What is wrong with console games? I love FF games and generally play them on a console. I love Far Cry and generally play on the console. I am a gamer. I am platform agnostic. Ever played The Last of Us? Console only. Zelda? Console only.
They are PC Masterbaters if it isn't PC only they will spam hate it to the end of days.

for me its more the AAA market. and consoles just happen to be full blown AAA. I like building and crafting games. If you can point me to a building a crafting AAA game (no not minecraft that game is an average indie crafting game as far as i am concerned) then I will look

Its what I call a 'console first' game which means I cant even be bothered to look into it

From what I read and seen, it is NOT a Console port. They are working on the PC version separate and PC Options will show the Extra work put into the PC Version. I play on the Xbox One so I can't tell you how true that is.
its not the porting that I have an issue with. the the AAA forumla in general I find such game design to be disgusting and 'on average' games that market the console as its primary marking focus, generally tend to fit that formula even more so then not. Case in point, this game is most likely NOT Skyrim

I personally dont like AAA games at all and console games are like what I dont like about AAA games dialed up a notch.

Controlled movement, forced stories, few features, forced cut scenes, stereotypes, same forumla in all of them for friggin decades, over done violence, sterotypical sexuality in stories I dont even want to be exposed to in my game in the first place, and very few features.

    but that is just me
In my opinion you are missing out on some really great gaming experiences thinking that way about consoles. The Last of Us was one of the best games I have ever played. I am beyond excited for FF 15 and FarCry Primal I have preordered for Xbox One so I can be a caveman. Pretty fun to me.
well I dont want to stray the conversation to far off topic which was my fault but I should be clear in saying over my 35 years of gaming I have played enough AAA games to know what they are like, even more so when I watch a lets play and its EXACTLY as I predict and EXACTLY as it was when I used to play them.

AAA formula is absolutely not for me
35 years of gaming has led you to spam cry about a video game you have no interest on a random site?

I played it from 8 am to 6 pm, the only thing I hate is that my progress will be gone.  The graphics look amazing and it does look like those early trailer footage, at least on PC it does.

Meh I had no idea what I was doing.  Seemed to have too much mindless running around.  I will give it a bit more time, but so far not impressed.  I will just get hyped up for far cry now.

Single player shooter with coop, pass. Missions that put you into solo content do not belong in a mmo.

    Something Awful this way comes.

Have you ever played games like Borderlands or Dark Souls?  Because if you like those than you will probably like this.  Only this has an entire open world zone for open pvp, the DarkZone and it will have raids.  The rest is much like Borderlands where you can do Missions on Normal Mode (Solo) and Hard Mode (Group).  The DarkZone is the part thats like an mmo because you can see non-group members running around.

These types of games are its own genre, The developers call this an Open World Online RPG/Shooter.

OK so ive been playing the open beta on PS4 for the last 5 hours straight.

This is Destiny all over again (which is bad IMO) but it is more fun.

    - They need to add more RPG elements, including lootable cars, trash cans, etc. Too many cars out there and they are just fluff? let us loot the trunks! You can loot drawers, closets and fridges already so make cars lootable too.

    - I noticed i didnt have to worry about mask filters in contaminated areas. Make filters degradable like the Metro Games. That adds more tension and sense of survival to the game, we are surviving after all.

    - The biggest problem i found so far: Ubi copied all the problems from Destiny and added them to The Division. The same enemies respawn over and over in the exact same places doing exactly the same things, just like in Destiny. It sucked in Destiny, and it is a major turn off here as well. Make it more dynamic/varied.

It feels like a modern day version of Destiny and that sucks. I dont think it is worth $60 just like i didnt think Destiny was worth it either, but at least Ubi is beating Bungievision at their own game.

I will probably wait for a price drop.

EDIT: also no jumping, no crouching, no sliding to cover? whats up with that?

I don't really think they need more RPG elements per se. I think some additional things would be pretty cool... looting cars and trash cans.. I mean.. cars maybe, and some cars you can loot, its not every car,  but I think opening that up a bit more would be alright.  Trash cans, I don't think I would want to rummage through trash that much.  I want to see something like.. a photo system.  I've been playing on XB1 with my cousin and his friends, my cousin is REALLY big into graffiti and he's been taking screen shots of all the different ones he finds. I'd be cool with seeing a collection of it, and things like that.   But as far as RPGing by class,  I think the Division has a lot more options than Destiny.

The issue with OBT and just the Division testing in general is they're telling us that the worlds will have more mobs and be less restrictive, but I don't really know what that means.  I've been through areas where there are almost no mobs, but then watch videos of others that get the full pre release testing, and they have those areas populated.  Now how dynamic will it be?  Probably not too much -- BUT I did notice that in the PvE area, mobs do scale when you're with a group.

As far as the modernity and/or the game not being sci fi enough -- there are a lot of abilities people haven't gotten yet, and the customization is far better than destiny and the halo games.

There is not jumping, and only crouching behind cover.  Sliding to cover is kind of possible, but you have to do it from cover to another cover point. NPCs use that feature too.  This is just the way these kinds of games are, due to it using the specific cover system, you're locked into a mostly ground game. Bunny hoppers and T Baggers need not apply.  I'm not saying it makes it okay, I'm just saying all cover based shooters are similar.

Put 4.5 hours into it, was fun. I could see this as being a side game here and there with some friends. But I'd rather the whole map be considered a dark zone. Also, was relieved that there are doors that can be opened and apartments that can be raided. For a bit there I was getting annoyed that nothing is open and 'explorable' kind of on the same scale as DayZ with 20% of the housing being open the other 80% just decoration :/

I would like to see a larger dark zone area... not even for the PvP aspects (although in many MMOs I do play on PvP servers) just more people in PvE zones.  Obviously they can do it.. I had dozens of people fighting it out in the dark zone.. why not give us some public PvE areas too?

Managed to get an hour of game time, first main mission and some side quests on the way. Would have been more but I always try new games on my old dual core box first and Ubi blocked dual cores so that took a bit of time. But with 1-10 fps during the "get your base back" fight the dual core block is understandable.

    Two things I didn't like:
    1) 4 skills for each class. Unless I missed something you can only choose between 4 skills which is not very RPG-y imho. I was hoping for some D3 kind of skill tree: a few main skills with some mods each.
    2) no jump. WTF!? I want to jump around even if it has no use at all but just for fun. Also no crouch is a bit strange. A FPS without jump and crouch just feels kind of weird  but then I haven't played that many FPS over the years so maybe that's standard *shrug*

    Two things I liked:
    1) the interface. clean, easy to get the information you need and I wouldn't know how to improve it atm.
    2) fluid gameplay. It's easy to get in and out of cover, the moving/jumping over things (ctrl thing)  animation doesn't break the overall movement too much.

Overall I enjoyed the hour of gameplay but won't buy it because they already announced 3 DLCs so basically they are selling half a product. Some people might like it that way but it's a no-go for me.

"They are already planning DLC" is one of the more flaccid objections. While The Division is not strictly a mmorpg, it does much in that tradition. In a traditional mmorpg you buy the game and pay a monthly subscription with the understanding that they are working on and releasing new content periodically. In The Division's case, instead of paying monthly, you pay three times a year. Same thing, different way to do it. Planning ahead is smart and means you are just releasing and working on its sequel to replace it. In fact, it seems to me like a decent compromise between subscription and free-to-suck.

Been having a blast in game.  I'm not a huge pvp guy but all these horror stories about the DZ in over 6 hours I haven't experienced anything but team work and fun.  It's a blast having 7-8 people chasing down a rogue agent who tried to snipe us at the extraction zone.

When I jump on solo all I do is look for building to explore.  There are tons of them it's a great way to change your look by searching cabinets in the Apartments.

Played for about 3 hours and it was very mediocre, but I don't think there was anyway around that.

    1.  It's a modern setting in a city - I can't remember another MMO where this actually worked.  Maybe City of Heroes, but there was so much more to that game so I dont really count that.

    2.  Only 1 race and it appears all the gear is tactical

    3.  guns and grenades....nothing else

    4.  Hitting the Shift key over and over again to duck and cover then aim and shoot....rinse and repeat

    5.  From what Ive seen so far and from what I can imagine, you will be on rescue missions, recon missions or securing something...can't seem to think there would be any other types of missions.

When you design a game around a very specific idea, rather than a big world with no limits and tons of lore, you have already limited everything about the game.

This will be another niche game that Im sure people will play (especially on consoles), but it will DEFINITELY go FTP within the first 3 months because of the lack of diversity in world, character and gameplay.

Hmm maybe you should do a little more research on the game before you comment on it...

I guess I should have clarified...I think the console versions will always cost something...but I don't the PC version will stand a chance with a price tag on it....
