LMAO people outraged at this yet Chris Roberts has sold a hundred million in ship jpegs for a game that doesnt exist yet other than a tech demo that is really not playable.
That isnt a Black Desert fanbois white knight defense I have never played any version and dont have nay intention of playing it for quite some time, (when it goes free to play around Thanksgiving I will maybe give it a try) just trying to put things in perspective.
They can be as greedy as they want with cosmetics. If you want to look expensive, then pay an expensive price.
Seems like everyone these days wants everything for free or cheap. Can't have it both ways. They give you something that isn't Pay 2 Win. Be happy.
No P2W? You will be abel to put this costumes on the Auction House and trade it for in-game currency. And with the Price of 32 Euro, the demand for this costumes will sky rocket since very few will be abel to afford them. So players will be making 100 of millions of silver on them. They will be the richest best equiped players in the game.
There is always P2W in korean games in one form or another.
Not at launch for a few months. You can't sell any cash shop item for silver for atleast the first few months, could be half a year if we are lucky.

They never said few month, just at launch. It could be few days, or a week.
Costume cost more than game because game is free to play. The only reason you pay for it because they realised they can easily pretend it is B2P for some time for initial cash grab.
Pretty much this it's F2p with a entry fee they are milking it as much as they can.
These prices are the same as in korea.. which launched 1 year ago
Price are fine.. dont like it? dont buy it very simple
It wouldn't be that big of a problem, if this items were bound on pick up. But they are not, and at some point they will come in to the Ingame market. And this will destroy the games economy. It will create extremly rich and powerful playes, that have used their RL wealth to greatly influence balance in the game.

SC's ships are actual ships. You can interact with them, explore their compartments, engage their subsystems. You can actually fly them.
Costumes on the other hand are essentially just a bunch of pixels. How is this for a "perspective" ?
People playing Korean MMO surprised that the cash shop will rip off their players...is kind of like a person sticking with an abusive partner hoping that...this time...everything will change.

Nice try though.
Actual? Can you touch them? Where will they build them, on your back yard? Bring us a deep space souvenir when you go cavorting through our solar system/galaxy, thx.
Anyway, on topic. Prices are a tad high, for costumes at least. 10$ (or 10 EUR probably, goddamit), for a pet, you can have three pets, you can also merge them and they get random abilities...which brings a potential total pet cost to...fuckhigh.
But hey, that's the price of F2P in general. Kinda similar to free rider problem in economy. If 80% of people don't spend any cash, well, dem 20% have to spend much more. Plus P2W or P2advantage games have their whales, basically the 1%-ers of games who literally can fund the game by themselves. Credituu carduu opuun. And along side all this, a lot of games factor in short life span, which means they need to do a cash grab or be in red numbers. God forbid they'd thought of making a good long living game at the start. Cash grab and run, modus operandi of chinese browser MMOs.
Most cash items are tradable in game via the broker. There will always be people who are willing to spend real money to trade for game money.
It was fun back when the prices were still kept low, you can see many people camping the broker trying to snipe the cash items on the broker the moment they appear. And the good news is that broker prices must fall within a range that is determined by the game, hyperinflation won't happen overnight (but it does happen in the end still, some items now cost up to billions of silvers on the KR server OTL :<). So there will be plenty of time for you guys to farm some silver and try to get some nice costumes for cheap in the first few months of the game.

how can an economy be destroyed if its controlled by the developers?

It MAY be just cosmetics, but jeeze... how many people would buy a costume at that cost? I can see $10-$15, sure. 30? NOPE.
LOL, it only takes one...
And it's not like there is a precedence in the west for spending ridiculous amounts of money to say... I don't know, beta test a game.... or for that matter, virtual ships...
If this bothers you, I don't know how you can stand Star Citizen... or half of the founders packs for games floating around these days.
What about spending $15 a month to play a game you already paid for? If that isn't highway robbery, I don't know what is. At least you get a costume for that money!

No, it costs more than the game because some idiot will actually pay that price... and trust me, there are a lot of idiots just clamoring to do just that.

Calling someone an idiot just because he decides to spend HIS money the way he sees fit is juvenile.
Now, i am not such a spender but we are not living in North Korea, are we now ? One is free to part with his dough as he likes.
Overpriced cosmetics vs. items that increase player strength? I hate that these seem to be the only two options but i think i'll take overpriced cosmetics.

You speak as if those two things are mutually exclusive. Just wait
What Daum put in their cash shop, and at what price point, is up to them. But does it make economic sense to have outfits *only* available at $30? That is a question that Daum and others might be interested in - "Are we making the most money we could?"
Maybe there are plenty of outfits available in-game, or maybe they plan to add outfits to the shop at a lower price. If so, it makes sense. If not, they are ignoring a large part of their available market.
In economic terms it is the "long tail" - the ever increasing number of customers who are willing or able to spend an ever decreasing amount of money for a certain item.
At the thin end of the tail, people might only be willing to spend 50 cents on an outfit in a game, but there might be many more sales at this price point.
In the real world we have exclusive designer clothing, but we also have high-street clothing stores, and we have bargain high-volume mega-stores. They each make a profit in their own way, and cater to different needs. In a game, the cash shop is the only source, so needs to cater to the whole population (and to anyone considering joining the game).
You can imagine a cash shop where there is a large choice in price and items. So still have those exclusive $100 diamond encrusted outfits for the whales, but also have $30 outfits, and $5, and $1, and 10 outfit bundles for $5 and so on. The cheaper outfits would not have that exclusivity, but would give the less wealthy or committed players a choice to create a look for role-playing, and a chance to contribute money to support the game.
Outfits could steadily reduce in price, over a long period, so that they eventually become available for all (perhaps introduced with in-game vendors at some point) rather than simply disappearing from the shop. This would then mean the whales would need a new exclusive outfit, and so drive sales at the top end.
Why do they not do this? Do they not want that long-tail money?
In truth they are biting themselves in the butt because as less people will be inclined to buy a cosmetic outfit. The "whales" are always going to buy something but the whole idea of the cash shop is to entice the regular player to drop some money here and there.
Quite frankly, I'd rather just pay a sub.
Still, people don't like it, don't buy anything in the shop. Problem solved.

honestly the prices are a bit high i guess at one point they will change it and bring some maybe weekly sales or so.
Other thing is what i saw is that these costumes give Bonuses.
Like stamina.
Dk if it makes much but isnt that p2w at a little point
