Not entirely a new take. Essentially Smite with a different take on items. That's about it.
There are older games than Smite in the genre like LOCO for example... not that it matters, but if you want to say that they are copying a game you might as well use an old game rather than the one you like
I never stated that Smite started the trend. I was just stating that it's similar to Smite.
Luckily each is at least kind of different its just a matter of who comes out on top and who just makes enough to stay alive.
OW-Fast paced more shooter with short matches. Has Blizzard behind it which no matter what you feel about them they are a big company with money to throw around. 6v6 and can change characters any time in match.
Battleborn- Fast based combat more moba esk minion games that last longer then OW and PvE combat. Also more melee characters then OW if you like that. Outside earned gear system.
Paladins- has more fantasy then sci fi elements and more like quake combat. The mount system is weird imo. Card System.
Gigantics- Agreed it could be dead. 3rd person combat with "skill trees" as you level so more unique customization of champion. Large bosses and unique minion system/point capture system.
Lawbreakers-More akin to the CoD world of military shooter meets titan fall maybe?
Paragon- More of your slower paced LoL/Dota combat at first with true lanes, with the new graphics and aiming play style. Card System.
Sure there is a few others out there too from indi companys and Eastern Devs.
Some which are P2P some which are F2P, but F2P without quality doesn't mean it'll have more people then P2P with. We will see.
Personally most interest in Ow n BB and probably get both, might try out the others. Tried Gigantics and liked it at first, but its been over a yr and they basically have only moved 3 steps back in development sadly.
LOCO was fun but had gear and gear enchantment that was total P2w that was done in the main lobby area so you went in powered up before you even started a match if you spent cash. Killed the game. Hard.
Yeah was a decent game, but had a bad publisher. Thankfully nowadays in this genre things are a lot more different
Epic games just does FPS way better than Blizzard will ever imagine.
My biggest problem has been advancing graphics make the visuals really tough to see for my aged eyes.Paragon seems to be bringing back a more "bright" vision, imo allowing for more skill strat than straining your eyes to see every corner.
I just know watching many streamers "watched Brad McQuaid today" playing OW,i simply struggle to see anything on the map,all the dark lighting just ruins it for me.Another thing i can't stand is radar through walls,we always considered that cheating and it ruins my vision of a game.
Also map design is another area Epic games is a master of,they understand Zaxis fighting, most other games only do it mildly sometimes not at all.
Overall Paragon will just deliver cleaner graphics, and imo better fps qualities although several games are doing it decently.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
