtyDozen we both know why you are roasting me over the have faith thing. One might even think you are a little butt hurt. If you have a problem with it you can always ignore my posts.
Are we good now? Can we move on and get to the topic at hand?
Have faith!
No I won't admit to knowing because you play it just like that too, play it all coy like "What ever do you mean?" so please explain @MrSnuffles.
Dude, you already said what you think i mean, do i need to remind you?
Of course not, who would suggest such a thing? That would be ridiculous.
I wonder if this is some kind of dig at people that back the game? You know, like hey look at the crazy cultists! LOL
And at the same time mocking another poster around here for always closing with "Have fun!"
Yeah, that would be childish, nobody would behave that way around here would they?
Have faith!
You seem butt hurt, but was that an admission?

You are just harassing him because of his mild reference to Erillion. I know it, you know it, he knows it, everyone knows it.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
If they were coming after me as a third party. I would cease caring about my account upon getting that email as I would want nothing further to do with the company than to see it burn for what I would construe as 'Immoral' business practices.
I am in that boat as well.
It says all you need to know about a company that would do that.
It all comes down to this:
-Customers have the right to charge back virtually anything in regards to pre-release software (in the US at least).
-Companies can ban the accounts of people doing so, if they want.
-Companies can NOT pursue 3rd parties for repayment of charges for someone else doing a chargeback (legitimate or otherwise).
And as mentioned, it is idiotic on the part of the company to pursue some 3rd party over a few hundred bucks, for all the negative publicity (and loss of future pledges/customers) that is being generated.
Stupid.
This is the quintessential example of a business being "Penny wise and pound foolish".

Well I'm glad you're okay now, and I appreciate your concern for me, but I'll be fine as I've made it this far without you, no offense of course.
But just for the record, I didn't say it "needs" to be religious, just that it would make sense in a religious setting as opposed to in a gaming setting, I think most people would agree with that. Can you understand that?
Implying i was not okay before. I enjoyed our conversation very much so far. Like i mentioned before, i do like to help and educate people even if it's about simple things like the meaning of the word faith. Having said that:
Faith makes sense in either because it has 2 meanings and none is more true than the other. It's a simple concept really.
However, please feel free to make a poll about the meaning of faith if you want to back up your claim that most people would agree with your conclusion that it makes more sense in a religious context.
I was never the one that did not understand. Let me remind you:

So you're saying it's not just an innocuous closing? But a jab at Erillion? And that MrSnuffles knows this too?
Okay, I'm good with that I guess. Thanks for clearing it up for us.

I've never heard of a company trying to make someone pay for an item they bought from another player. Usually the items just get deleted or all accounts get banned. I've never heard of game that couldn't delete or add individual items from a persons account, like when duping is discovered.

They can seek reimbursement in order for the patron to keep an account open, much like MMORPG's will when making bad purchases through third party dealings. That seems to be what they are doing here to me. Not that I'm saying that's the right thing to do.
The real lesson here is about gray market sales, not only can you be burned in the initial purchase, but you can be burned by the company running the gaming service at the same time. Is it really worth the risk?

Have faith!
I'm good now, we all know what you mean and that's all I care about.

You clearly not heard of CIG and StarCitizen then. I mean we ahve it in writing from the Game Support Manager: Will Leverett.
All aside, i totally agree with you. There are only 2 possible reasons.
1. They are lying and just want to squeeze that person out of $500 2. They are even more incompetent that we thought.
I think both options are not very flattering for them.

If I was to follow your path, I'd add a question about what 'Cheers' really meant.
Instead of saying that I think CIG has overstepped their bounds. Again. It starts at the top.
They weren't thinking clearly when they devised their on-going system of ship purchases. They've invited this by their poor design. Shocking, I know!
