comin from wow, im sick of all the lag and lack of really anything to do....finding guilds is a pain in the arse cuz if u dont show up for raids 24/7 they dont want u...
I wanna have a life cuz this is a game and im just looking to have some fun.

Whats raiding and lvl'in up in this game like...is it a long arse grind? Like how long would an end game raid take in hours for a day...
How's it on finding groups to go places...including low lvl instances if they even have that in this game.
And about the monthly patch's if there are any monthly...are they patchs worth looking foward too or is this game all about the expansions?

Final Fantasy XI is signifigantly more geared for group play than WoW is. In fact, level grind above somewhere around lv10 requires a party. That is, solo play is not an option beyond that point. (The only job that can solo is Beastmaster.)

There are no "raids" in FFXI, although you can take three parties and bring them together to make an alliance. (One party is maxed at six players, so an 18 player alliance is the maximum size of a group)

There is also no instances except for "Burning Circle" battles. (These are battles you and a party/alliance can fight with no outside influence.)

    There is no true PvP.

Patches are released every two months, but rarely have any large changes to the jobs. You can get an idea of what kind of updates there has been in the past by viewing the Past FFXI Updates Page.

Major content is usually released in the expansions, but there has only been two so far. A third expansion is being released next month. The rate of expansions seem to be one every 1 1/2 years.

I must say though, if you're looking to reclaim your life... FFXI is only going to steal it. One of the complaints many people have is this game feel like you're working a full time job but not one is paying you. Crafting is certainly no easy thing, and it's pretty hard to come by a lot of money in game and gil sellers have caused inflation to jump astronomicly.

There are a total of 15 jobs in this game, but only 6 are available at the beginning. The other 9 are called "advanced jobs" that you can only get after you quest for them at lv30.

Transportation does not exist if you're under level 20: you walk everywhere. At 20 you can quest for a chocobo license which will allow you to pay for a ride at the cities and crags.

Quests do not work anything like they do in WoW. You do quests for 'fame' (like reputation) and occasionally for the reward. You get no exp for finishing quests... and rarely money.

In the end: Final Fantasy XI is a good game. It requires a lot of time to get anywhere, most certainly more than WoW ever did. Sometimes you may want to begin crying, no mater how manly you are, when you level grind for 3 hours only to watch most of it wiped away by a stupid party member doing something foolish and getting you killed. (You lose EXP when you die in this game.)

I can go into much more detail about other aspects of the game if you wish. I played for just over 2 years before I had to give it up for something that took less of my time (which was WoW, heh.)
