I know beholders are in the game, but what about D&D's other iconic foe?
When people will pay others to play a game for them it might be a sign the game isn't all that fun.

In the world of Eberron they are not as "common" as in FR.
Can't say for sure but I have not seen any screenshots and have not seen them mentioned anywhere so it is possible that they are not in the game for the above reason.
Thanks. I haven't bought the game yet so I keep forgetting it is set in Eberron. I'll probably remember once I start playing, and see warforged running around.

For the above reason, but more for the fact that there are no Psionics in the game yet. Eberron does contain psionic beings (e.g., Khalashar race, etc.), they just aren't in the game yet for the same reason. The Devs have hinted (in beta) that this was something that may come later.
I suspect that if they add Psionics to the game, you will probably see the appropriate classes and monsters in-game at that point.
[Edit: Actually found out that I'm wrong. There are beholders in the game. There is a one quest were you get to kill a Beholder (caves of korromar (sp?))]
