There's is no p2w in the GW2 pvp... Have you even played the game?

So you don't have to pay to use the revenant class and elite specializations in pvp?

Tell me, Do your rose-tinted fanboy glasses come in a different colour?

    Also yes I played gw1 2007 to 2013. gw2 2012 to 2014. now I hop between various mmos/games.

the posts here about visual clarity are pretty on point. some games just lend themselves much better to e-sports spectating than others do

Yes you have to purchase the game.  Or did you think it was f2p?  Crap-tinted hate glasses come in a different color?
Are you onto something or just on something?

That's what I'm saying. For the most part, non MMO games are better and far more easier to watch and understand. Gw2 esports is only for the people interested in it/ play the game.

Anet have already come out and said the budget used in both wvw and pve hAve nothing to do with the spvp budget. So if your looking for more content and changes your just gonna have to wait. All mmos are like this. People are so inclined to be entertained every single day and hour, just play something else until more changes/ content is released.

@Wizardry ; GW2 gives you no reason whatsoever to spend money in the cash shop for spvp.

    OK.

@stio89 ; You played the League of Legends card?  Really?

Yeah, so? DOTA 2, Smite, CS-GO, HOTS, Starcraft, etc., etc.

@APThug ; There are millions of people watching football and have not much of a clue whats going on either.  Same can be said of all sports.

    Stupid statement.

@mazut ; If we only worried about what you think then this website woulda went down years ago.

    You totally missed the point.

I don't understand how, what I said was a stupid statement. I'm talking about MMO's, specifically gw2. You changed the subject and brought up football. If you re-read what I wrote completely, you would understand that I made a neutral statement about gw2 and esports, and that's it.

According to your logic GW1 was hardcore pay to win because it had 2 expansions that brought in a total of 4 new classes.
Obviously without owning the new classes there is just no way you could win a pvp match....

Who cares for this wannabe esports game anyway ? If Arenanet wouldn´t sponsor these events with their marketing budget they couldn´t even take place. This is probably the most artificial game in the esl.

I was addressing your logic that people need to understand advanced tactics in order to enjoy watching a sport.  I was in no way attacking your entire statement.  The enjoyment of watching any sport has much more to do with action then understanding.  I haven't watched GW2's so idk what is so confusing about it.  It should be clear what the other teams are trying to do and if it isn't then they need to fix that for sure.

GW2 will never be taken seriously until they fire the PvP and balance devs. Every patch for the last 3 years has made the game less skillful, more spammy and less balanced. With the release of HoT they even went P2W as there are exactly ZERO non-HoT builds that are even close to viable, much less meta.

This is coming from someone who loved the game and put 5K+ hours into it. The game isn't worth playing, much less treating as an Esport right now.

I will make this short and to the point, pro league gaming is a very shallow way to garner interest to your game.Sadly it does  work for the developer, but does nothing for me as a gamer looking for better quality games.
Normally Blizzard is all over this kind of nonsense but in Hearthstone they lucked out because they ended up getting multi millions of supporters without raising a finger to do anything constructive for the game.

Look at the top Twitch games, all related to pro gaming>>>$$$$$,sad when gaming fun ONLY becomes important when money is involved.
I am not saying the case for GW2 but NORMALLY pro gaming also forces out way more money in the cash shop because when money is involved gamer's are impatient and will want to speed things up.

There's nothing in the cash shop to make you better than in me Guild Wars 2. It's all about the way you play your character. There are no paywalled classes and professions. You buy the game, you get everything, that was the deal 3 years ago, that's the deal today. With a bonus of core game if you are a new player.

"Q_Q i don't want to buy the expansion"

    Gw2 has always been a B2P game.

However, the old thief meta is still viable, with more stealth and cleanse. Daredevil is just a bit easier.

And even then I don't see how this is p2w. It would be p2w if you were actually winning just by buying the expack, but you dont, because majority of the player base has it.

Hell, I get my ass kicked on regular basis, even though I have the expack. "It's always because of my teammates though"

If getting the expansion is P2W (the only expansion in ~3 years and counting), then the freaking world of warcraft is the biggest pay-to-fucking-win game. Heheeey....you have to pay a sub ... if you don't pay 15$/mo. you don't win lulz.

You're are an impudent troll buddy.

ESports never belonged in MMOs and it was never a developers role to make a game an Esport. Let the ESport happen naturally. When I say Naturally, I mean like StarCraft did back in the late 90s and early 2000s. I played starcraft as an esport on my college campus but WOW was never an esport, nor UO, FFXI, or SWG. The community made it an ESport not the developer.
